The last assignment that I did was called Create A Lyric Video worth 3 stars. This was a really fun assignment. The song I used was What’s up Pussycat by Tom Jones. I have had this song stuck in my head for days cause I was really missing my cats. All the pictures are of my 2 cats. This had to have been ones of my favorite assignments.

The next assignment I did was called 5 Second Film worth 4.5 stars. The task was to make a 5 second video and I did mine about my character Caleb and Chelsea’s character Shadow. I tried to make it funny but it is really hard to make a 5 second video anything other than short haha. I have to say this might have been one of the hardest assignments.

wow look at this thing. i did the letter to your 16 year old self assignment

i wanted to record myself saying the letter to myself but something’s going funky with the audio on my computer. it only plays a crackling noise and i don’t know whats up but i’m gonna call my dad about it tomorrow. so i took a screen recording using this app. and then took it to movie maker to speed it up and cut some parts. i think it turned out alright. i really wish my computer wasn’t being so weird and that i could have done it the way i originally wanted. but this kind of turned out cool too. you can see my thought process as i go through and you can see my typos as i make and fix them. i planned out pretty much what i wanted to say before and actually did a couple of takes before i got it right.

For this assignment, I videoed myself reading a short letter to 16 year old me. I used windows movie maker to create this video. I extremely enjoyed this assignment even though I hate recording myself. I have always wished I could go back and tell myself a few things.  The original assignment can be found here and it is worth 4 stars.

The first assignment that I decided to do was called Countdown To Christmas worth 3 stars. I am the type of person who looks forward to Christmas time and never thinks it is too early to listen to Christmas music. This assignment just made me so happy because I was able to think of all the lovely Christmas movies that I enjoy all the time. Hope you like the list.

For this assignment I had to take a video and make it reverse http://assignments.ds106.us/assignments/play-it-backward-jack/. I took a video of my friends kitten playing with a tennis ball and reversed it. Then I put it onto I movie and had to reverse it on there then uploaded it onto Youtube. In the video the first clip is the kitten in reverse but then I added the regular video behind it so you can see the difference. I really enjoyed this assignment because the kitten is freaking adorable and it was a cool and fun assignment to do. I was kind of confused at first on how to reverse the video but then my friend showed me how to do it on IMovie and it made it so much easier and really was not that bad to get done. I decided to complete this video assignment to fulfill the requirement in creating a video that relates to our character in some way. If you look back at my group’s radio show Inside Talking, you will notice that the opening instrumental is actually the instrumental from Mark Ronson’s Uptown Funk featuring Bruno Mars. This song also just so happens to be one of El Jota’s favorite songs that he currently plays at his night club each night. Sterling (my character) and El Jota became really cool friends after finishing their radio show so Sterling thought it would be funny to do a Bruno Mars impersonation for El Jota’s enjoyment. This really portrays the funny side of Sterling that you have not been able to see over the past weeks.

Process?

Believe it or not, but I actually recorded my own cover of this song using the vocal booth at UMW. I first imported the instrumental into GarageBand and then recorded my vocals on top to mix it all together. Recording the song itself took some sweet time itself to finish, but I really wanted to make this assignment legitimate. After recording the song, I emailed it to myself so that I could access it on my phone where I then was able to play it out loud and then lip sync my own words. I ventured out to different locations while my friend kindly video taped me with my Dslr camera as we roamed downtown. I will admit though that my friend kept cutting the video recording because strangers were walking by and he was too conscious of what people would think of us, so I awkwardly ended up with footage showing nobody else but me. Other than that, I really have no complaints about the video besides the fact that this is yet again another assignment were I successfully embarrassed myself. Hopefully my grade for this week will make up for it.

With 1 star to go, I picked a 3 star assignment Inanimate Motion because it looked like a fun way to finish up my assignments.

To make this video, I worked with what I could find while studying in jepson. I used my camera and iMovie to make this video. Then i added a song that youtube suggested. Besides that, I think it speaks for itself. Enjoy

For this assignment I had to take assignments I have done in class and make a video of them. http://assignments.ds106.us/assignments/show-off/ I worked with Kendall Parker to combine our characters and make the video of both our characters. For this assignment we both took our favorite assignments that we did for our characters and then made a video. I picked nine assignments for my character Margaret and Kendall picked nine for her Character Julia. After we picked the assignments, Kendall took them and made the video and added music and words to each photo or sound part to give you an idea of what the assignment is. I enjoyed this assignment because I got to work with a classmate, it took care of the requirements for my character and it was an interesting assignment. I hope you enjoy the video off all our favorite works for our characters

for 3 stars I chose the Video Assignment Create a Lyric Video. I chose this because I have seen many of these videos on youtube and thought they were cool. They’re also very useful when trying to find out the lyrics to a song, or sing along with a song.

In order to make this video, I created a color scheme on powerpoint and set that as the background for this by putting it in iMovie. In iMovie, I added the song “Shut Up and Dance With Me” by Walk the Moon, which I downloaded from iTunes. I chose this song because it has been stuck in my head the last few days and I can’t get it out! Next, I added text to the clips in my iMovie. I looked up the lyrics on Google too, just to make sure I would get them right!

I used a bunch of different transitions and fonts, and in some parts I altered the background to go with the lyrics, to signify a part where there are no lyrics, or just to have something different.
