A Few Seconds Of My Favorite Films!

So, for this assignment, I had to choose 6 of my favorite films and mash them together, using at most 2 seconds of each.

This wasn’t an overly difficult assignment. The hardest part was choosing what movies! There’s so many movies I like. I decided to go chronologically, choosing movies from different times of my life.

After I decided on the movies, I went to YouTube and found video clips of them all. I then uploaded each of them to my computer using 4K Video Dowloader. (By the way, I don’t think for this week I have to have the behind-the-scenes pictures, but I want to!)

Here’s all of the videos uploaded!

I then uploaded them into the Microsoft Photos app. For each of them, I trimmed them into being from about 1.80-1.97 seconds in length. I was aiming for 2 seconds each, but the trimmer wouldn’t let me do exact, and as the assignment said at most 2 seconds, I went for under, not over like 2.06 seconds.

I then added music. I used “English Country Garden”, a song I used before, as I seemed like peaceful credits music. I went in, cut the music to be the same length as the length of the pictures after the last movie, and then added silence for the 14 seconds of the intro and movie clips that I didn’t want music for. After, I uploaded it to the project. I actually had to do this a few times, as I forgot to add the song credits too. I had uploaded it to YouTube, but hadn’t published it, when I realized this, so I went back in and edited the project and re-uploaded it. After all of that, I published it and made this post!

Although this dealt with more clips than I had used before, this was not too difficult-mainly because I didn’t run into any problems! I feel more comfortable with video trimming in the app, which might be useful later. I did enjoy looking back at these movies. I might have to watch a few during Thanksgiving break!

The Aristocats-I adored this movie when I was very little. As a triplet, I compared my brothers and I to the kittens! Daniel was/is Toulouse, as he is very much a cat and has always loved orange cats. Toulouse is also the oldest, and Daniel was born first! Damian was/is Berlioz. I’m not sure why-it just suits him. Of course, I am Marie, as the only girl. It’s still a very cute movie!

Sometime in elementary school-Jurassic Park-The original movie has been one of my favorites, for whatever reason, since I first saw in growing up. I just love the dinosaurs and the music and everything. In the timeline of my life, with may be before or after Eight Below, but I’m not sure which.

8 years old-Eight Below-I saw this when I was 8, and for the next 4 years, I wanted to be a musher. It even made me a dog person, when I had always been a cat person! While I love dogs, I’m back to being a cat person. I don’t know why this made me want to be a musher, since this is a sad movie! I still like this movie, even I no longer want huskies. It makes me so nostalgic!

November 2012-13, almost 14, years old-Rise of the Guardians-This was the first movie that I saw with one of my closest friends, and that set up on our way of seeing so many movies together! As a group (another friend has joined us), we see so many movies-its our thing. This movie itself I just like-its the first movie I fangirled over.

14 years old-Captain America: The First Avenger-This is the second Marvel movie I ever saw. I saw the first Avengers movie on a plane, and then immediately into the hotel bathroom, which had the best WiFi, to watch the Marvel movie that was on Netflix-this one. I now love Marvel movies. I have seen all the movies from Thor: The Dark World on. I really want to watch all the movies I haven’t watched yet, and I’m so excited for Avengers 4. The scene I chose is one of my favorites from the movie. Captain America is my favorite avenger, and I just love his theme and I feel proud of him in this moment!

15, almost 16, years old-Big Hero 6-Unlike Rise of the Guardians, which I was excited about beforehand, I went into this movie not knowing anything about it. I came out loving it! It was more powerful and mature than I thought it would be. It’s another movie I fangirled over. My favorite character was Tadashi, so that’s why I chose a clip of him.

I know it seems odd that there’s no more recent movies, as I am 19, almost 20, years old. I just chose movies that I really fell in love with and coincide with a time of my life or ones that have affected my life long after, like my love of MCU movies.

Cooking Show!

So for this assignment 3 1/2 stars, I thought to create a cooking show, and feature Solenya’s favorite dish…..mashed potatoes!!!! I thought of this because My boyfriend Eric and I were going to make dinner, and I thought “What would Solenya want to eat tonight?” and then BAM! Mashed potatoes! Who doesn’t like mashed potatoes?! Solenya sure does!

I used my IPhone to take the video in my friend’s kitchen that we were hanging out in, and then I edited it on IMovie. To download the videos, I uploaded the videos to google drive then I downloaded them onto the apple computer in the HCC.

The title I put in as right on the start of us talking because I don’t like the random black screen saying what it is and then going to the video, so I made it how I liked. The ending credits are the scrolling credits I saw on IMovie. I didn’t add any audio to the video because its all us talking and I didn’t want to take away from our words. I did add an audio to the credits though. I downloaded the song “Watching Cartoons Up In My Room” off of mpsjuices.cc.

I Like It Like That

Recently, I have gotten very into the song I Like It Like That by Perry Como, which apparently has a new version by Cardi B. So naturally I chose these two! I downloaded the song and the music video, and then combined them and muted the audio on the music video.

Mountain Dew- Eat Fresh??

This picture looks kind of mixed up- probably because it was created (early!) for Mashup week as an example for the assignment I created.

I created this mixed up ad for the Logo Switch Up Assignment (2 stars). To create this ad, I took a Subway ad and thought about logos that look similar. Then, I thought about the Mountain Dew logo because it uses green as well, and has two different colors. I found a picture of the Mountain Dew ad online here. I used the Subway ad from this website. To put the ad together, I pulled both of the images into Gimp. I adjusted the size, and proportion of the Mountain Dew logo to cover the Subway logo because I was unable to erase the Subway logo and make it green rather than white. It was pretty easy to do, which is why I made it two stars. I think it’s a funny assignment!

So, for this assignment, I had to make a pinterest board for a character with at least 20 pins and then use X-Ray Goggles from Hackasaurus to further modify the board. I chose my character Maria, and I got to 29 pins. However, the X-Ray Goggles no longer work, so I had to forgo them.

This Pinterest board is a mishmash of different things relating to cryptozoology and folklore. I first searched for cryptozoology stuff, most of which were patches and pins. I chose some I liked. I noticed that there were a fair amount of alien-related items. Aliens are not really an interest of Maria-she prefers creatures from Earth-like chupacabras-or those that at least partially inhabit the Earth-like Hellhounds.

Then, I looked for backpacking pictures, as she likes to backpack. Indeed, almost everything, if not everything, I have made about her mention or involve backpacking in some way, shape, or form! I didn’t find much that I was looking for, as most of the pictures were guides that linked to other websites or tips that you had to go to another website to see. I chose a few pictures of food preparation, as Maria always liked to be prepared. I also chose a picture of a gear line. It looked cool to me and organized like Maria!

I also looked for pictures of libraries. Maria loves to read and research, so she is often found in libraries. I chose old-looking libraries, as what she is trying to research is often old (I also just personally like old libraries!).

I also chose some pictures of lecture halls. One of Maria’s jobs is a part-time or substitute professor, so she can also be found in lecture halls! I chose pictures of older-looking lecture halls, as Maria is not a futuristic person, and because cryptozoology and folklore remind me of older, more ancient things.

I also chose a few pictures of journals and writing, as Maria is also a writer. She also takes many notes when she researches. Her journals have appearances in numerous posts about her!

Finally, I also have found several lists and charts of myths, legends, and folklore from various cultures. When I typed in folklore, I got a lot of books, which is OK but they were mostly children’s books. Nothing wrong with that (both Maria and I encourage teaching children folklore and encouraging them to read!) but Maria is more scholarly. I chose various cultures since Maria is interested in myths, legends, folklore, and cryptids from all over the globe and travels often around the world.

This assignment was not very hard to complete, mostly because since the Goggles didn’t work, as the website is no longer active, I didn’t have to figure out how that worked! This was very fun to do, and I hope it gives a good idea of what Maria is like!

A Sick Beat for Radio

For this assignment I was tasked with creating a “sick beat”. For this I wanted to tie it to my radio program project so I created a intro type song for our upcoming radio show. I used audacity and freesound.org to create and mash together audio to produce this medieval intro. I had a really fun time with this assignment because I love creating and producing new rap instrumentals on my free time and I found this as the perfect opportunity to do an assignment on something I already enjoy doing. The process overall was really simple as I am familiar with the software and I already knew what sound I was looking for. I am overall happy with eh way the sound turned out and I hope to maybe use it for our programs intro.

I made the words “cryptozoologist” and “folklorist” as bigger than the others, as those are really what she’s about. The other words revolve around that. For example, the word “chupacabra” is because, as I mentioned in the post I made about her, the chupacabra is one of her favorite cryptids. “Bunyip” is because I have made several posts about the bunyip, one of the creatures, the other the “yowie” which is also included, that in the narrative I made about her she and her friends were going to try and find.

She is a “cryptozoologist” and “folklorist” who majored in “English” and “zoology” (English not capitalized to be more cohesive with group). She’s a part-time “professor” of “legends”, “myths”, and “folklore” who does “lectures” while also writing (“writer”) for travel “magazines”. She wants to “discover” and “uncover” “proof” of “cryptids” such as the “bunyip”, “yowie”, “skinwalker”, “chupacabra”, “hellhound”, and “strigoi” while traveling (“travel”), exploring (“explore”), and going on adventures (“adventure”) with her “friends”, her “backpack”, and her “journals”. Her house is filled with “artifacts” and “books”, as well as pictures of her “family”, who she loves very much. She also loves to do “research” and always likes to be “prepared”.

The shape I made a question mark, as there’s so much mystery around cryptids and she’s trying to discover the truth. For the color, I chose the second from the bottom, because to me the colors seem very nature-y, safari-y, and overall seem to suit her. The chose to google font “Marck Script” by Denis Masharov as I wanted the font to look like she wrote the words. This font is neat and tidy, as professors I have seen tend to have nice handwriting, while also not perfect, so it doesn’t look typed or otherwise created. It is also easy to read, since this word cloud is meant to be legible and understood by all!

Overall, this website is easy to use. My biggest issue is having to resize and make my word cloud smaller to accommodate all of the words, which can take several resizing attempts. I think this word cloud does summarize my character pretty well!

Sound Effect Song

For this assignment I had to create or find sound effects and then turn the audio files into a song. This assignment was really challenging for me because I found it hard to mix and mash audio files together to create a enjoyable song. I decided to keep with the film genre for this specific assignment. I wanted to find clips of sound effects from film and then combine them with a slow instrumental in order to create a odd genre of music. I guess this could be considered techno however I’m not really sure. I used effects from a variety of films including Star Wars, IT, hockey clips and basically any recent film or clip I recently viewed. I used audacity to create this audio and used a lot of reverb and base distortion. I think it turned out fairly well and I enjoyed creating it so I hope you enjoy it.
