One of gliffy’s templates, an example showing the intersection of Pirates, Ninjas, and Zombies
I have been to Ethiopia several times and wanted to do a postcard that represented it accurately but not stereotypically.
I chose to do this assignment because I read the description and thought it was funny. I looked through the other projects that people had done and I liked how it is a creative project, but it also it’s a joke or sarcastic remark about a movie. So there is an art element to it as well as a critique. As soon as I saw that I thought about all the movies that I have watched and made fun of because of cheesy plot lines or funny characters or just a movie that didn’t make sense at all, and I thought this project would be a fun opportunity to showcase my movie critique.
So the film I picked was The Lost World: Jurassic Park. Mostly because I like the Jurassic Park movies, but when you think about the logic, if people just stopped going to the island inhabited by man-eating creatures that shouldn’t even be alive anymore, then all 3 movies are just examples of what happens when you don’t use common sense. Okay, well you can’t really blame the characters in the first movie because they did know any better, but Jeff Goldblum’s character Dr. Ian Malcolm returns to Dino Island even after having nearly died on his previous trip. I took that plot line and used that as truthful movie poster’s slogan.
Great idea for literature classes to tie in with novels. Simple using microsoft publisher. If I can do it, anyone can.
I had a little fun with this assignment. The idea, take a well known book cover and redesign it to mean something completely different. I decided to play on the flip flop nature of Mitt Romney by creating this alternative cover to Fifty Shades Of Grey.
For this assignment I designed the cover for what would be my autobiography cover. I always thought of my life as a dark comedy and feel this cover perfectly represents that shadowy humor I hold so dear.
THe assignment said to put together pictures of what goes on inside my brain. The basis of the silloette is a montage of Harry Potter photos. I chose Harry Potter because those stories inspired me to become an English Major. Also those photos are usually the basis for ANY photo shop project that I do, so that becomes a major part of my life as well. Starting from the bottom, I am extremely proud of the fact that I am a member of the Gold Key International Honor Society and my involvement with them takes up much of my time. Next I put a wedding dress because planning my wedding is always on my mind. Beside that I put the biggest loser logo. The biggest loser logo constantly reminds me of my battle to get healthy again. THe last 4 things are much larger. I put Smurfs because that has always been an inside joke with my friends and I and I have a collection of vintage smurf toys. I chose the Home Depot logo because without them…I could not afford to be making this post. I included the word LOVE as the largest thing in my picture because it reminds me that without love, everything else on my list is pointless. Finally I finished off with a graduation hat and diploma because I am so close to graduation I can taste it.
oh and all of the photos were found and used with permission by Creative Commons
I can never hear anyone talk about MOOCs without wanting to interject that the movement actually BEGAN IN CANADA, rather than being something Sebastian Thrun invented in breaks between lighting cuban cigars with $1,000 bundles of GoogleDollars. But that sounded like a monster-movie strapline so this poster happened, during a particularly hype-heavy session at a Social Media event in Glasgow.
I made it in powerpoint (yes really. Powerpoint is cool again. Like, hipster cool ironic) and the source image is a still from Monsters vs Aliens.
They’re coming to get you, educator…. people are going MAD about MOOCs… Something new on Shock Thriller Education
