This is the video off of Youtube I used to look for comments in different languages because it is a Korean artist and the video is a little controversial in Korea so I was going to see if I could find a comment about its controversy. This is the Korean I translated ??? ?? ? ???? ????? ????? This is what google translate says it says: Is this the place look very one takes a bottle? As you can see the statement doesn’t even make any sense and then even with seeing the video it makes no sense at all. There is ...

For this assignment I decided to take lyrics from a song and put it into Google translate. I’ve seen this done before and the results are pretty hysterical. I decided to go with a pretty popular song so I use Drunk in Love by Beyonce.

Google Translate can either be incredibly helpful or the exact opposite. My mission was to put something into Google Translate that would translate it into something funny. So I played around a bit and came up with this: I found that when I went from a foreign language to English, for the most part the translation seemed to be correct. Google Translate has really improved over the years. So I had to mess around with things like the above to get something ridiculous. I thought that this one was particularly weird.

In this 2 star assignment, I had to find a website that was in a foreign language and laugh at how awful the translation is when pressing the translate to English button using Google Chrome. This was pretty easy assignment because I already had an idea what website I was going to look at in a different language. That site was the Spanish NBA website, which I had heard about in one of my other classes this semester. So I went to the website using Google Chrome and pressed the translate button after reading what it said in Spanish. I ...

This assignment is worth 2 stars. Original statement: Cats rule and dogs drool! I typed in that saying and then went through a series of different languages. My final out put when translated back to english: Cats and Dogs Drool hat.

For the Google Translate Fail assignment, I stumbled upon a Japanese Burger King website and translated the only parts of the site that werent images (since Google Chrome cant translate those.) This is a screenshot of the bottom of the home page. For most of these statements, I honestly had no clue what they were trying to say were trying to say. I laughed hysterically hard at “With meat sauce, delicious addition, the popular American cheese fly!” Some pages are just not meant to be translated! Hahaha!

I found something in a foreign language (ARABIC) and used google translate….which is awful as everyone knows. It is pretty easy to mess things up when we use google chrome. Example –> This Assignment. Bi-Kam ? which translates to “How Much” in english…was translated as “Webcam” by google translate. I have no idea why google translate might have gotten it messed up but I thought it was funny. I could imagine myself going to an arab speaking country and asking for a “webcam” instead of the price. OH Google Translate!

http://www.sony.jp/ I chose for this assignment to get Google to translate Sony’s Japanese website. This actually didn’t yield as much as I’d thought–it turns out most of the Japanese on the site was actually embedded in images, but it did result in some strange textual failures. For example, does anyone here know what a “seg” TV is? Also, it resulted in a lot of the Engrish that one often encounters in Oriental translations. MP3 players let everyone experience the power of “good sound” (with the quotes there). Perhaps Google is better at translating technical features on commonly used websites? Also, ...

…computers can do it better! Right? ???????????????????????????????? ?That we fear in the industry and we welcome war to the consumption tax hike in two years after the first bullet. Eh…maybe not. For this DS106 assignment, “Google Translate Fail”, one must “find something in a foreign language and use Google Translate and laugh about how awful it is.” Oh, and while you’re at it, “if its a language you know, give an explanation of what it should be and list possible reasons it got messed up.” For this assignment, I chose to translate something from Japanese to English. The results, as ...
