PowaAde

The three star assignment Consumer Mashup directed us to mashup up two different corporate logos.

I frequent WaWa where I buy Powerade. To I decided to mashup their logos.

I obtained both company logos and misplaced the ‘wer’ in PowerAde with one of the ‘wa’s in WaWa. It was the only placement that made sense. I placed the Powerade logo ‘P’ so that it propagates from the bird’s beak.

The placement of the logos with respect to each other was the hardest part of the assignment to figure out. Placed anywhere else, the logos wouldn’t have meshed together.

ET’s Wonderful Life

The four and a half star assignment This Doesn’t Belong Here wasn’t too hard. It was pretty amusing.

I mashed up the scene in It’s a Wonderful Life where Jimmy Stewart was giving away the moon and the scene in ET where Elliot is flying in front of the moon. The result is seen below.

Its-a-wonderful-life4

This was achieved by downloading stills of the two different scenes from the internet. I cut ET out of one picture and pasted him in the other.

I figured since the two scenes featured the moon, it would be amusing to see ET and Elliot flying in the background.

Overall, the assignment wasn’t hard, and it gave me a couple of laughs.

I’m Ready for My Closeup

Take a dramatic closeup of anyone’s face – an actor’s, a friend’s, your own – and superimpose a landscape or scene over the face. Since this is a mashup, get crazy with it. Take two completely unrelated images and put them together, then try to make a story out of it!

Emoji Friends

Friends Smol

Emojis

These are my dear friends hanging out in the Amphitheater during the first big snow on campus. My roommate Sophia was trying to take pictures of the snow/water on Emma’s glasses, and I was taking pictures of them. Claire joined in for one of the best series of photos I have ever collected. This one was my favorite.

The assignment that inspired this had called for finding an emoji that reflected a friend’s expression. I thought it was pretty simple for a four start assignment, so I decided to kick it up a notch and find some pictures for more than one friend. Then I stumbled on this gem and decided to use it. Claire’s face is absolutely priceless.

I found the left and right emojis on a fun site called iEmoji, which gives you access to a pretty standard set of emojis to use if you’re, say, trying to tweet on your computer and you really need that one emoji. The middle face surfaced thanks to a Google search from my roommate which was apparently just “lol face“, so thanks goes to her to helping me match that expression in the middle. Then I put it all together in Paint.NET, got permission from everyone to post their faces, and here it is. I love my friends.

The Beatles Go to the Lake

My next mashup assignment involved changing up an iconic album cover. I chose to use the Abbey Road album cover and made the street water and the crosswalk a wooden bridge they have to walk across. I used GIMP again for this assignment. I changed the color of the road to be blue so that it looked like what and changed the white striped from the crosswalk to brown for wooden planks. Again, it isn’t super pretty but I think it turned out pretty good!

I also changed the name to Abbey Lake instead of Abbey Road.

3 in 1

For this mashup assignment, we were required to combine three of our favorite holidays into one picture. To do so, I chose Halloween, Christmas, and Easter, and looked up pictures on Google pertaining to all three. I made sure they had a transparent background and brought it all together on PicMonkey.

Looks scary, huh?

3 Mashup

Capital Wizards

For my next assignment, I chose to mashup two different sports team logos. I decided to use the curly W for the nationals and the Wizards logo for mine. I’m not super into sports so I just asked a friend what his two favorite sports were  and decided to use those logos. I used Gimp to remove the W from the middle of the Wizards logo and then added a layer that was the curly W. I had to make the background of the curly W image transparent and scale it so it was small enough to fit where the W is. I then used the paint bucket to change the color and make it as close to the blue in the wizards image as I could. While it wasn’t super creative in terms of the logos I could’ve used, it was challenging to combine them and remove the background around the original logo images (I’m super challenged with photo-shop related things). Here’s the final product!

Gotta kiss myself, I’m so pretty

Assignment: 10 Second Song Mashup

Assignment Description: This is some sort of variation on Katy Chase’s The Contest That Nobody Could Win assignment, but instead of clips from a TV show or movie, do clips from your favorite songs and see if anyone can guess what they are. Or atleast the artist. Do two or three second clips using 4 or 5 songs. Make them all different. Use soundcloud to post!

Top hits: This mashup is made up of 4 of my favorite songs right now, as well as 4 very well known songs. I don’t think that they are that hard to guess, but maybe you do! I included the chorus for all of them. Comment below, and I will be sure to comment back with all the right answers. (The soundcloud image makes it pretty obvious)

Madness behind the Mashup: I decided to use songs that I had downloaded into iTunes. Turns out, this didn’t work out as easily as I thought it would. I got pretty frustrated in this process. I finally googled some things, and found out that the iTunes file needs to be in mp3 format in order for me to import it into audacity. I went into iTunes preferences, and I was able to create an mp3 version of the songs. Once this was all done, I imported the 4 songs into audacity, and cut the songs to about 2-3 seconds each. I zoomed in a lot so that I could get the timing down perfectly. When it was all done, I uploaded to soundcloud, and embedded the file here.

She looked at me!

Assignment: Mashing Friends and Emojis 4.5 Stars

Assignment Description: For this assignment you are to take a picture of one of your friends or just a person that is in the moment doing something exactly like an emoji and then mash them together for comparison.

dr wisdom embarassedLove of my life:  Hey y’all, Dr. Wisdom here! This was a great photo taken of me back in the day. It was the day that I met my wonderful wife. I walked in the bar, and I just couldn’t believe my eyes. She was and still is the most beautiful woman I’ve ever seen. I believe that my face looks most similar to this emoji to the right of me. I was quite embarrassed, and I do believe my cheeks turned bright red.

The Surgery of it all: A two picture photo collage really isn’t hard to make. I used the always fun BeFunky site to put together my collage. I just found both of these images on google, saved them, then uploaded them to BeFunky to make the collage.

I Mustache You to Check Your Instagram

For my second remix, I chose  the website title mash up. I chose to use Facebook and Instagram because those are my two favorite outlets of social media. When I remixed the assignment, my challenge was to incorporate a mustache into the picture.

I started the assignment by simply uploading this picture of the Instagram logo into a drawing/editing website called sketchpad.

I then covered the letters with white paint and added a textbox to change the word to Facebook. I kept the cursive looking font so that it would still match the original logo. Then I imported a picture of a mustache and placed it right below the word Facebook, almost as if the word is the face, which is punny because it is called Facebook.

Here is my final product:
