Guess These!

Can you guess the five different songs in this 10 second mashup? They’re a bit all over the place! To be honest, I could have added so many different songs to this, or made it really hard and picked my favorite instrumental songs, but I just picked a bunch of random songs that I listen to on Youtube every other week or so. But, since the point of the 10 second song Mashup assignment (3.5 stars) is for you guys to try and guess the songs,

Hints!:
1) It peaked at number 4 on the Billboard Hot 100
2) It’s the theme song of a character in an animated web series
3) The artist has a more well-known song that peaked at number 2 on the Billboard Hot 100
4) Uh……..it’s by an American Christian folk singer? And it’s about boats?
5) It’s from Animal Crossing (which narrows it down to about 150 songs)

My music preferences range from “I like this song because it makes me want to kick open a door and beat someone up” to “I like this song because it sounds pretty”. I’m a very simple person. But really, I know a ton of people who love certain genres and certain bands, and I’ve personally never felt that way. If I like a song, then I like this song. Sometimes I’ll look up more songs by that artist and start liking those songs, but typically I just let songs come to me.

That means a lot of my actual favorite songs are from video games. So, like, Toriel’s house from Undertale, or “The Lament of Falling Stars” from Pokemon Omega Ruby/Alpha Sapphire (which I totally now realize I should have included in this mashup!) I decided not to use those, because I feel like they would be harder to recognize for a lot of people, and I do have favorite songs that have actually played on the radio (even if it’s a radio from, like, 2006).

Anyway, still wondering what these songs could be? Well, have some answers!
Song 1, Song 2, Song 3, Song 4, Song 5

Process:

1: Downloaded all the songs off Youtube using the ClipConverter

2: Imported those songs into Audacity

3: Selected 2-second sections from various parts of the song (parts I thought best exemplified the song)

4: Pasted them all together on one line, and put little spaces in between so it wasn’t a mess of sound

5: Exported the file and uploaded it to Soundcloud

10 Seconds Worth of Favorites

I mashed up a few of my favorite songs to create a 10 second sound clip. Try to guess the songs and you can check your guesses by clicking on the links below:

Song 1, Song 2, Song 3, Song 4, Song 5, Song 6

This is a 3.5 star mashup assignment for Ds106 titled 10 Second Song Mashup. I created this by putting 6 of my favorite songs into GarageBand and then cutting them down into a 1-3 second clip.

10 Second Song Mashup

This assignment is from the ds106 assignment bank and is worth 3 stars.  Your supposed to mix short pieces of 5 or six songs and people are supposed to guess the artist or band.  This one should be pretty easy to figure out.

Halloween Songs Mashup

Assignment (2 stars)

For this assignment, we had to find four songs that we could include in a mashup. To incorporate my host character Edward Creeper, I chose his four favorite halloween songs that he plays year round. let me know if you can guess any in the comments!

To complete this assignment, I first found the four songs I wanted to use on YouTube, and used a YouTube converter to download them into iMovie. I then found the sections that I wanted to use in my mash up, and edited them appropriately. After that was finished, I saved the mashup as an audio-only file, and uploaded it to Soundcloud.

“Got Em P.E. Nuts Like They Elephants”

For my first mash-up assignment I decided to do the 10 Second Song Mash-Up (3 Stars). I really struggled trying to find an artist to make this assignment with. I had to go through all of my music and think about how different I am and incorporate that into my decision. I finally decided on an artist that I think everyone would know. Then I had to think about how much of their music I had on my computer and that made it even harder. I only had a limited amount of music so I went with what I had.

The artist is really popular so I had to change up the songs. The problem with that is everybody knows the songs off of the album that I used. I chose songs at random and cut them down to 2 to 3 seconds and put them together using Audacity. Let me know who it is.

Guess this 10 second song

Third assignment I chose was 10 second song mashup. I obviously chose it because of my love for music! This was tricky because I used 5 songs but only 2-3 second clips of each.I don’t want to tell you too much from the process because it might give away the songs I used and the whole point is to guess them! :)

10 sec music

I used Audio cutter to cut and save the clips I made and I used Audio Assistant to merge them all together. See if you can guess which songs were used, it was even trickier because I did not include the titles of the songs in the clips, like I originally wanted to!

Mashup

This assignment seemed interesting right off the bat. It was worth 3 stars and we were to make a mashup of 4 or 5 different songs and take 3 second clips from each song. And of course they were to be some of our favorite songs and that made the assignment even better. Though it did get distracting because all I wanted to do was listen to the songs instead of doing the assignment.

I made this mashup using audacity, I had my songs already downloaded on my computer so I did not have too find them on youtube or another site. Once I finished the mashup the shortest I could get it was 12 seconds and I then uploaded it to soundcloud with the title mashup  and that is down below.

10 Second Mashup

For my second online assignment, I chose to do the 10 second mashup assignment (3 stars) where you combine four of your favorite songs, but condense them down to only 10 seconds altogether. For this assignment, I just took songs from my iTunes library and uploaded them to GarageBand, edited them together, then exported the track as an mp3 and uploaded it to soundcloud. See if you can guess the songs!

Killswitch Engage Mashup

I was looking through Mashup Assignments and saw the 10 Second Song Mashup. I thought this would be great. Unfortunately my laptop has been running very poorly since we did all the work with video assignments so I had to use my sister’s laptop to download audacity and give this assignment a whirl. My sister’s speakers were very poor so I had to do recordings through my phone which made things pretty annoying but I was able to get a mashup of some of my favorite Killswitch songs into one place.

I have been listening to Killswitch Engage since at least middle school and they have been one of my favorite bands for a long time. The songs that I decided to use for this were:

The Arms of Sorrow

Rose of Sharyn

Always

My Curse

At this point I feel pretty used to Audacity and feel much more comfortable using it than I am video software. I know the quality was not amazing here but it also was not the equipment that I normally work so I had to improvise. I am hoping that my laptop is running at tip top shape soon so I can go back to doing assignments in a place I am more used to.

I put some of my favorite songs into this mashup. It was hard to figure out what parts of the song that I should play since each song was only really getting a 2 or 3 second preview. It is just about impossible to judge a song from that short of a time period. I hope that everyone does enjoy this mashup and gives Killswitch Engage a listen since they are a good band and I have enjoyed listening to them for quite some time.
