Click If You Want To Be Happier

This is my try at creating a motivational poster! One of my favorite animals is an otter, so I browsed some pics of them on Google images to start. I wasn’t sure what my message was going to be yet, but I thought this picture was adorable. I then started thinking of otter puns. This one came to mind!

I first got onto Pixlr.com and uploaded my otter picture. I edited the picture slightly for better quality and added a silly water border that Pixlr had to choose from. I added the text with a cute font and made sure it was legible against the background.

The poster I made ended up looking like it’s hanging up in a doctor’s office or an elementary school classroom. I felt like connecting the image with the text was the most important part of this design project, so the pun really brings it together!

This was a 3 star assignment which brings me to 12 stars out of 15.

Need motivation?

Image result for demotivational posters

I originally saw this assignment about making a motivational poster and instantly thought of the “demotivational posters” I grew up with. That was my inspiration for the most part, but obviously I wanted to make it motivational, not the other way around. Then, a brilliant idea nailed it’s way into my head. (Get it- just like the demotivational poster on the side? I’m hilarious)

I thought to myself, “Lets get a wonderful photo of the 80’s as the main piece in this photo. There’s so many good photos from then.” I’m a genius, I know. It also goes with the theme of the semester.

Jared

My first task was to find the perfect picture. Well, that step was quick and easy. Meet Jared, or at least that’s what I call him. That wonderful shirt, stance, background, and hairdo just says it all. He is stylish. He is sassy. He is perfect, and just what I needed!

But how would I make this picture motivational? Well… that hairstyle might’ve been cool back in the 80’s, but that’s not the case anymore. So as much as Jared rocks that hairdo, I’m going to have to drag him through the dirt for just a second.

I completed this assignment through GIMP 2.10.12. I didn’t have any Photoshop-related software before I found GIMP. Since I was mostly manipulating photos and not changing them, I thought this would be the best option. It was also free, which was perfect. I added the black background, the white box for Jared’s picture to be on, and the text underneath his picture. Then, voilà! I completed my motivational poster, inspired by the demotivational posters online.

I apologize to Jared and his hairstyle, but it had to be done. The motivation must be given.

Description: “Find an image and design a Motivational Poster for that situation. It should include advice or a favorite quote. Feel free to get creative or make it sarcastic.”

Motivation to the Max!

Here is Tiger Woods sinking the putt at the 2008 US Open to win. Gives me chills every-time. The quote is great because it is from The Office where Michael Scott quotes Wayne Gretzky and makes Gretzky’s quote his own.

Stay Hungry

I made this using Gimp. Go after what you want in life.

Motivational Poster (Design)

For this assignment, the aim was to create a motivational/humourous/sarcastic poster. This is worth 3 out of 8 stars.

My finished product looks like this:

Design Assignment

Two things that made me create this:

  1. I first thought i’d do a different Ice Age quote which is still from Sid the Sloth; “ahh you know me, I’m too lazy to hold a grudge” and I would title it “Me”. However I came across this picture in my search and changed my mind.
  2. What made me final come to this was the thought I had for it (being the title and quote it is) in recent experience and indeed in this situation.

I like this as its quite relatable to many people. I suppose the idea od these if they aren’t for motivation, they are for humour. These are quite fun little things to create and can be very relatable to others as well as perhaps expressing emotion or fulfilment in the topic chosen, be it motivational or humour.

Motivating You

For my second assignment I chose this three star assignment that said to create a motivational poster.

Motivational Poster

For this assignment, I was inspired by something last week and my superhero character. Last week, when I listened to the DS 106 radio, I listened to a Batman show where, for the most part, he was very tired and needed a break. I used that inspiration for my own character. Although my character is not fighting super villains every day, health is still very important. Everyone needs their sleep to operate. So “With great power comes great need to take a nap,” featuring miss Weather Woman’s cat Clara taking her own catnap. I feel like nothing gets a message across quite like a cat poster. The “Hang in there” poster with a cat on the rope is one of my favorite motivational posters. I can picture this hanging on Weather Woman’s area at work as a reminder to take a beauty nap so that she’s refreshed to give her daily weather report.

congrats – design assignment –

Oh look! Another Pidge inspired design.

For today’s design assignment, I chose a fun one; creating a motivational poster. I wanted to originally do something sarcastic or “meme-ful” but alas…I’m not feeling any sarcasm rolling out of my brain and last night was filled with Voltron binging. So, here’s some Pidge instead.

Motivational Poster

Isn’t she precious? (Yes, she’s a girl and she is too pure for this world.) For this poster I found a template via Google and looked up what typical fonts people have used for motivational posters. Unfortunately, I was unable to find Century Gothic in my files and PicMonkey’s which would’ve been used for the smaller font. Therefore, the large font is Times New Roman and the smaller font is Open Sans. This was such a cute design and I feel that I need this framed at work so I can feel inspired each and every day.

Do you have any better captions for this poster? Or do you like Voltron as much as me? #BRINGSHIROHOME Ya’ll ready for season 3?

Victory (Barely)

I have always found motivational posters, or more often seen, demotivational posters as a really entertaining form of media. For this assignment worth three stars I had to design a motivational poster around an image. So I chose an image based on something that happened in the last session of D&D that I played. My players managed to defeat the werewolf boss that I had for them, but one of the players was constantly dancing around his last few hit points. So I got an image from and anime that fit with that situations. The anime is Beyond the Boundary.

Here’s the poster:

Making the poster was really simple. There are tons of different resources online that let you build a poster from an image you upload. I used the one over at bighugelabs.

Anti-Motivational

bleh3

The color scheme of this photo was too bomb not to make into an anti-motivational poster.  Pixlr has become my friend this week so I was able to make this fairly quickly.  Just a bit of font change and positioning and voila.  The perfect thing to make you give up on all  of life’s aspirations.
