Soundboard Conversation

This is the Soundboard Conversation assignment for 4 Stars.  It was hard, I know the 4 pointers are supposed to be hard but this took me several hours.  I started off trying to get on to Soundboard, it would not accept any of my addresses, but finally I got it to sign on using Facebook.  I picked the Breakfast Club because I love that movie.  I picked 6 quotes to use and downloaded them.  I put them into Audacity and started the process of making it work.  I had to download my audio separately and upload it to Audacity and it worked great.  I wanted to put the song, “Don’t You Forget About Me” in the background to try to make it more obvious which movie I was taking quotes from.  I ended up purchasing it on Amazon.com and I couldn’t get that to work.  I asked my son (26 years old) and he had it in an email to me in 3 minutes.  I am just not as tech savvy as I would like to be.   I put the audio together to my liking and uploaded it to SoundCloud.   I’m happy with how it turned out.

Audio Assignment: Soundboard Conversation (4pts)- “Fifty Shades of Hallmark.”

Since I am utterly annoyed with the whole story and promotion of this very horribly written story, I wanted to have a normal person’s reaction (mine) to the character Christian Grey. I took lines from YouTube videos from the film and had him come into contact with me as he stalked me and figured out I worked at Hallmark (which I actually don’t in reality). I chose lines from the film where he was looking for very BDSM related items and having it lead into the fact that he was stalking me. Apparently in the book this same kind of thing happens to the main character, yet she thinks it’s endearing. I wanted to show that his behavior or “charm” in not in any way appealing or sexy, rather it is controlling and creepy. I wanted to make a humorous audio to show that idea take form.

Talking with BFF Samuel L. Jackson…

Soundboard Conversation – (4 Stars)

I called my boy Samuel L. Jackson to help me out with this audio assignment. I had it all planned out in the beginning, but I lost my notes. So when calling Samuel, I couldn’t remember what we were going to talk about. Lets just say, Samuel wasn’t too pleased with me.

Shinji’s Confession

I did this 4 star assignment using this soundboard. Shinji is a character from Neon Genesis Evangelion, and his english voice actor is regarded as one of the most whiny sounding individuals yet. picked this assignment because I had the soundboard at the ready, it would knock out my remaining stars for the week, and I feel pretty good about using Audacity. I read through the sound byte options and felt that either a conversation in the afterlife or an interrogation room would work the best. Lots of self-hatred and panic.

I first wrote out a script, so I could record the bytes in the correct order and organize more efficiently. Then, I used my headphones to record Shinji, and I got pretty okay sound quality this way. I then recorded myself saying my own lines, and I edited them together. I added some sound effects during his arrest in order to make it more clear what was going on. Screen Shot 2015-02-05 at 5.46.36 PM

DS106 Final Project: A Conversation With Professor Jackson

Continuing with our investigation of Professor Jackson, we get to listen in on a conversation between the professor and one of his students.  I could not find an assignment on the DS106 assignment bank that matched what I created, so I decided to make my own.  The assignment that I created is called Soundboard Conversation.  The assignment is exactly what it sounds like: students are tasked with creating a conversation between themselves and an actor/TV character using a soundboard.  I recommended using Soundboard.com to download sound clips.  The link to the website is also on the assignment page.  I used Soundboard.com for all of my sounds.  All of the sound clips are taken from films that Samuel L. Jackson acted in.

To begin, I wrote up a script for what the professor and I were going to discuss.  I had to be careful when writing my own phrases so my lines could be answered by the available soundbites.  After I prepared the script, I opened up Audacity, where I began to record my lines.

How I made Professor Conversation

I recorded all of my clips first before downloading and importing Jackson’s clips from Soundboard.  Here is the page that I downloaded the clips from.

How I Made Professor Conversation Pt. 2

After I downloaded the clips that I needed (I chose six), I imported them into Audacity.  I organized the clips in the correct order so that the conversation was together.

How I Made Professor Conversation Pt. 3

With the conversation complete, I exported and uploaded it to SoundCloud:

My audio assignment is worth: 4stars
