OK so I’m bending the rules of the assignment by having it a quote from an anime rather than a movie but it is still memorable. The story of One Piece is centered on a boy called Monkey D. Luffy who aspires to be King of the Pirates. Unlike most pirates however. Luffy is very kind for a pirate as well as bold, adventurous, and a glutton for dangerous situations. Furthermore he values deeply the lives of those he cares about including his crew. At all times through most of the series he is always confidant in his abilities, but then a series of unfortunate events happened. First, Luffy and his crew faced a foe they currently lacked the strength to defeat and it caused him and his crew to be literally scattered around the world. Soon after that, Luffy learned that his brother-by-oath Ace, who Luffy thought the highest of, was nearing execution, Luffy went through great trials and suffering to rescue his brother only to have him die in his arms amidst a great war between the Marines and the Pirate Armada that mobilized to save him under Ace’s captain Whitebeard. Before his dead brother on the battlefield, Luffy’s body shut down from overwhelming grief and shock. When he regained consciousness after the war in a safe location, he was on the verge of insanity from despair and loss. A veteran pirate who participated in the battle, Jinbei the Honorable proceeded to save Luffy from himself by reminding him that though Ace was gone he mustn’t count his losses alone and it was that Luffy realized that he still had his crew in this world. There are many messages in One Piece and this one concerns being able to face loss and move on.
One of my favorite movies of all time is Grand Budapest Hotel, directed by Wes Anderson. The characters M. Gustav H and Zero Moustafa, the lobby boy, have a quirky yet endearing relationship in the film. The awkward, crass, and dry humor peaks through especially in their use of language and dialogue. This quote is my favorite because it encapsulates everything M. Gustav stands for. He is a serious, jittery, yet highly intellectual man who gets worked up quite easily, only to say “oh, fuck it” and move on.
I decided for my first assignment of the week that I’d do a design assignment. The design assignment I chose to do was the Favorite Move Quote assignment. I picked this assignment because I don’t watch movies often, but when I do I’ll watch the same one over and over again until I can quote the whole thing.
When I saw that I could use my favorite movie quote for an assignment for this class, I knew that I had to use a quote from the Notebook. The Notebook is a movie that a lot of people love, but a lot also hate it. From what I’ve seen when I tell people I love the Notebook, I get put in a box. However, I really don’t care what people think of me, so I just continue telling people how much I love the Notebook (and really anything Nicholas Sparks).
The quote I chose is “I wrote you 365 letters. I wrote you every day for a year. It wasn’t over… it still isn’t over.” Every time Noah (Ryan Gosling) says it in the move I seriously “AWWW” out loud. I think it’s so cute, but also it’s cheesy and I love cheese, even though I’m lactose intolerant.
This quote turns the whole movie around and maybe that’s why I like it so much. It’s when Noah tells Allie (Rachel McAdams) that he wrote her letters for a year because she didn’t think he did and she was upset with him. I love it because it shows how one sentence can turn everything around. It really has no other meaning to me than a super cute story that is part of my favorite movie.
Below each picture, I will explain how I accomplished my take on the Favorite Movie Quote assignment by using Photoshop.
For the first step, you must pick the quote you will use because the quote is the basis of the whole assignment.
I hoped you learned something about Photoshop and how to create a masterpiece using the awesome program.
Blues Brothers has been one of my favorite movies for a while now. And this is without a doubt one of the most famous lines from the movie. It is a classic line that many people know and love so that is why I chose it for this project. My dad was the person who first showed me the movie and I loved all of it. The cars, the humor, etc. The first step in this project was finding an image for the background. I chose this red and blue version of the main characters. I then started with a blank canvas in Photoshop. I colored that canvas brown. Then I put the graphic of the main characters right in the middle of the canvas. I then put the quote on top of the graphic and chose a font that reminded me of the retro time that the movie was set in. I put the final words of the quote on the bottom because it seemed kinda empty and that was it!
This design assignment, worth three stars, was to take one of your favorite movie quotes and put it over an image from that movie. Picking the movie for this was the hardest part. I was originally going to use a quote from RWBY but that’s not a movie. Next I thought to use a quote from Star Wars, but all those are over used. Finally, I decided upon Lord of the Rings, more specifically, The Return of the King.
The reason I chose this quote is because of how frequently I could use it. Whenever me and my friends play games, whether they be video games like Destiny or when we play table top games such as Dungeons & Dragons, there always comes a time when we get into situations over our heads and this quote is pretty much just like what I usually say. Also, Gimli is such a great character and he doesn’t get enough love.
After you decide on the movie and quote you need to get the resources to construct the image.
First, you get an image of the movie to use. Just google what it is you’re looking for and choose your favorite image.
Second, make sure you have the quote right. Just IMDB search the movie and check the quotes sections.
Next, take the image and the quote and combine them in an editing environment of your choice.
Lastly, just save it and then upload.
The goal of this assignment was to pick a favorite movie quote and insert it into a picture from that movie.
I chose a quote from the James Bond movie, Skyfall. The quote was from a scene between Bond and Q in the art gallery. I started with a picture I found from the internet.
Then, I used Fotor to insert the quote.
The assignment is worth 3 stars and the link can be found here.
Choose one of your favorite movie quotes and insert the quote over an image from the movie you chose.
Some of my favorite movies ever are the Harry Potter series. There isn’t one I don’t like. ABC family frequently runs Harry Potter marathons, especially during the summer. So when I chose this assignment for 3 stars, I knew exactly what movie I would choose a quote from. Also, if you are going through all of my posts, you might be sensing a theme here.
J.K. Rowling is not only a great author, but also a great person. She frequently tweets hilariously and that is another reason that I’ve had Harry Potter on my mind. The true reason, though, isn’t as shameless as a J.K. Rowling tweet or an ABC family movie marathon. No. My inspiration was something greater. It was my recent Harry Potter Back To Back Movie Marathon. No sleeping, minimal bathroom breaks, and absolutely NO pausing the movie.
I have wanted to do this marathon for a long time, but I never had the opportune moment. But at the beginning of this summer, with the support of my mom, I endeavored to watch all eight Harry Potter films straight. The hardest part wasn’t staying awake, it was actually trying to sit comfortably for so long (19 hours and 38 minutes, without credits). I had to stand up and jump around a little after the third movie, and did so every so often following that first episode of jumping jacks. I didn’t eat as much as I expected to, but I guess sitting on a couch for 19 hours doesn’t really work up an appetite. My biggest tip would be to be very conscious of your water intake. While you don’t want to be dehydrated, you also can’t pause the movie, so drink responsibly. This would be much more doable if it were split into two days, and I would do that in the future. I’m glad I completed this task, but never again.
I chose this quote because Dumbledore is the smartest man, real or fake, I’ve ever known (or not known) and his quotes always resonate with me. This one especially. Here’s how I created this simple quote.
First, find your movie and your quote. The quote I chose was “Happiness can be found, even in the darkest of times, if one only remembers to turn on the light.” –Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, which was spoken by Dumbledore. Then I opened a Powerpoint and typed in this quote.
Then, Google a picture of the character who said the quote, in this case Dumbledore, and find a high quality picture. Right click the image and save as to your desktop.
Then insert this picture into the Powerpoint by clicking insert > photo > picture from file and selecting your picture.
Move the photo to the background by selecting the photo, right click and choose arrange > send to back.
Now that the quote is back on top, highlight all the words to make them a good font and size. I chose the font Gabriola and set the quote to size 28 and the movie credit to size 18.
Then save the Powerpoint as a PNG or JPEG file.
When uploading to WordPress, select add media and then upload files. Click and drag the photo into the upload files folder and click insert into post. Once inserted into post, click the photo and a tool bar will appear. Click on the pencil. Then choose edit original.
Next, click and drag across the preview image. A border will appear and you can adjust the edges to crop out the white border. Click the crop icon in the upper lefthand corner to finish the crop. Then click save.
And there you have it, the finished product.
This is Slater from my favorite movie Dazed and Confused. This quote just makes me laugh every time. In this scene, they are outside of their favorite hangout spot and he’s telling a story that makes no sense, as he usually does. I did this on an app on my phone, where I found a picture of him and then included the quote over it. Nothing he says throughout the movie makes much sense, but it always provides a good laugh for the viewer, me especially. I have used Slater and this movie for other assignments and will likely use him and the movie for others.
