Sports Bird Mashup

Bird Mashup

For one of my Mashup Assignments, I chose to do Your Favorite Teams Mashup. Being a big sports fan this one was right up my alley, so I knew what I wanted to go with ahead of time. I decided to mashup my two favorite football teams, with one being the Philadelphia Eagles and the other the Virginia Tech Hokies. Also, I decided to include a hockey logo from the Detroit Red Wings.

The basic premise of this assignment was simple, but it was tricky at times in its execution. I started off by googling images of all three logos and picking what parts of them I wanted to put on the other. I used the VT Hokie as the base, added the Philadelphia Eagle as the head, and tacked on the Red Wings for the back end. I then did a little more editing to fill in some blank spots.

Super Mash Bros- 4 stars

This assignment was kinda of difficult. I had to really use my creative juices. I thought I was very creative for this assignment and I hope it looks as cool to everyone else as I think it does. I took the Super Smash Bros Brawl theme song and I imposed it on the Narnia Battle. […]

10 Second Mashup of My Favorite Songs! – (3 Stars)

In this assignment, we had to create a mashup of our favorite songs within 10 seconds and have people guess what they are. It was very easy to make this all I had to do was get the songs off of YouTube and download them to my computer. Then from there I just added them into Audacity, and then I kept parts of the song that when people listen to they would be able to understand what song it was. One part that was challenging was finding my favorite songs, I really had to think about it for a few minutes and decided what songs were really my favorite of all time.

The mashup consists of four songs, in about 1 to 2 second segments. I tried to take parts of the song that would be easily recognizable to anyone who listened. I feel like that most of the songs are pretty popular and it would be easy for listeners to figure out what songs they are. I chose some of my all time favorite songs. I never get tired of listening to these songs and they all bring back memories of when I first heard them and who I was with. Some of these songs I used right before I play basketball and some are used while I am walking to class or driving. But, no matter how much time passes by these are some of my all time favorite songs.

Music Mash!! – (3 Stars)

When I saw this assignment, I knew wanted to do this one. We had to put different clips of music and sound effects together. The process to create this was fun and simple, I am very familiar with Audacity, and it was fun to play around with the music and sound effects. Every time I use Audacity, I am able to pick up new techniques that make it much easier to create and edit the music.

I wanted the music mashup to be uptempo and songs people would know. I combined some AC/DC songs TNT and You Shook Me All Night. I also added in some sound effects one of a motorcycle taking off and a gun being shot. I also added some popular songs from today’s music. I added Come With Me Now  by the KONGOS and Drunk In Love by Beyonce. I didn’t really want to overlap the songs because it would make it more difficult to hear the songs, so I decided to find common words the songs had and interconnect them like that.

I am a huge fan of music, I love listening to all types of music EXCEPT country. I use of all types of music for different aspects, Rock’N’Roll and Hip-Hop for getting pumped for sports events. I will listen all types of music while I am walking to class or driving somewhere. No matter if it is a woman or man singing as long as I enjoy it, I will listen to it. Music is a great storytelling tool to show how the songwriter feels and the music can connect to the listeners emotions. Overall, I am very please with with how my music mashup was put together and I hope everyone enjoys it.

Tutorial For Assignment:

The process to create this is not very difficult. I use Audacity to edit and put the music and sound effects together. Any of the music I use I get off of YouTube.

Step 1:

Take the song you want to import into Audacity. Copy the URL link of the song from YouTube. Then Paste the URL into YouTube MP3 converter. Then click “Convert Video” and then click the download button wait for the song to download into your computer files.

tutorial 1

Step 2:

After it downloads, go to your computer files and find the “Downloads” folder and scroll through until you find the name of the song. After you find the file click on it and drag it into the Audacity and the song should just load in and you are ready to edit it. You can also continue to add in more music in sound effects the same way through the YouTube converter.

Tutorial 2

Tutorial 3

Step 3:

In Audacity, you can delete sections of a song and connect them along with other songs, there is a tutorial online that explains all of the tools Audacity has and how to use them. After you complete your project, click “file” and then “Save Project as.” This only saves the project in Audacity. To save the project into your computer so you can upload it, click on “File” and then “Export Audio.” From here you choose where you want to save the music file, for me I put it under “music” in my computer drive.

Tutorial 4

Step 4:

After saving it to your computer you can then upload it to Soundcloud, Login into your account in Soundcloud then click the “upload” button. After that you click on “choose a file” then you will go into your computer files and click on wherever you saved it in your computer. After that you can add tags and a title once it is done processing, click “Save.” Then you can go find your track on your account and you are Done!

Video Mash-Up: “The Wire” Edition

For my second mash-up assignment this week (yes, I am on a roll today!) I did “The Contest Nobody Could Win (Video Mash Up Edition)” (2 stars). I chose this originally wanting to do some of my favorite movies but because one of our assignments has to be with “The Wire” I decided to do that. Plus I already have many of the episodes of the first season on my computer from the video essay assignment in the last two week session. So I took those and made a mash-up of 2 second clips that I thought were important. I didn’t go over the 2 seconds except for the last clip, it is about two and a half seconds.

How I did it:

I opened Windows Live Movie Maker and clicked on Home>Add Videos and Photos. I imported the first episode and cut it down to the section that I wanted. I chose the sections by what I thought defined the show well. I hit Edit>Set Start Point where I wanted the clip to start and Edit>Set End Point where I wanted the clip to end. I did the same thing for the remaining 5 clips. I then saved it “For Computer” and uploaded it to zamzar.com so it could be converted. Unfortunately I tried to upload it to YouTube before I did this and it was rejected. If zamzar does not work I don’t know what I am going to do. Sometimes the videos that I try to convert don’t work when I try to blog them.

Hopefully, here it is:

Sandra Bullock Mashup

Actor Transformation: Okay so we all watch actors change roles and character. It’s crazy to see what they were like in the beginning of their career compared to now. Find a actor or actress and use film clips to show a metamorphous.

One of my favorite actresses is Sandra Bullock, I think she is an incredible actress who has had an unbelievable career. She was born in Arlington, Virginia, and went to college at East Carolina University, leaving just 3 credits shy of her bachelor’s degree to pursue a career in New York for acting.  Read More…

One of the most spectacular transformations:

-Hangmen 1987

-The Preppie Murder 1989

-A fool and his Money 1989

-Love Poison number 9, 1992

-When the Party’s over 1993

-Fire on the Amazon 1993

-Speed 1994

-The Net 1995

-Two if by the Sea 1996

-In Love and War 1997

-Hope Floats 1998

-Forces of Nature 1999

-Miss Congeniality 2000

-Two Weeks Notice 2002

-Miss Congeniality 2, 2005

-The Lake House 2006

-The Blind Side 2009

-The Proposal 2009

-The Heat 2013

The video was created using clips from all the movie above. Although a long process, it was very interesting to look and see how much Sandra Bullock has changed through the years.

I created the video by using a Youtube to MP4 converter.  Downloaded the video to my computer so I could then import it into iMovie. Within iMovie I was able to trim videos and place them in the correct order of the year they were released.

Eighteen Second Song Mashup

For my first mash-up assignment this week (oops, I’ve been slacking) I did “10 Second Song Mashup” (3 stars). It sounded like fun. I love music and all types of music and I think this mash-up reflects that. I used songs that I already had on my computer because I have most of my favorites on here already. It was pretty easy to come up with good songs to throw in there. The hard part was cutting the songs off because I like them so much. Choosing a good part of the song where it would be recognizable but not too recognizable was hard. But I did it!

How I did it:

I opened Audacity and imported “Beachin’” in first. I chose a part that I wanted and deleted the parts that I didn’t need. Then I imported the remaining songs in and did the same thing. Then I exported the mash-up. I didn’t put it on SoundCloud because I figured it would get deleted due to copyright infringement so here it is.

Movie Mashup!

Harry Potter vs. Twilight, Movie Mashup

Take a movie that you really like, Now take a movie that has been compared to it, and now make a new movie poster that incorporates the two.

I choose to do my poster on Harry Potter and Twilight. When the twilight series first came out, it seemed like it was constantly being compared to Harry Potter.

I did some research on the topic t see if one had clearly out done the other. But what I found was if it was a personal blog, than it was based solely on opinion, and if it was an entertainment website, it just said both.

Some of the sites I referred to:

http://popwatch.ew.com/2009/07/15/harry-potter-vs-twilight-whos-more-popular/

http://www.eonline.com/news/187768/once-and-for-all-is-harry-potter-better-than-twilight

http://www.cracked.com/funny-6390-harry-potter-vs-twilight/

So it is up to the viewer to decide what they like better, and what they feel as been an overall better series. As a Harry Potter fan, I choose Harry Potter.

What do you choose, comment and let me know!!??

Just a funny video for Harry Potter vs. Twilight!

In the Making:

The making of My Harry Potter vs. Twilight poster did come with some challenges. Usually I find things with photo editing, fairly easy, but for some reason my computer program that I use for image editing GIMP randomly stopped working. I tried re-downloading it, restarting my computer, but I could not get the program working. So I had to get creative. I used the well known Word processor. I inserted the two photos I was going to use into the processor, and kept it fairly simple. I just lined them up next to each other, and then added V.S. in the middle. Then I took a screen shot of the page, drug it into iPhoto where I cropped it. Although this was not the ideal way to create a poster, I did my best to make it work.

Mashing Up Some Teams

cooltext1815473358

3 Stars

For my second Mashup Assignment, I chose to complete Your Favorite Teams Mashup. I am a huge sports fan and have been pretty much since I was born. I grew up with my whole family being into all different sports, but some are my favorite to watch are football and hockey, but I love playing softball. Well for this assignment, I chose my 3 favorite teams, two in football and one in hockey. I chose to mash up the Washington Capitals Logo, the Washington Redskins logo as well as the South Carolina Gamecocks mascot.

To mix these all together in one “flowing” picture or logo was pretty simple. I found each logo and mascot picture on google and made sure each picture had a transparent background in order to make the overlapping of each a little easier on me.

After I found the perfect pictures, I opened up MS Paint, and first opened up the Gamecocks mascot picture to start as the bottom layer of the picture. I then inserted the Redskins Indian into the picture to lie on top of the mascot as the head, except I rotated it to face the other way so the head was in the same direction as the body was. After adding the head to my creation, I added the Capitals Eagle to top it all off as if it were carrying the mascot.

Threeinone

It may not be the most pretty logo/icon, but I definitely thought it was cute and worked well for what I was aiming for (never said I was Picasso ;)). I think a cool way to make this assignment even more “remixed” would be making it as a GIF or making it come alive in some sort of way. If I had the time this week, I would’ve done so to give my creation a little more pizazz, but unfortunately I had a lot going on so I stuck to what the assignments goals were and that was it.

Pittsburgh Mashup

For the Your Favorite Teams Mashup (worth 3 stars), I used  Pittsburgh teams, because I was born and raised a Pittsburgh fan. I used the Steelers, Pirates, and Penguins logos, and this font and of course Photoshop.
