R.I.P Music Lives for Lyfe

For the last of my 8 stars for weeks 13 and 14 I chose the “10 Second Song Mashup”. This was difficult because with choosing five favorite songs or songs by a favorite artist you get caught up listening to the music. Clipping out two seconds can prove to be next to impossible. After listening to the five that I would pick from over and over, and over, and over again, I finally settled on what two second clips that I would use. I used Audacity to trim these portions, after merging the five sounds I uploaded the finished track to SoundCloud. I expect most will know the artist but I think the songs will be tricky to guess. Hell, two seconds of any song can be tricky for anyone to guess. Hope you enjoy!

10 Second Mashup of My Favorite Songs! – (3 Stars)

In this assignment, we had to create a mashup of our favorite songs within 10 seconds and have people guess what they are. It was very easy to make this all I had to do was get the songs off of YouTube and download them to my computer. Then from there I just added them into Audacity, and then I kept parts of the song that when people listen to they would be able to understand what song it was. One part that was challenging was finding my favorite songs, I really had to think about it for a few minutes and decided what songs were really my favorite of all time.

The mashup consists of four songs, in about 1 to 2 second segments. I tried to take parts of the song that would be easily recognizable to anyone who listened. I feel like that most of the songs are pretty popular and it would be easy for listeners to figure out what songs they are. I chose some of my all time favorite songs. I never get tired of listening to these songs and they all bring back memories of when I first heard them and who I was with. Some of these songs I used right before I play basketball and some are used while I am walking to class or driving. But, no matter how much time passes by these are some of my all time favorite songs.

5 Decades of Songs in 10 Seconds

They say that music is the timeline of your life so I guess this is my life in 10 seconds. This is 10 seconds of songs from each decade I’ve been alive brought to you courtesy of iTunes, the Audio Share app, and Audacity.

10 Seconds of an Oldie but Goodie and a New Fav

For this assignment, I used an app on my phone called iMashup to smash up two songs I had previously purchased on iTunes. Once that was done I cropped it down to 10 seconds and uploaded it to Sound Cloud via Audio Copy. I think that the songs will be easily identifiable but maybe being from different decades will pose a bit of a listening challenge.

4 Songs 1 Track

Can you guess the Songs or Artists?

Four Songs in one track. The inspiration behind all the songs comes from my favorite genre of music, Country. I created the soundtrack using Audacity.

I took the four songs I wanted to use, trimmed them to roughly 4 seconds each, and then layered them into audacity. Next I uploaded the soundtrack to Sound Cloud. This part was very nerve racking because I was afraid it was not going to upload because I wasn’t using original songs. But luckily I had no issues. So hear it is. See if you can guess the songs.

Screenshots: The files will not upload. I kept getting an error message saying…Error Screen Shot …15.03 PM.png

The uploaded file could not be moved to wp-content/uploads/2014/11.

Eighteen Second Song Mashup

For my first mash-up assignment this week (oops, I’ve been slacking) I did “10 Second Song Mashup” (3 stars). It sounded like fun. I love music and all types of music and I think this mash-up reflects that. I used songs that I already had on my computer because I have most of my favorites on here already. It was pretty easy to come up with good songs to throw in there. The hard part was cutting the songs off because I like them so much. Choosing a good part of the song where it would be recognizable but not too recognizable was hard. But I did it!

How I did it:

I opened Audacity and imported “Beachin’” in first. I chose a part that I wanted and deleted the parts that I didn’t need. Then I imported the remaining songs in and did the same thing. Then I exported the mash-up. I didn’t put it on SoundCloud because I figured it would get deleted due to copyright infringement so here it is.

Your 10 seconds is really my 13 seconds

10 Second Song Mashup – 3 Stars

For my final mashup assignment, I chose to create a mashup of 5 songs which all lasted between 2-3 seconds. I chose this assignment because music is a huge part of my life. I am one of those people that music motivates, not only to get things done at that point in time, but also throughout life and my goals and dreams. I can relate to the music I listen to, which is one reason I love country music so much.

To start this assignment, I thought about what songs I wanted to use, and I came up with the list of songs I wanted to use. For some reason I wanted to change out the male and female artists every other song, not too sure if there was rhyme or reason for it, but I definitely just felt it would sound better, or more different and hopefully people can figure the songs out easier!

I used two different applications for my creation, YouTube and Audacity. I opened up Audacity which is the software I used to record each 2-3 second clip of the different songs and I used YouTube to stream them while recording. I opened up each YouTube video in a separate window so I each song ready to go when I needed to add it to my mashup of songs. To start the recording I would hit the red record button on the toolbar at the top, and to stop recording after the certain time (2-3 seconds) I hit the square stop button.

RecordS1 RecordS2

After doing so for the first song, I repeated those steps for the following four songs. The recordings just added to the end of the previous recording, so there was not any editing needed after the clips were recorded. To save it to my computer, I had to export it which converted the file to a Mp4 which is capable with any program/software.

Now, its your chance to guess which songs I used to create this Mashup Sound! :)

11 seconds of awesomeness

I had a bit of fun with the 10-second mashup assignment. I just recently got a record player and downloaded a lot of new/old music to my iTunes, so these are a few of my favorite songs right now. I couldn’t get rid of the last second because every second was necessary to show off these great songs, in my opinion anyway.

Here they are:

1234- Feist

My Body’s a Zombie for You- Dead Man’s Bones

Skinny Love- Bon Iver

I Love You- Woodkid

You Always Hurt the Ones You Love- Ryan Gosling

10 Second Song Mashup- 3 stars

This assignment was a lot of fun! I took beyonce’s self titled album and created this 10 sec clip of my favorite songs! Can you guess which songs they are?!

10 second song mashup

This is some sort of variation on Katy Chase’s The Contest That Nobody Could Win assignment, but instead of clips from a TV show or movie, do clips from your favorite songs and see if anyone can guess what they are. Or atleast the artist. Do two or three second clips using 4 or 5 songs. Make them all different. Use soundcloud to post!
