I saw this assignment and thought, “Oh man I have to do this!”  We had to make a gif of cows.  I wanted to be a little different, so I did it of baby cows — or calfs.  They are adorable that’s why!

I went to youtube again and typed in baby cows.  I saw one video and thought there had to be something good in there.  I inserted it into the makeagif website.  I picked the part I wanted and made it about 5 seconds.  There are many ways this could be interpreted as digital storytelling.  Anyone could be creative and make up a story of these three calfs that you see in just 5 seconds.  I’m still in the process of figuring Gimp out.  I will get there! I believe!

Peyton Manning Keep away!

For this Gif Assignment, we had to make a gif of a sports hero. I chose Peyton Manning because I am huge broncos fan.  There was one moment I remembered in particular from this past NFL Season.  It was when Peyton Manning broke the record for touchdowns.  He reached 509 tds, and that was only 4 games in.  This was against the San Francisco 49ers.  After the touchdown, his teammates decided to play keep away with the record-setting ball.  It was actually quite funny.

What I learned from this assignment is that gifs really aren’t my forte.  I think I have Gimp set up, but not all the way or something.  It is quite confusing.  So while I try to figure it out and understand it, I just googled online gif makers.  That was fairly easy, but when you embed it, it doesn’t animate.  So I posted the link where it is in motion.  What I did was went to youtube and googled Peyton Manning Highlights, or something along the lines of his record, and found a perfect part of the video. I made it about 5 seconds long.

DS106 background!

Image 6-30-15 at 12.25 PM

For this assignment, which is 4 stars, I made my own computer background.  I was exploring with the “Paint 2″ app so there were many possibilities.  I wanted to make my simple, but also to get the point across.  I decided to have the background color as blue, because that is my favorite color, you know, why not?  I made the “DS106″ yellow because it stands out.  Next, I drew lines just to add a little more design to it.  I didn’t think I was finished yet so I used one of the tools and “spray painted” it with a purple and orange color.  The next thing I did was found icons.  I was scrolling through and a camera and computer screen seemed like the perfect fit.

This assignment wasn’t that difficult, I just had to find the right editing app, because I lack quite a few on my computer.  It was actually fun being able to design this.  It just shows that anybody could make their own computer background for anything.!

Designing a License Plate

Screen Shot 2015-06-28 at 7.15.43 PM

For this design assignment, I made my own vanity plate.  But instead of doing it for me, I did it from the viewpoint of any character really from “The Walking Dead.”  This also happens to be my favorite tv show, so that is another reason I did it.

This assignment was fairly easy to do if you google “online license plate maker” or anything like that really.  I really love The Walking Dead, so it was easy to choose this.  It is a Georgia license plate because a majority of the show takes place in Georgia.  It says “WTCH4WLKRS” which is easily translated to “Watch for walkers.”  In the show, they never actually say zombies.  Walkers is one of the words that they use.  I found a picture of the setting from the second season and thought that that would be a good background.  I did this all from Buildasign.com.  It was pretty straight forward, you can add text and a picture.

For this assignment, I wanted to do a movie that I had just seen recently actually.  I should have seen it a while ago though because it is such a classic.  I would probably consider it one of my favorite movies now.  By now it is about 21 years old.  Let’s see if you can guess it!!

For this assignment, I went to one of the links that was given to us.  The nounproject search.  I typed in the search bar 4 things that reminded me of this movie.  It was actually very simple.  I feel like I could do this for a lot of movies.  I had fun with this one.

Common Everyday Object – Visual Assignment

Common Everyday Object

My common everyday object was a purple stapler.  I chose this because it was the first thing I saw on my desk that made me think, “hmm I use that almost everyday.”  So I took a picture of it!  I used my iPhone to edit it.  I have a couple of picture editing apps so that is how I did it.  This is the original photo:

What’s in your bag?-Visual Assignment

What’s in Your Bag?

IMG_9449

The contents of my bag/purse are simple.  It is because I don’t care to carry around too much throughout the day.

They include:  (1) My wallet – that is just a given.  You need your wallet for almost everything. (2) My car keys – I mean, how can I start my car without my keys? (3)  A water bottle – I always carry around a bottle of water.  Especially during the summer, it gets really hot, and people can get dehydrated.  (4) My microfiber lens cleaner – I wear my glasses more than I wear my contacts, and they can get dirty really easily.  (5) Hand Sanitizer – I just like to have it, it is always good to have. (6) Gum – I always like to have gum with me as well.

What I did was grabbed my purse and dumped the contents on the ground.  I set it up so the picture would look good.

Color Changer – Monroe Hall – visual assignment

Color changer

IMG_5357 (1)

The picture I decided to change/edit was one I took sophomore year.  In it is Monroe Hall.  That day the skies were a beautiful blue color.  I remember that it was a surprisingly warm day for whatever month it was.

I went through my pictures and chose this photo.  I opened it on my macbook and just pressed the edit button. I know that there are many different ways of doing this.  I focused mainly on the color aspect of it.  I moved everything completely to the right or completely to the left, whatever I thought looked cooler.  It didn’t change the colors completely, but to me it looks a little eerie.  The shadows and highlights are enhanced and the trees look scary.

Pet Collage! – visual assignment

visual assignment ds106

So for my second visual assignment of this week,  I decided to make a pet collage!  I thought my dog would be good for this because he is such a silly, but loving dog.  His name is Tillman.  We adopted him from the shelter when he was 6 months old.  He will be 7 on July 4th actually!

I googled collage makers online and found befunky.com/create/collage/ .  It was very easy to upload all the pictures from my computer.  As I have mentioned before,  I do take a lot of pictures of my dog so this proved easy for me.

misleading habitat for humanity-visual assignment

Assignment Prompt

I chose this picture because it makes me laugh.  I was on my habitat for humanity trip in Maryville, Tennessee which took place during spring break of this year.  It was cold and rainy, but it was one of the best times I have ever had.  This picture was taken toward the end of the day.  We had to clean off the paint brushes and rollers.  At this point we hadn’t done much in terms of actually building a house.  We were just cleaning paint rollers off that were used the previous day.  When you think of Habitat for Humanity you think of hammers and power saws, not hoses.

I wasn’t sure at first as to what picture to use.  I could have found some random one on the internet, but I wanted to make it more personal.  I picked this one, because like I said above, it made me laugh.  The difficult part was picking what to say and actually making the bubble.  Since this picture shows me doing something that not most people think of when the picture habitat for humanity, I thought it would be funny say what everyone was probably thinking.  To make the bubble, googled how to make speech bubbles.  I’m sure there was an easier way, but this worked too.  I got to this site called superlame.com/engine that inserted bubbles for you.  All you have to do is upload the photo.
