Ask Your Audience?

This is a photo of New York City one of the greatest cities in the world. The city makes me believe that anything is possible and when i graduate I want to work and live there. The Visual assignment was to take a picture and ask the viewers of my blog a question. What inspires you?

Muhammad Ali

This Visual Assignment was to find a picture of a celebrity and find a quote about that celebrity and put the two together. I chose to do one of my idols and the greatest boxer of all-time Muhammad Ali. It wasnt hard putting the quote to the picture. I downloaded GIMP 2 which is a photo edite quite like Photoshop. Once i downloaded that it was very easy.

Your Camp Collage

Your Camp Collage was a Visual Assignment that i chose to do. The assignment was to get pictures that reminded you of camp. Well i never have been to camp so i just searched “Camp” in google and saw what came up. I took those pictures and put them into this collage maker i have and the outcome is what you see above. The software i used was shape collage and i found that to be very useful.

It’s COMMON

The first visual assignment that I decided to do for this week was the “Common Everyday Object“.

Common Markers

I was using Crayola Markers to do one of my daily creates and the idea popped into my head. Markers are used everyday….whether it be in school, at work, or just for fun to decorate and make drawings. This object we grow up with and all kids have a phase, in my opinion it is pretty common. I remember when I was a little girl I used to use markers all the time, I never really liked crayons… they weren’t my thing.

My process began by looking at the site and trying to figure out which assignments I could actually complete. I liked this one because there were so many options and it was pretty easy to pick. I have an iPhone so once I found my “object” I looked for cool apps to download in order to change the color. The app that I chose was the “photoshop express app” which was actually free. I took a picture of the markers I was using on the app and then I just clicked on different effects until I found one that caught my eye. I thought this one looked really cool because there are 4 different colors and they are all very appealing.  I think people can really benefit from looking at all the options online too…. on how to change the color and the different effects. If you don’t have an iPhone, I know there are plenty of apps online as well.

Common Everyday Object

ny redskins 2

This is my roommates atrocious New York Giants poster.  I used the colorstrokes app to remove the original color, then bring it all back except for the helmet.  Then I used the recolor tool to change the color of the helmet from blue and white to a much better looking burgundy and gold

Whose Your Superhero?!?

This visual assignment was to get a picture of you favorite superhero and tell the world why you like that person the most. Well I shouldnt really have to explain why Batman is my favorite superhero because quite frankly hes the “shit”. I have seen all the latest batman movies multiple times and he is the definition of a bad ass. He fights crime to protect gotham city all by himself. He doesnt roll with a group of heroes like the Avengers or the Fantastic Four he goes by himself because thats all you really need. He goes into the crime scene that is taking place, takes care of business and goes back to his life as high class billionaire. Plus he ends up with Anne Hathaway at the end of the last movie who even though plays CATwomen, shes a fox!

Over Edit Yourself!

This was my first visual assignment and it was to go to picmonkey.com and over edit a photograph of myself. I went to pic monkey and did exactly that and this was the outcome! I added mascara, a little tan and blush to make myself look like the above picture. This assignment was not hard at all and was worth 1 star but it was fun to see what the site can due to pictures.

Sketchy Kids

For my last visual assignment, this one we were told to take a picture and transform it to make it look like a drawing! So I used a picture that I already had on my computer to do this assignment. My friend Grace and I like to go to this coffeeshop downtown. Last fall, once soccer was over, this was one of the first things we decided to do together!

We went downtown, got coffee, and tried to start doing homework… but just ended up taking selfies instead… not surprised. This was one of my favorites of the few I took and it ended up becoming a profile picture of mine on Facebook for awhile! Anyways, so I opened the picture in Picasa, an image editing software I have on my laptop. I opened the picture and went to the effects section, and clicked on Pencil Sketch. I really wanted to make this picture look like it was sketched with a pencil on a notepad. I really like the way the picture turned out. The geometric lines in the background really caught my attention and how sharp and detailed the Pencil Sketch effect made them become.

Flower Power?

This assignment was to take a picture of a common object and to manipulate the colors. This is a picture of a flower I took during a walk with my mom at the beach this past summer. We thought it was a really pretty flower so we took a picture of it! My mom loves pictures of flowers and such, whether it be in the garden or just around wherever we go.

This picture was already uploaded to Picasa so I just went onto the effects section. I clicked Heat Map, which simulates heat vision, and really liked the effect it had on the flower! It gave the flower wild, outrageous, and completely unnatural colors.

Treyvaux…

This assignment was an interesting one! We had to follow 3 links to these random websites to get 3 random things: a band name (from an article title), an album name (from the last 4-5 words of the last random quote on the page), and a random photo as the background picture.

Everything I had was really random. For instance, the band name, Treyvaux, is a “municipality in the district of Sarine in the canton of Fribourg in Switzerland,” according to Wikipedia. But it’s definitely somewhere I’ve never heard of before. However, I really liked the quote and picture that I was randomly given!

So I took a picture of the picture with my phone and used the Photoshop Express app on my phone to turn it black and white and then sent it to my email. Next, I copied and pasted the picture onto Paint, an image editing program installed on PCs, and cropped it so that only the window was in frame so it would fit onto a potential album cover. Next, I added the band name and album title. I used a cursive-ish font and placed these words over the flower box because it was the only white space in the picture.

I think this turned out pretty well. From the whole image together, I get that the band is a very laid back, chill band that maybe has some folk melodies, acoustic guitar, and quirky but classic voices. Maybe you see something else, and that’s great too!
