After taking History of China with Dr. Fernsebner last semester, I would love to visit China someday. Might not be a great idea to go anytime soon, but Dr. Fernsebner has been there many times and told us some really cool stories about her travels there. The song I used was “Dancing with Gong & Shang” by Wang Leehom, who mixes traditional Chinese music with R&B beats.
For one of this week’s DS106 Video Assignments, I chose to do the Where Do You Want To Go assignment. I chose this assignment and place because I love making bucket list-type videos for places i’d love to go to.
Using Google to find a bunch of gorgeous pictures of Iceland, (made by National Geographic) I imported the photos into iMovie, added some classy music, and uploaded it to YouTube.
For my second assignment of the week for 4 stars I made a video montage of Russia. I did this in the perspective of my character because he wants to travel to Russia to get the Russians and defeat them to get back his wife. I found a bunch of different Russia scenery videos on YouTube and collabed them in my InShot app. I then added Russian Culture music to the background to go with the theme! I hope you guys like it and it makes you want to go to Russia too!
So for this video assignment, we were asked to do a video montage of images and/or video of the places that you would like to go, and add music that is native to the that area or just something fun. For this, I am still in love w/Bora Bora and so I went online, downloaded some images of Bora Bora to my computer, and this time I actually used the video editing software on my laptop (I can’t really tell what it is) but I have Windows. I was looking for the name “Movie Maker” but can’t seem to find it however it’s very very good and easy to work with, easier than Movavi. After I saved the pics, I was able to easily upload them to the software, add some fun music and then save and upload to youtube below.
The assignment that I picked was worth 4 stars! This assignment was to create a video of pictures of places that I want to go to in my lifetime. I picked 5, but there are way more places than even that. The places are:
Paris, Australia, Bahamas, New Zealand, and LA.
I picked the song by Bruno Mars: Billionaire because I need to be a billionaire in order to go to all of these places!
For this assignment (4 stars), I created a video of two cities in Spain I want to visit, Barcelona and Spain. I have always wanted to visit Spain and these pictures make me want to even more! I googled pictures for both the cities and then uploaded them to iMovie. I then found music on freesound.org to play with the pictures. I found the two intro pictures to introduce each city and separate the pictures of each. I then uploaded the video to youtube. I loved getting to explore the cities through google images and hope to one day visit the cities. This was one of my first times using iMovie so it was a really good introduction to using it.
Another four-star assignment I completed this week is the video assignment, Where Do You Want To Go? This prompt required us to create a video montage of images and/or video of the places that you would like to go and add music that is native to that area or just something fun. I’ve mentioned my love for traveling recently and I love it because you can truly let go and be more open to experience new things. Every place that I have traveled to teaches me a lesson and gives me new memories and adventures.
So where would I want to go? The possibilities are endless. I think I would travel to the West Indies first to spend time with family and hang out on the beach. Then I would like to travel to Europe to visit England, France, Italy, and Greece. I love being a tourist in a foreign country. I’ve learned that the best way to experience something that is native to a location is to hang out with the locals and/or visit the small villages.
Barbados, Dominica, and St.Lucia are my must-visits in the West Indies. In England, I would visit my cousins and go to an Arsenal F.C. vs. Liverpool F.C. football match. Then I would visit Newcastle; I fell in love with the city when I was looking at universities. Then I would like to visit France and Italy to view historic landmarks and museum. Greece would be the final place I visit based on its beauty and architecture. I created this video montage of images by using Adobe Spark. Once I downloaded the video I uploaded it to Youtube.
I’ve been taking French for about 8 years now, but I’ve never been to France (or even have left the country). If I could choose anywhere in the world to go right now, it would absolutely be France. Not only Paris and other major cities, but the countrysides and beaches. Here’s a video montage of all the beautiful sites I would love to see there.
Have you ever wanted to travel, but don’t have the money? Well what if you miraculously did? Where would you go? Who would you see? The Where Do You Want To Go assignment involves making a video of the top place(s) you would love to travel to. Personally, I have always wanted to go to the Czech Republic and Romania. When I was in the fifth grade my class was divded into groups. Each group was assigned different countries and with those countries we were required to research their traditions and customs. My group had the Czech Republic and Romania, and ever since then I have always wanted to go!
I chose this assignment because I love looking at pictures of the Czech Republic and Romania. It’s mesmerizing to me! I also wanted to refresh my memory of the material I learned when I was younger. The Romanian section of my video included, Bucharest (capital of Romania, the Tunnel of Love, and Bran Castle (aka Dracula’s Castle). The video I included displays the Romanian landscape (for the full/original video click here). During the images and video the Romanian National Anthem was being played. The Czech Republic section of my video includes, Prague Castle, the little town of Karlovy Vary, and Moravian Kart. I also included a video that displays an aerial view of Prague (for the full/original video click here). While all these images are playing the music you were listening to was the Czech Republic’s National Anthem.
All these different places peaked my interest, whether it was because of it’s beauty or it’s history. I also felt that I needed to see some touristy things. If you want to go on the same virtual journey and plan your own trip follow the procedure below (I apologize in advance for the quality of my procedure photos).
Procedure
Step 1: Go to the Home tab and select the Title icon.
Step 2: Change the background to white and the font color to blue.

Step 8: Once you’ve added your music feel free to add your remaining photos by repeating Step 4.
Step 9: Once you import your first picture go to the Home page and select the Caption icon. A text box will apear on your slide, edit it.
Step 10: Repeat steps 4-9 for your second country.
Step 11: Once you’ve finished with all your countries go to the File tab, select Save Movie, and click the For Computer option.
Congratulations! You’ve completed the assignment!

For this Audio assignment we had to create a video or picture montage of a place we’ve always wanted to visit. Since I was young I have always wanted to visit Australia. I’ve always thought it was cool because of the scenery and all of the different animals. Hopefully, I can go there after I graduate. I made this using images I found on google and windows movie maker. I found the song online also.
