How I Met Your Mother Trailer- Video assignment

This is a 4 star assignment to create a trailer for a Tv show of my choice. I picked How I Met Your Mother. It is by far the most amazing TV show I have watched. I enjoyed making this video and trying to remember funny scenes, look them up, download them and cut parts and past it to create the trailer you will watch. I used I movie to edit, cut and add transitions. It took a long time but it was defiantly worth it. It is amazing how I still find these scenes funny and laugh over and over as I was doing this. Here you go and enjoy! :D

“Don’t Be Such A Show-Off”
.Too Late!

I took a different approach to the interactive character assignment this week. Rather than assuming the role of Julia James, I decided it was time to show off some of the work I have created, with her in mind. This provided a perfect opportunity to work with Brianne Comden, as we collaborated to make a … Continue reading “Don’t Be Such A Show-Off”….Too Late!

Soccer is life!

What’s your skill? (4.5 stars)

I have played soccer since before I can remember, it is my passion, my life. I created this montage of clips and pictures from my trip to Memphis for Club Nationals this passed November. I have also included some fun pictures from Nationals in Arizona from the year prior as well.

It Is Me
 Victoire

This video is a shout out to Victoire… I thought it might be fun to dress up as her to do this quick video. The original assignment was about bragging about yourself, and I figured Victoire would probably be really good at that so I gave it a whirl.

I used my webcam to make the video, threw it into iMovie, and here we are!

Kiss Me Deadly: Shadow

Ok so here is my video essay.

I actually had a hard time creating this video. It took a lot of time for me to learn how to use all the different types of software, and to implement them into the video itself. Watching the movie took awhile to do as well. I especially had difficulty with continually updating my imovie program so that the voice over option was even an option. I think I had to update at least twice….? I usually don’t make movies, so that’s probably why it was so behind.

Also, I was filming myself using my webcam, and it would start to lag every 1:30 or so. Which was really, really obnoxious mainly because I didn’t know how to fix it. In the video there might be segments where the audio keeps going and the video of my face stops at a weird expression for a couple of seconds. I apologize, but I REALLY have no idea how to correct this error.

Furthermore, I had difficulty in motivating myself to do this project. I haven’t had too many problems in the other assignments, but this one, for whatever reason, was like pulling teeth. I’m not sure if it was because I’m fuzzy about how to make videos as having never really had the opportunity to make them, or if making a video is just a LOT of work. Either way, I did my best!

Also, my wordpress account updated (which is great) but now I have been having difficulty putting in media from websites and the like into my posts. Case and point, I am having a heck of a time embedding my video into this post…. the versions of word press keep switching on me. This is also why, in my weekly summary, there are more links than videos available.

here you go!!

Tis Hard To Be A Dog

For this assignment, I took pictures of my dog from earlier this winter and put them in black and white, and tried to do a noir version…. kinda like Henri the Existentialist Cat. Pretty sure I’m not on that level yet, but hey. I’m trying.

I used imovie to string the photos together then used voice over to voice in a quick story.

“Notorious” B.I.G. (Movie)

A major part of this week’s assignment was to create a video essay for a movie that was included on a list that the professors provided. Considering that I have always wanted to watch an Alfred Hitchcock film, I chose “Notorious”. Preceding the viewing, we were required to read Roger Ebert’s “How to Read a … Continue reading “Notorious” B.I.G. (Movie)

Lena’s Memory of Scott

http://assignments.ds106.us/assignments/recording-a-memory/ (Two Stars)

For this assignment I had to take a video of someone recounting a memory. I chose to video Lena Meyers talking about her memory of going to see Scott and meet his family in Scott’s hometown. She met with Scott to follow up with him after the radio show and see his business and what his life was like. She also attended his family barbecue and got to meet the people in his life. This was a good memory for both of them.

That Postman is Back at it Again

So yesterday I watched The Postman Always Rings Twice from 1946, because I was interested in seeing how the story we read the second week of classes would be depicted in a film. I decided to analyze the opening scene of the film when Frank first meets Cora, mostly because I couldn’t decide on a scene that I liked best and this one was already on Youtube. So I downloaded the scene and put it into Movie Maker. Because the scene itself is only about a minute and half, I ended up recording about another 2 minutes of film of myself on my webcam in order to be able to say everything I felt was pertinent to the scene. So I used both the webcam and the narration features of movie maker, neither of which I had ever used before, but they were pretty self explanatory. While I knew exactly what I wanted to say in my video essay, I felt that some times it was difficult to articulate in the prescribed amount of time, so some things took a lot longer to record than I expected. I think I would rather stick to traditional essays rather than video ones in the future. There’s just too much pressure!

Silent “Pixels”

After spending a ridiculous amount of time on my LEGO stop motion short film, I peeked into the assignment bank hoping for something quick and easy. I’m terrible with video editing on the whole and was rather pressed for time,…
