Note to Self.

Dear 16 Year Old Me,

Take a moment to listen to what I have to say. Because everything, and I mean everything, is about to change. If only you had known that at the time … the value of that knowledge would have been way beyond a mere four stars.

Maybe next time, we’ll get it right.

A Modern Take on Silent Films.

Continuing along the path of curiosity, I delved down deeper into the history of Disney movies and decided to watch the creative company’s most recent one, Big Hero 6, as this particular four-and-a-half star assignment required to transform a modern film into a silent one, which was a quite common form of entertainment during my teenaged years.

Even during all those times Beau and I frequented the cinema, we never saw a film quite like this! Though there is some notably good art to be found in my day and age, I never imagined that interpretation and animation would have become so astoundingly awesome! Nor did I imagine that the central subject of the film would be a ROBOT … I haven’t laughed so hard since I don’t remember when, nor have I cried. Clearly Baymax and Hiro are an utterly endearing pair if could be moved to such emotion!

The future of art and creativity in genereal is incredibly bright, and I simply can’t wait to see what’s to come.Screen Shot 2015-03-28 at 10.13.24 AM

My Kind of Princess!

If this is what the future of Disney has in store for there princesses, then I must be living in the wrong decade!

The best part of taking over Amy’s computer this weekend has been delving into her life for a change! The tables have turned and I am taking full advantage of nosing into her life (most of which can be found within the webpages and Word documents of her computer) like she has been mine. And apparently, one of her many, many obsessions revolve around the world and creations of Disney, whose work I am vaguely familiar with.

I am relieved to see Disney has finally woken up after all those years and showcased what it really means not just to be a princess, but a woman! Sure, there’s a few princesses circulating around the cinema, like that ludicrous Snow White, so faint and frail that she had to rely on the seven puniest little bumbling men to get back on her feet … Turning Brave’s Merida into a subject for a five-star music video seemed fitting and a deserving honor to this amazing fellow character of mine … not to mention a fellow red haired, badass lass who certainly knows how to handle a bow and arrow!

BRAVE, indeed!

Public Service Announcement-George Bozzo

This is a 5 star assignment to create a Public Service Announcement.  I used the emergency broadcast sounds that I downloaded from Freesound.org and I recorded the audio myself.  I used a fellow character in DS106 (George Bozzo) a known mobster and wanted to warn everyone about him.  I used Movie Maker to make this.  I learned a lot because getting the sound where I wanted it was a little difficult at first.

Don’t Mess With Zuckerberg

Redub The Audio (4 Stars)

Mark Zuckerberg in this movie is kind of my kind of guy. An intelligent guy with a HUGE chip on his shoulder. Anyways I changed the audio to portray him and his jerk of a teacher. To be honest he is not that much of a jerk, but I digress. I use my voice as the Zuckerberg and the teacher. It was a little difficult because I was trying to attempt at some humor, match their lips and facial tones. I think I pulled it off, what do you think?

Video Assignment

This 5 star assignment was to put together a Montage of a person special to me.   Isabelle’s favorite author is Agatha Christie so that is who I did the montage on.  I used PowerPoint to put it together.  I did research on Agatha Christie in order to make it work.  Here is my video.

That Foley Assignment

For this Assignment, rated 4 stars. I had to mute the audio track on this section of ‘The Lions Cage’.

I used Adobe Premiere Pro for this, (as usual). It’s the easiest to use and also gives me the ability to remove the audio too. Once the audio was muted and removed, I inserted an new music track. I used music that I got off YouTube for another Uni project and already had saved on my desktop. The music is happy and gives the audience a false sense of security, because literally anything could happen.

Then after looking through other student Foley sounds on Sound cloud. I downloaded them and put them in with the music. I had to monitor the audio levels to make sure that the music wasn’t too loud, or the Foley wasn’t too quiet etc.

A bit of Pre-Production

Video Assignments, just like the web assignments and all the rest. I looked forwards into Unit 10 and saw that I’ll have to complete 16 stars worth of video assignments. Anyway, For this pre-production section in unit 9, I had to choose one of the Video assignment, and JUST do the pre-production work for it. So everything that i can possibly do, without actually editing video.

I found an assignment called Return to the silent era. http://assignments.ds106.us/assignments/return-to-the-silent-era/ which is about getting a modern film trailer, muting the existing audio and making it black and white, inserting cue cards, new music etc. The film I chose to do this for, is The Wolf Of Wall Street.

So what did I need for the Pre-production bit of this assignment?

Well first of all, I needed to get the trailer. I did this using http://www.clipconverter.cc/ which is a site that allows you to enter the URL of a Youtube video, and it’ll download it wherever you want, and in whatever format you want. So I downloaded it to my desktop, as an MPEG.

Next up, I needed a good enough soundtrack for my new silent film trailer. Using freesound.org which is a free sound archive, i sea4rched for ‘Classical Music’, as I thought that this would work well, and the example of other work I saw had classical music and it worked really well. Then I simply downloaded that too.

All done! All i can do now is to finish uni 9 and wait until I start the vieo assignments section in unit 10. Then I can start editing.

Chloe Bruce is my girl!

Found this video assignment and I was like yaaaaahhhhhas!

Life as a dog

This is a 4 Star assignment that I just loved doing.  It took me a long time because I’m not very good with video yet.   I started with Powerpoint and put in pictures of my dog Dixie.  Then I made a few video’s of her “fetching” and put them on Movie Maker so I could add titles.  Then I found the perfect song and used

http://www.onlinevideoconverter.com/video-converter#

to convert the song to an MP3 so I could use it on my video.  I added everything to PowerPoint and then had to “optimize the Video” so I could save it as a WMV.  Then I posted it on YouTube.  Here is my final video.
