“Music Mash”

For this assignment http://assignments.ds106.us/assignments/music-mash-2/ , I had to take two or more songs that are similar and mash them together into a conversation.  This assignment was rated 4 stars. I choose to create a conversation between Little mix and the chainsmokers. I choose the song Touch by Little Mix and Paris by the chainsmokers. I took the music videos from YouTube and converted them into a mp3 so I could upload it to Audacity. From there it was easy to cut the audio I want and combine the two and I had my conversation. The story I create was of two lovers who tired of keeping their relationship a secret. Overall, I had a lot of fun creating this conversation and I believe it turn out well!

You’re the First, High Enough: “Music Mash”

This 4 point audio assignment instructed me to choose two similar songs and mash them together so that a conversation of sorts between the singers appears to be happening. Below is my creation.

I chose the songs “You are the First, My Last, My Everything” by Barry White and “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough” by Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell, since both songs had a similar Motown influence and both lyrically discussed loving someone through the possible physical distances and divides that come between two people.

I found the process of editing these songs together challenging particularly because “…High Enough” often had Gaye singing adlibs in-between Terrell’s lines, requiring extra attention to details in fitting the songs together coherently. I settled on a romantic discussion of sorts, with White’s feelings of being lost countered by Terrell’s stance that if he calls her, she’ll go where-ever she needs to to get to him.

Additionally, because I noticed a disjointedness when listening to the two vocal parts switching between differing background tracks, I took introductory instrumental segments of both songs and played them during the opposing song’s vocal lines to make the tracks sound more cohesive overall through this subtle but intentional repetition (Shown below).

Instrumental duplications

I’d rate this assignment as average, as my difficulties were only due to my desire to make the song fusion sound slightly less disjointed even when viewed as a conversation instead.

Mashup Video

For this assignment, I am mashing a music video with a new song

“Holiday Mashup!”

For this assignment I used a photo editing software like Fotoflexer.com to mashup up three of my top favorite holidays and cultural celebrations. My three favorite holidays include, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Valentines Day. All of three holidays are my favorite holidays, because you get to spread love tp people who care about or need to feel cared about to feel appreciated.. For this assignment I can use whatever elements I like from each holiday and create a character or scene with the images/symbols that I chosen. Also, I can tell a story behind this character or image that I chosen. Hope you enjoy!

Here’s my Mashup!

Combine all three holidays and you get all the love in one box. Get all three holidays and you get Thankchristentine!

Mash Up 3

This is my final mashup that was worth 4 stars. The point of this assignment was to insert something into a picture that does not match. I added a picture of a Range Rover onto the Moon. I got both of the images from google. Then I used pixlr to edit them.

The final image looks interesting. Enjoy!

Mash Up 2

This mashup was worth 4 stars. The goal of this assignment was to combine multiple team logos to make a cohesive one. I used pixlr to edit my photos, that I got from google. I used a cavalier logo, the falcons logo and the lakers logo.

The final logo is pretty interesting… I would cheer for this team.

Mash-up 1

This assignment was worth 4 stars. The goal of this assignment was to take a picture of someone who looks like an emoji. I used fotor to make the collage of the two pictures. I got the picture of the emoji from google and the picture of my friend from my camera roll. Overall, this assignment was very easy!

Enjoy! P.S.- Don’t tell my roommate that I used this picture!

Audio & Music Video Mashup

This is the second assignment I created for the week. For this assignment you had to take a music video and mash it with a new song. Replace the audio to a music video with another song. Try to get them to fit together as best as you can.

For my first attempt I replaced the music to Imagine Dragons song It’s Time with their song Radioactive.

Original Music Video: It’s time by Imagine Dragons

Mine: Replacing the audio I came to the complication of the times not matching. The music video was longer, so I had to cut parts of the music video to fit better with the song. I also found another complicated thing was during the music video when they shower the person singing, the lyrics obviously don’t match, but the rest looks pretty good.

For my second attempt I used the Music video Dead Inside by Muse and replaced the Audio with Castle by Halsey.

Original Music Video: Dead Inside by Muse

Mine: For this one the time’s again weren’t the same, but they were a lot closer. The song starts out with fifteen seconds of such a low monotone it almost sounds like there’s no music. After cutting most of that from the beginning, the two paired much better, being the beat of the song works well in many places of the music video.
