My first self talking to camera YouTube video! When I saw this assignment it was a no brainier to pick it. My friends are always looking my keys and seeing what new things I have on them. Like I said in the video I believe you can learn about someone by their key chain… and shoes (but that’s a different story). This assignment was pretty easy, the hardest part was figuring how to record myself on YouTube… and even that wasn’t hard. I pretty much just told the same story I tell to my friends to the camera. I recorded, I reviewed my video or audio and mess ups. It was here that I realized I said “anniversary” instead of “honeymoon”. Through playing around on YouTube I stumbled upon the caption/ floating bubble text. I have always seen YouTubers do captions and things like that… now I know how. How To Tutorial: 3 stars

This tutorial is of James Black doing James Black things and showing you how to load his service weapon magazine . In the video you will also get an appearance from his brother Jake Black, showing how to drink a beer.

5 Seconds Of Fame: 2 stars

For this assignment, we were required to take a 5 min video. This video that i made is of my roommates dog Ruger. He is a year and a half old chocolate lab who is also an amazing hunting dog. Now that duck season is over, he is either in his cage or hanging out with us. I used my phone for this video so sorry if the quality is bad.

Speed Up Your Work Day: 2 Stars

For this assignment, we were required to take a video of our “Work Day” and speed it up. The video that I made is me doing work for my internship at USGS. my assignment is to use the data collected by the USGS to make an online Story Map that Shows their work.

This was an extremely video to make including the the editing. I used my GoPro HERO4 Silver to take the video. Its an hour long video and i shortened it down to roughly 2 minutes.

This week, I made the choice to do 8 stars of assignments. The first video assignment I chose was Vernacular Video– The History of a Word. It says to choose a favorite word and write about its history, but I thought this would be a good opportunity to tell the history of the name of my character, which I actually put a little more thought into than may have been expected. So, this assignment is the *4 stars* I’m relating to Edie. And because it has to include another character, I thought I would add similar information on July Laszakovit’s Isabelle Franklin.

In order to make this video I uploaded pictures I found on Google into iMovie on my computer. I then recorded myself on Audacity reading a short script that I wrote. I used Audacity instead of the record function on iMovie because I didn’t like how it was set up. So, after recording on Audacity, I exported my recording to iTunes and then uploaded it into iMovie. I then set the timing of the pictures to go along with what I was saying by adjusting the clips. Next, I exported the video and uploaded it to youtube! Hope you enjoy it

Seems very old school – MP4 video. But George wants to meet Red some kind of bad! He loved his interview with her and really wants to pursue her and help with her career and where she is going! As you scroll over the title – watch the silent video clip as George tries to share his feelings and what he would like to do!

I just wanted to crawl (or flip) into bed. Once again I chose to do a video for music but this assignment was different. It wanted an actual music video and I decided on incorporating my noir character and another. In all honesty I have no idea who else this is about because I just couldn’t find the right noir character from my fellow DS106ers. Regardless, I consider this involving another character because I took the time to look through people’s blogs and try to find a character. None really stuck with me though. I know, however, that one will some day. I just don’t feel it right now.

My video is about a past relationship Layla had with someone else. It ended badly of course and much of the content of the video incorporates some aspect of their relationship. I added a lot of red because that is Layla’s favorite color and the overall song adds a mellow atmosphere. The fire and smoke reminded me of danger and safety at the same time and that’s what the relationship was. It didn’t last long but it was intense. Layla would actually admit that he was very important to her. Of course, he wasn’t as important as Terrence or Marcus. No one was. But he did get close. Their relationship would be one she would never forget.

For this assignment I had to find a viral video and re-enact it. I chose to re-enact the “Yosemitebear Mountain Double Rainbow 1-8-10″ video. This video went viral because the guy is overreacting to the double rainbow and starts crying. I thought it would be funny and entertaining if I did it myself. To make this I drew the double rainbows and background and then took a video of myself talking while looking at the picture. Below is the original and my re-enactment of the video.

So for my final video assignment this week I chose to write a letter to my 16 year old self then make a video about it. I chose to do this assignment because there is so much I would tell myself to do and what not to do if I could go back to when I was 16. Also because so much has happened these last 4 years I just thought it would be polite to warn my 16 year old self for what is coming…if I could of course. This letter is really personal and kinda focuses around a relationship that I had that was off and on for four years and started when I was 16 so that’s why a major portion of the letter is dedicated to that. To do this video, I first wrote the letter in my “notes” on my mac and then used Photo Booth to record myself reading it. I’m trying to come out of my shell with my feelings and this is the first step to that. Keeping my feelings bottled up is just slowly killing me and this blog is one way to get those toxic feelings out. So here is my letter…

Damn it, Lawrence, you gotta lay off the flowers.

Victoire stared in wonder at the not one, but THREE bouquets of flowers that came to her door that afternoon.

“You gotta be kidding me!” she said, shaking her head, “This is ridiculous!”

The two of them had barely spent any time together (I mean it was what, three dates?) and the man was sending her these flowers. Victoire was overwhelmed. The last time anybody had gotten her flowers en masse like this was when she was dating her dead husband. She didn’t know how she felt about this.

So, she stared at them for awhile, then brought them downstairs and gave them to the lady at the desk who looked mopey that morning. She needed them for than Victoire did, that’s for damn sure.

The lady at the desk looked she was about to cry as Victoire handed the flowers over.

“Oh, Miss! You can’t be serious, these are for me?” She said, while eagerly reaching for the bouquets.

“Sure,” said Victoire, smiling a bit, “I have no need for them, and I have allergies so they really are a bother.”

That was a complete lie. But this girl didn’t have to know that. She looked so damn pleased with the second hand gift, Victoire almost felt sorry that she didn’t like the flowers more. But, as it were, she was still confused. Having the flowers around would only remind her of the charming man who wanted her affections. The worst part was Victoire kind of wanted to give them to him. Sex was one thing. Love? God, that’s a different ball game.
