PSA

I have created a Public Service Announcement (5 stars) that has to deal with gun rights. If you don’t like guns, I don’t like you. Guns are a big part of my life and I’ve been around ‘em since I was young. I frankly don’t give a shit about your opinion on them because in this case, all that matters is my opinion. My pistol is always on my waist or in my hand. It’s just natural to me.

The point of this assignment was to create a PSA for something you are really passionate about and I’m quite passionate about these babies. I think this issue needs to be resolved because dumbness need to stop thinking that the guns are the problem. PEOPLE ARE THE PROBLEM. I get so heated about this topic because of the unfathomable stupidity of the humans of this world. Guns are made to protect. I protect my clients with my gun. You protect yourself with your gun. The guns don’t shoot. People do.

I created this PSA using iMovie and strung the pictures together with some stats and what not. I chose not to add background music because of the video clip and plus it makes it more serious without the music. I got the video clip from here and used MPEG Streamclip to trim it down to exactly what I needed.

Again, if you don’t like guns, then go on somewhere because this isn’t the blog for you.

Lawrence Speaking..

Hello all,

This is Lawrence, in case you were wondering. I am in fact NOT dead, I just wanted those little ladies to think I was so they would get off my back. I don’t need any women chasing me around anymore. I have my eyes set on one dame and I don’t think that will be changing anytime soon.

This first assignment was to create a Special Person Montage (5 stars). So to say, I had to make a video montage of a person that is special in my life and there was only one person in this world that I could’ve made it about.

I’ve just recently become tech savvy with making these videos and putting music to them and what not so I figured I’d try this bad boy out. I have to say it didn’t turn out half bad. I’m pretty satisfied with it. It definitely gets my point across.

I used iMovie on my computer to edit the pictures together and then used iTunes to import the backing-track. Also, I would just like you all to know that all of the pictures in this video are of myself and Victoire. And I must say, all of her pictures are stunning, but I could be a little biased.

Holy shit…what is happening to me? What kind of man have I turned into? I look in the mirror and don’t even recognize myself anymore. I’ve changed and she HAS to be the reason….

(for those of you who are a bit slow “The Reason” is the name of the song…by Hoobastank”…they really get me)

Words Seared

Victoire missed her dead brother.

Did she ever tell you she had a brother? Probably not. Some things are best to keep close and not let other people see. Lest they use it as a weapon against you.

He died in the War. It was something that tore Victoire apart. She thought that watching the Great Dictator by Charlie Chaplin by help… for some reason. Isn’t the weirdest things the ones that made people feel better?

Well, when Chaplin got to the part about soldiers, it didn’t make Victoire feel better, it enraged her. It filled her with a fire to rebel. His words seared themselves into her memory. When she closed her eyes, the words stood out against the stars she saw behind her eyelids.

And rebel she did.

For this assignment I used The Greatest Speech Ever Made by Charlie Chaplin. Beyond the fact that it fits in with Victoire’s history concerning her brother and her fall into the criminal world, I personally am always very moved by this speech. Here is the video of the speech, and here is the link to the full text.

I used a iMovie to do this assignment, and used audacity to record the music in the background then imported it into iMovie. The song is from youtube, and is called Window.

How To Be Sexy

I was inspired by this awful tutorial from some year that doesn’t even exist yet to make my own makeup tutorial for 5 bananas. (No black eyeliner? Come on.)

I took a video of myself getting into hair and makeup, as if I were going onstage. I then had to cut and clip it left and right! This was real hard because the original video was almost 45 minutes long! I sped up the long parts to make the video flow better. I then wrote a voiceover and recorded it, before matching up the descriptions with the words. I looked through my records to see what I had, and I found Letting My Heart Speak by NicolArmarfi for Katawa Shoujo! It was very loud, though, so I took it to 10% volume.

This video sure was a lot of work! I think that including everything, I spent a bit more than 3 hours putting it together, not including upload time. Oh well. It’s always worth the effort to teach my lovelies how to apply their makeup!

Love always,1357720572515719230315

The Most Compelling Story Ever Told.

I did the silent movie assignment for 4.5 bananas.  I had an old video of myself and Sarah Mustard that I thought would be very important for the deaf people of the wold to see, since they can’t hear. Nobody should be a victim of theft.

This was created using iMovie. I first took the clips that I wanted and put them in order. Then, I sped up the long ones. For the title cards, I found a public domain image and removed the text. The, I used Keynote to make the title cards. I screencapped these and saved them as images. Then, I put them into the movie and changed everything to black and white. I exported this so i could put more effects on. I added the Vignette effect to make it look older, and I added music (Joplin’s Maple Leaf Rag. I used this recording because it sounded older.) and added the small room effect. overall, I’m happy with this. I think it gets the message across to everyone who should see it.

Jerry: Video Tribute Assignment Tweaked

Here is the updated video of Eastside: Jerry.

It is an exercise in my learning about video editing software. Not the plug and play stuff that has templates and you just upload and find out what it became – but the stuff that makes you have to decide keyframes, audio, titles, voiceovers, transitions!!!

This is my baseline video. I hope to improve with each new attempt. I will still use some of the consumer type programs because they are really cool and have a short turn around. Videos are worse than new cars – they are outdated before they finish playing, usually have a great initial surge and then become history. Once seen – everyone wants something new and different.

The more complex tools allow for more voice and direction. I will use them for learning and also for stretching my own story telling and documentation skills.

It has clearly identified that organization and quality of content is foremost. Then story. The editing pulls it all together and can go much smoother, deeper, and more meaningful if the rest is done well. That said, you can edit some bad stuff into to reasonable outcomes- but it is definitely work!

In my first draft – transitions were clumsy. I thought it was because I used too many and should have gone with just cuts. That was not it at all. I had linked clips and transitions like dominos when they should be layers. Going back in and smoothing that out helped a lot.

Having more forms of media will make it interesting as well. So many stills makes it seem more like a slideshow. Another way to change the slide show feel would be to do narration – which means story writing. That will be a must on the future creations.

All in all – because the subject is my Dad – I like the outcome. But it also makes me want to do it better!

For comparison – you can take a look at the draft if you are curious…..

A Day in the Life of Shadow and Caleb

60 Second- A Video Narrative (4 stars)

This assignment required to take 60 one second video clips to tell a story. I show a day of Shadow and Caleb hanging out through the eyes of Shadow. In this montage of videos I got my friend Moe Bahhur to play Caleb and I play Shadow. That being said I am not a shadow so while watching I ask you to pretend that my arms are transparent.

Surely ya want to know more

This week I chose to do the assignment, Character Description, that was submitted by Katie Barnes.

The assignment is to,”Create a short about a minute thirty to two minute video describing a character.” This assignment is worth 4 points.

I chose to do this assignment because at this point I am straight up obsessed with my character dossier Shirley Mayfield. I thought that I would enjoy doing this assignment and I did! I had a difficult time with this assignment, but I think I am happy with the overall outcome. I uploaded it to vimeo!

Get to Know Conway

For this assignment, I acted as if I was my character, Conway. The assignment was to make a short video giving some insight of a characters personality. By now, you should all know who my character is, so I wanted to show you how he acted and spoke. I also included James Black in this assignment. He has been Conway’s partner lately and  is Stephen Weidmans character. The original assignment can be found here. It is worth 4 stars.

Without you I don’t know where I would be…

For one of my assignments this week I chose to do the assignment, Special Person Montage, that was submitted by Travis Peed.

The assignment is to, ” to decide on who is special to you. It could be a relative, sibling, parent, friend, mentor, celebrity, or anyone. Then you are to make a video of images or video clips of them showing all the different things that they do that makes them special to you. Add music, animation, transition, anything to make the video. In your write-up be sure to explain why the person is special to you.” This assignment is worth 5 points.

I chose to do this assignment because I love honoring the special people in my life and it looked fun. It was a lot of fun! I went and searched through photos and then made them into a video using animato. Once I was done, I uploaded it to vimeo.

I chose my mother because she is not only my mother, but she is my best friend. She means so much to me and I am so thankful to have her. She is an incredible woman who I look up to and learn from each and everyday. My mom is so special to me. She is always there for me as well as so many other people. She puts everyone else before her and it truly makes me smile. She is an amazing, amazing woman.

I put lots of pictures of my mom and I together in here, but I also included some of my mom with other people or by herself which reflects other things that she likes to do such as my parents incredible cake business. Their cakes are phenomenal! My mom is also a nanny and she absolutely loves kids. The beach is my mom’s absolute favorite! She is such a happy and wonderful person and I am so lucky she is my mom.
