Holiday mashup!

For this assignment (4 stars) we had to use Photoshop or Pixlr to create a photo mashup of our 3 favorite holidays. For this I chose Christmas, Halloween, and The 4th of July. I chose to use Photoshop because I had already had the trial downloaded onto my computer. I had never used Photoshop to this extent before and it took a little bit to become aware of how to use the layers. There are some awesome tutorials online on how to use Photoshop layers that you can find here. I made sure all of my photos were transparent by using the Lunapic transparent tool found here. Then used the layers to add photos as needed in a separate layer until I was satisfied with my ending photo.

The second part of the assignment was to tell the story behind the masterpiece I created and why I created it. I love Halloween because it gives children, and even adults to be something that they life. I feel like it’s a time for everyone to be something they aspire to be, or just be plain silly. It allows you to step out of your comfort zone and not be yourself for one night. Then there Christmas. This is probably my favorite time of year. Not because of the gifts, but because of the family spirit and quality time that I get to spend with everyone. I feel like it puts everyone in a better mood and everyone is festive. Last but not least, The 4th of July. I love this day because my family usually gets together to cook out and spend more time together to celebrate America and commemorate the adoption of the Declaration of Independence in 1776 by the Continental Congress.

So below you will get to see my snowman decorated with all of my favorite holidays! I wanted to make sure I did enough work to constitute the star rating I got, so I made sure to add in enough and balance it out. More work for more stars. (:

I hope you enjoy my masterpiece!

Thanksmas Sunday

I completed the 4-star “Holiday Mashup” assignment (was rated 4 1/2, I rated it 3). I have some experience with mixing holidays; when my mom came home for R&R during her first deployment, we celebrated Thanksgiving, Christmas, my parents’ anniversary, and New Year’s Day all in one weekend– Thanksmasversary Year.

thanksmas sunday

My personal three favorite holidays are Christmas, Thanksgiving, and Easter– so that’s what I combined, using Norman Rockwell’s Freedom from Want as a base. Then, I used Paint to add in Santa hats on the heads and Easter Eggs on the conveniently placed plates.

I’m actually pretty happy with how this turned out? I immediately thought of this picture as the basis for my mashup. It’s such a classic image, and it’s kinda become the mental picture of Thanksgiving. I’m very glad that the Santa hats turned out as well as they did; they were the part I was most concerned about.

Happy Thanksgiving, Merry Christmas, and Happy Easter!

Mashup Assignments week 11

Im ready for my close up -4stars- #MashupAssignments1945

I made this graphic on Microsoft power point. I always enjoy utilizing Microsoft Powerpoint because the program has has a really cool feature with pictures AND videos assessable to anyone who has the program. Under “Format Picture” there is an option to “remove background”. This gives you the option to cut from any photo. I like using powerpoint because I don’t have to worry about things like margins or overlay.

Talking animals-4stars- #MashupAssignments1862

Now this is my type of assignment!!! LOL.. I literally narrate my dogs whole life all day long.. The doggo featured in this video in my one year old Irish doodle, Murphy! You may remeber him from past assignments i’ve included him in. I created this movie on MovieMaker. Im sure I am not the only one who cowers in fear whenever you have to make an edit of a video..Prior to this class i had never even know i had access to this program. It comes free on all apple laptops and is super simple and easy to use!

If he could talk… this is what he would say.. enjoy!?

Holiday Mashup

Holiday Mash

In this mashup, there seems to be an issue with the holiday calendars for 2016.  Everyone thinks its their holiday.

In this assignment, I struggled finding images that were comparable with the photo background.  I really wanted to get a turkey that looked like it was going to eat the Easter Eggs.

Mashup Assignment – Holiday Mashup

A simple enough assignment, taking elements of your 3 favorite holidays, and combining them into one image. If it wasn’t clear, I went with Halloween, Christmas, and Independence Day. I’ve always been a fan of Halloween; I love the combination of Autumn weather and the atmosphere around the holiday. Christmas is associated with family and vacations; as I’ve grown older, I care less about the gifts and more about spending time with the people I love. Fourth of July has always been a ton of fun, and is a nice patriotic holiday; another big family event day. I found three transparent images on Google, brought them into Photoshop, resized them, and layered them correctly. Not much to it!

3 in 1

For this mashup assignment, we were required to combine three of our favorite holidays into one picture. To do so, I chose Halloween, Christmas, and Easter, and looked up pictures on Google pertaining to all three. I made sure they had a transparent background and brought it all together on PicMonkey.

Looks scary, huh?

Fourth of Thanksmas

IMG_3526-1

For this assignment (4 stars), we had to mash our three favorite holidays into one picture! I chose Thanksgiving, Fourth of July and Christmas. I chose Thanksgiving because I love all the food and time you get to spend with family. I chose Christmas because it’s my favorite time of the year! I love all the lights, carols, happy spirits and time you spend with family. And lastly, the Fourth of July because I am from the beach so it’s one of the best times of the summer. Every Fourth we wake up and spend the entire day and night on the beach and wait to watch the fireworks over the ocean. I have been doing it all my life and it’s definitely one of my favorite traditions!

In order to complete this assignment, I used the app Fotobom and just cropped all these images onto the fireworks. It was fairly easy because the app is dummy proof. I also created a tutorial for this assignment so others can navigate the app for this assignment and other photoshops!

ThanksPatrick’smas!

For this mashup assignment I was to combine three of my favorite holidays into one image. I took clip art images and used paint to combine all of them. I chose St. Patrick’s Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas. I chose these three because my family and I always do something on them and they tend to be some of the busiest days for us! My family is a family of Irish dancers so you can now see why I would choose St.Patrick’s day! As far as this little leprechaun goes – he’s different. Instead of taking gold he gives out presents and steals your turkey. He comes every Thanksgiving to receive his food and every St. Patrick’s day he gives our presents you would receive at Christmas. He’s a charmer but if you’re hungry for turkey, you better hide it or he’ll steal it!

This assignment was worth 3.5 stars.

Holiday Mashup

For this Assignment we had to put our three holidays together in one picture. I ended up using just my Mac Preview for it, because I don’t know how to use photoshop or anything else that is fancy. This assignment was worth 3 1/2 starts. I would give it 4 just because it was kind of hard, to put the photos together, and its extra hard for the people who aren’t tech savvy.

Mashup Assignment – Holiday Mashup

three in one

I chose my three favorite holidays (Christmas, Thanksgiving and St. Patricks day (not really a holiday but still fun)) and stitched them together in an image using the online photo shop tool freephototool. I used cartoon images simply for the reason that despite the fact that they have different artists, they still can fit together. The only problem I had was attempting to resize the leprechaun hat to fit the turkey. I wasn’t able to do it so it appears a bit wonky, but you get the idea.
