Sports Team Remix

For my first remix, I chose the favorite sports team mash up. I am from Charlotte, North Carolina, home of the NBA team, the Charlotte Hornets, and the NFL team, the Carolina Panthers.. so obviously I had to choose them. Plus! They are my favorite.

I remixed it and my result was to incorporate art by Jackson Pollock with my picture.

Below is a screenshot an array of Jackson Pollock’s pieces, so you can get an idea of what they look like.

Here is my final remixed product:

I created this using a website called sketchpad. It allows you to draw up your own creations. I imported a picture of my two teams. I placed them in a way so it looked as if they were having a stare down. They look like they are in the perfect position to attack each other. Then I used the pen tool on sketchpad and did a bunch of scribbles to mimic Jackson Pollock’s art. I tried to choose colors that would sort of match the mascots I used. It was fun to draw a bunch of random marks and then discover that it actually looks kind of cool!

For this last mashup assignment I was to take a picture of something/someone in the moment that was similar to an emoji. I was then required to put them side by side for comparison. Well it just so happened that I walked in on my roommate being extremely studios. Like books out, notebook open, laptop running, highlighter highlighting studious. So I snapped a picture and picked the best emoji I feel that would be represented by her in real life and here it is!

Friends vs Emojis Tutorial

I really enjoyed  this assignment and would recommend it for anyone who loves emojis..and/or their friends! This assignment is pretty self-explanatory, so I knew what I wanted to do for it, but I think the biggest struggle in completing it is finding a good resource to construct it with. That is what I am going to help students with today!

So this first couple steps of this assignment are simple.

1)Find an emoji/emojis you would like to use.

2) Find a friend/friends you would like to use.

Now this is where I come in to help. I found an extremely helpful wesbiste called BeFunky. This is the site I used to create my emoji/friend mash up.

When you get to the homepage of the site, there are three tabs at the top of the page.

Click the Collage Maker Tab.

Once you click the Collage Maker tab, this screen will pop up. You select the third icon on the side bar with the four squares. This is the display layout tab. Once you get there, you click Create Your Own.

Once you do this, your blank canvas will appear. Then you go to the first icon on the left hand side to import pictures from your computer.

Once you have imported your pictures, they will appear in the image manager.

You simply drag them wherever you want on the page. You can layer them or align them; it is up to you. You can do the same with text boxes. There is an array of fonts and colors to chose from for your text.

Once you are satisfied with your creation, you go to the top of the page and click save. From the save button you can  export it to social media or just save it on your computer.

And there you have it! Hope this helped people who are stumped with what to use to make their creation!

Here is my final product using the site!

Legally Smeagol

IMG_3536

For this assignment (4.5 stars), I had to mash together two movies scenes into one. I chose to do my favorite movie Legally Blonde and picked the ending scene of the movie. I also chose to use Smeagol from The Lord of the Rings and placed his head on Emmets body for this scene in Legally Blonde! Thought it was pretty funny. And Oh look! That’s Agnus’s hat in the corner of the picture. Right before this hearing in Legally Blonde, Agnus had a hearing for her speeding ticket she got and must have left her cowgirl hat at the court room! Silly Agnus!

In order to complete this assignment I used the app Fotobom and found it to be fairly easy and fun to complete!

Can you tell the difference?

For this assignment (4.5 stars), we had to take a picture of a friend doing something similar to an emoji. I asked my friend if they wanted to partake in this assignment and to send me a picture of them looking like an emoji. Out of all the emojis, this is what he chose! The resemblance is striking, but here he is posing as a tree.

To complete the assignment, I used a collage app where I can compare the photos side by side and then uploaded it to Flickr. Overall, I am happy with results and got a good laugh out of it!

Fourth of Thanksmas

IMG_3526-1

For this assignment (4 stars), we had to mash our three favorite holidays into one picture! I chose Thanksgiving, Fourth of July and Christmas. I chose Thanksgiving because I love all the food and time you get to spend with family. I chose Christmas because it’s my favorite time of the year! I love all the lights, carols, happy spirits and time you spend with family. And lastly, the Fourth of July because I am from the beach so it’s one of the best times of the summer. Every Fourth we wake up and spend the entire day and night on the beach and wait to watch the fireworks over the ocean. I have been doing it all my life and it’s definitely one of my favorite traditions!

In order to complete this assignment, I used the app Fotobom and just cropped all these images onto the fireworks. It was fairly easy because the app is dummy proof. I also created a tutorial for this assignment so others can navigate the app for this assignment and other photoshops!

Monkey See, Monkey Do

Choosing the Mashing Friends and Emojis assignment was a no brainer, because I love using emojis… and then times that by 1000 and that’s how much I love my friends. It seemed like a fun way thing to do to get my friends involved in my assignment.

I chose the three monkey emojis, because I use those the most out of all the emojis. I use them in a lot of different situations. I use them for cute things, embarrassing/or bashful things, or the literal “hear no evil, see no evil, speak no evil” saying that they represent. They are so versatile!

I created the mash-up using an app called BeFunky. I insterted the pictures side by side and then added the text to give it some flare. I think my friends are (almost) just as cute as the monkeys!

Boy Meets World: 20 Years of Love

For this week, the first assignment I have completed is called “A Changing Character.” In this assignment, you take your audience through the life of a TV character by mashing up pictures of them over the years and putting them all together.

I chose to do two characters from one of my favorite shows growing up, Boy Meets World. I chose these two characters, because these characters literally grew up together on the show as a couple. Their names are Cory and Topanga and they are the big love story on the show. I wanted to capture their love story through the seasons, so people watcing could see the transformation. The show started in 1993 and the characters were only 13 years old. It went all the way to year 2000, where they were in their college years. Then in 2014 a spin-off of the show was created called Girl Meets World. Girl Meets World follows the life of Cory and Topanga’s daughter, so we again get to see the evolution of their relationship. It is cool to see a TV couple grow up basically in front of my eyes for 20 years, and I thought it was special to create a video of that.

I created the video through IMovie. I found an array of images of them together on the internet and put them in chronological order. I then added title slides and transitions to add some pizazz. For the background music I chose the theme song from the first season and mashed it up with the theme song of the last season, so it kind of went along with the evolution of the show theme.

ThanksPatrick’smas!

For this mashup assignment I was to combine three of my favorite holidays into one image. I took clip art images and used paint to combine all of them. I chose St. Patrick’s Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas. I chose these three because my family and I always do something on them and they tend to be some of the busiest days for us! My family is a family of Irish dancers so you can now see why I would choose St.Patrick’s day! As far as this little leprechaun goes – he’s different. Instead of taking gold he gives out presents and steals your turkey. He comes every Thanksgiving to receive his food and every St. Patrick’s day he gives our presents you would receive at Christmas. He’s a charmer but if you’re hungry for turkey, you better hide it or he’ll steal it!

Remix Generator

For this Assignment we had to combine songs together to make remixes, but I did the Remix it button which made me mash up a random song with a military effects. So I found military effects and combined them with one of my favorite songs – which is Photograph by Ed Sheeran. Here is my mash up! This Assignment has 3 stars, which completes my 12 stars of assignment banks!

Enjoy!
