Mashup: Coldplay & The Neighborhood

From the assignment bank I chose to do a song mashup. For this assignment titled “Take any two songs (similar or not) and create a mash-up” I decided to take the song Sweater Weather by The Neighbourhood and Too Late To Apologize by Coldplay and overlap them. This assignment was a little more challenging for me because I haven’t had experience with overlapping music but I found it to be simple after I watched a few videos on GarageBand. If you are using garage band you may record your audio and then select “File” “New Track” and record overtop of the original audio. Enjoy!

1980s Song Mashup

For one of this weeks audio assignments, I chose to do Take Any Two Songs (Similar or Not) and Make A Mashup/Remix. I chose to do this assignment because song remixes and mashups are some of my favorite types of songs. I listen to remixes and mashups all the time on Youtube.

In accordance with our DS106 theme, I found two royalty-free 1980s-themed songs on youtube and used a website called rave.dj to mashup the two songs. After entering both links to the videos, the website rendered and completed the mashup. Here is my Twitter link to the website to listen to the mashup.

This assignment was a lot of fun. The fact that a computer program can use AI to perfectly mashup two songs is amazing. The knowledge I gained about computer music programs this assignment, I will remember for a very long time.

Random Song Mashup:

This assignment is similar to ones I have done in the past, but this particular one was much more interesting to create. It asked us to mashup two completely different songs. I decided to hit shuffle on my Spotify songs and I got Bob Marley, and a spanish song featuring Demi Lavato. These two songs are both uplifting and positivity and the collaboration creates an overall positive listen. I used the mashup website called mix.dj and then used an online link converter to make it accessible to listen to. It was really fun to mess around with the fade and balance for these two songs to make it clear what two songs are present.

Like a Prayer Mashup

Click here for the original assignment!

For this assignment I decided to put “Like A prayer” by Madonna with a cover I found on Youtube. I used Audacity to record both the song and the cover. I picked this song because it fits well with my part of “Around The World: 80’s Style.” My country is Australia and “Like A prayer” by Madonna, was the hit song in 1989. The hardest part about doing this assignment was picking the cover song, who knew there could be so many different covers for this song!

Can anyone pinpoint when the original song stops and the cover begins? I think there is a big difference because the cover is a hard metal version.

10 second mashup

This is my 10 second mashup of some songs that made the 80’s, and a certain song that is arguably one of the greatest songs ever created! Tell me which one you think it is in the comments, and which one from this selection is your fav.

Holiday Mashup~

For this assignment, for 4.5 stars, I did the Holiday Mashup. We were to mash three holidays together into one photo. For mine, I decided to choose the 3 holidays that we have/will be celebrating over this semester. Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. These are also my favorites. For the assignment, I used Pixlr which I had never used before, but it’s actually surprisingly very user friendly. I decided to do cartoons as everything so that it would be more uniform. For each image, I found a Turkey, a Santa hat, and a jack-o-lantern to represent the three holidays. From there, I reorganized them and cut out the backgrounds so that it would look good together. All in all, this was a very very fun assignment and definitely one of my favorites. I also enjoyed learning a new platform to photoshop on!

Week 12: Mashups and Remixes

Remix It: Put a ‘stache on it.”
Song: Tequila by The Champs
I had to create myself in the animoji app and then I found the facial hair section and chose the classic mustache. Its basically Christmas now so I had to put the Santa hat on.
Remix It: Cancer Sucks
Rambo First Blood Poster turned into Cancer Awareness Poster! He’s coming!
Im a big fan of Sylvester Stallone movies especially the Rambo series. I thought the quote under the red bold STALLONE fit well with people battling cancer. It’s a sad but true statement about what people with cancer go through. I made this poster in Canva which made it very easy.
Favorite Movie Clip
After their plane crashes in Alaska, six oil workers are led by a skilled huntsman to survival, but a pack of merciless wolves haunts their every step (IMDB). Im a big Liam Neeson fan because of his high action movie roles. The last seen on the video I find very powerful and moving, the way Liam Neeson acts in it blew my mind the first time I watched this movie. The clips were cut up in iMovie.
The Contest Nobody Could Win (Video-Mashup Edition)
In the past couple of years these shows and movies have become some of my favorite to watch on repeat. I did the same thing I do with all my video clips, I download them off youtube and then cut them up in iMovie, in this case it was 2 second clips.
Inappropriate Laughter
The Avenger Endgame movie had a lot of hype this year and I believe it delivered. The final battle is a very serious moment and every marvel comic fan knows what will happen to a mortal who snaps their fingers with the Infinity Gauntlet, so this cartoon laugh is very inappropriate for this final scene. This was also cut up in iMovie and the cartoon laughter was downloaded off freesounds.org

Mashing Friends And Emojis

My roommate looks exactly like that one babyface emoji!!!

My roommate Stella, helped me with this Mashup assignment by mimicking the babyface emoji on Apple phones! We even used the snap chat baby filter to enhance the baby looking aspect of the photo! I can’t stop laughing at how identical these photos are! HAHAHAHAHAHA!

Mashing Friends and Emojis

For 4 stars I mashed my best friend Theophilus Felder to the smirking emoji.

Theo loves to make this face at me so I was ecstatic to even capture the moment.

For this project I used a picture I had taken on homecoming of me and Theo, while he was making a funny face. I do not use these pictures to embarrass people, rather I use them to keep me happy and remind myself of the good times.

For this project I downloaded the app “Collageable” and edited the two images together, then saved it to my camera roll. Then emailed it to myself, downloaded it to the desktop of my laptop and embedded it into my blog post. I liked doing this because it brought back happy memories during a very stressful point in the semester.
Enjoy!

Thank you for reading my blog.
