Remixes #1

bumperstickerRemix

This week we are to remix 2 of our assignments.  The remix generator asked me to add Waldo to the bumper sticker that I made.  You can follow the link to the remix assignment, but every time you go there it will ask you to do something else.

GIFs and Mewling Quims.

I have definitely put of this assignment.. I have never made a GIF before and it did make me feel a bit nervous! So after fretting about my Photoshop skills and choosing what to make the GIF of, I perused the Assignment Page ‘Say it Like the Peanut Butter‘ on ds106 which outlines the assignment, I came across this post which was one of the tutorials submitted for the assignment. It was submitted by the bavatuesdays blog, and details some of their struggles with the task and they found a handy online tool for this – IMGUR’s Video to GIF site, which is incredibly easy to use!  I had looked online for a similar service, but had only really come across image to gif sites, which this site also does, but really wasn’t what I was after.

IMURS Video to GIF service allows you to use video URL’s such as youtube videos, and selects up to five second clips to create into the gif, it also allows you to enter text over the top of the gif. This was a far easier method of creating it, I didn’t even have to upload a video! Although it was slightly lower quality than something made in Photoshop or with the footage exported from disk, it did take a fraction of the time and is definitely a service I will use again in the future!

On to the actual GIF, we were tasked with creating a GIF of a key scene from a favourite or least favourite film. I didn’t fancy staring at a film I didn’t like in order to find a good scene to make a GIF from, so I had a long hard think about films I like to make a good gif from. I’m a big fan of superhero films, with villians or morally conflicted characters as my particular penchant. So who better than Loki, right? There are a huge number of fantastic scenes of Loki in Thor, The Avengers and Thor: The Dark World, but the scene I chose to make the GIF is from The Avengers; when Loki is trapped and almost taunting Natasha Romanov (Black Widow), and says one of his best known quotes, ‘That is my bargain, you mewling quim!’.

Loki - You mewling quim

The phrase ‘Mewling Quim’ I thought really showed the conflict within Loki’s character and also the viewers conflict with his character. He is a bit of a fan-favourite in the Marvel world, but things like this show how much the villain he really can be. The phrase was seen as somewhat controversial after the film aired, as it’s meaning is ‘Whining C*nt’, and it being one of his better known phrases goes perfectly with his character for me.

Where life has taken me…

So if you didn’t know, I love travelling… so for my final Visual assignment I chose to do a ‘Story Map‘. This assignment gets you to create a travel map, of either places where you have been or an adventure you would like to go on!
For this assignment I chose to include all the places where I have been on holiday. I might even do one all over again planning out all the places i do want to go,I feel like that one might take me a while though…

Some of the place’s I have been are truly amazing! However, I am yet to visit America! I need to go ASAP!!! Anyway, Here’s my Story Map!

Another Worlds

For another Visual Assignment, I decided to do the ‘Colour Change‘ assignment. This consists of taking a picture, or using a picture that you had already taken and then changing the Hue of it, which i did in Photoshop.

So here’s a holiday photo i took in Greece, the first one is a the real deal! Just a nice relaxing beach, oh take me back!

 IMG_4244

However! For the second picture, after messing around with the Hue, I decided that this picture was pretty perfect. I decided that when you’re on holiday and the sun in read hot it seems to also make the floor RED HOT! So I thought this was a perfect example of how the floor really felt when you’re on holiday!

The do before I die

“So… Everyone should have a bucket list. What’s on yours? For this assignment you should create a collage with AT LEAST four pictures of four different things you have on your bucket list. Add text to your picture of what or where it is. Then briefly tell us why it is on your bucket list.”

For my first visual assignment I’m creating a collage of my bucket list.I chose to do this assignment because this is personal to me, as well as being able to express my thoughts and ambitions it gives people a chance to be able to get me as well. Also I hope it can give others a desire to plan a few little things for their own bucket list.

I’ve always been one to want to plan my life out, however, not much really goes to plan… Ever since i can remember I’ve always made a bucket list! I’ve always had a million and one things i want to be before I die, I can sit here for hours and bore you telling them all. If you haven’t created a bucket list before you can create one on ‘my-bucketlist‘, trust me it’s so fun and so simple to do!

Anyway! So I made a collage of just a few things on my bucket list…

Collage

First things first, I want to marry the love of my life! I’ve always had this idea ever since i was little as well that I’m going to get married on a beach somewhere exotic, just can’t trust England’s weather!!
I want to travel the world, more than anything I’d love to do it in one, just to pack up my bags and go! Go to the airport and get on the first place out of there!
Now getting a tattoo, I’m terrible when it comes to pain, I’d rather run a marathon than give myself pain, however, it’s just one of those weird things i feel like i need to do.
Finally, the Northern Lights are somethings I’ve always wanted to experience, I’m a very outdoorsy person and that’s honestly my dream to see!

If you want to create a college like this, you never know you could print it off and use it for motivation for work for university!

So firstly i thought of all the things I that i wanted on my bucket list, for example:

  • Sky diving
  • See the 7 wonders of the World
  • Swim in the Great Barrier Reef
  • Run a marathon
  • Build to school in Africa
  • Graduate University

After you’ve chosen how many you want and which ones then just simply google it and find a picture to represent that activity! (TIP: If you type ‘Tumblr’ after you usually get some really nice pictures).

Once you have all your pictures you need to write on top of them, for this i just simply used word and used the text on there as i know how to use it, i then saved all my pictures with the writing on top.

I then imported them all on this website called ‘BeFunky‘ which lets you create a college of pictures which all different templates and effects, just get creative! I really enjoyed using this website and I might just have to use it for other photographs of my family and friends.

I would love to hear about your bucket lists, I’m always up for a bit of inspiration! :)

Camp Poster

This is a Visual Assignment and its worth 3 and a half stars! For this assignment I worked with The Spooky Sisters which is also known as Britney and Ashley from the radio show. The assignment is to make a camp poster. For our idea which actually came together by meeting on campus this week, we had decided on first the name of the camp itself. The camps title says it all in the haunting theme that come from our characters. Then we decided to make the date of the camp be halloween since it is a week away and then since all of our characters deal with death we thought it would be appropriate that death is the end date of the camp itself. At the bottom of the poster we put that the camp was sponsored by the spooky sisters and then took the photo I had created for our radio show and used it for the poster and had a black backdrop with a white font to make it pop. Overall I believe the final product was pretty good and I hope people show up to this deadly camp.

WANTED!

I used the website Mobilefish.com to creat a wanted poster for a certain someone in accordance with this assignment!

This poster was created long ago when a bounty was placed on a young James Rives’ head. Some rumors say that he’s been around for a long time and, in some areas, goes by the name Victor to hide his true identity.

This assignment was worth 2.5 stars.

Make my Day

Assignment (3.5 stars)

I am a very busy man, but some days it is nice to think of how a perfect day for me would go.

I would wake up in the morning, and have a nice breakfast.

I would then get ready to head to my studio where we produce the Edward Creeper Show. You may think that it is strange that I would want to go to work on my perfect day, but it is less of a job for me, and more of an opportunity to meet new and exciting characters. Here is basically what our set looks like.

During my day on set, I would love to meet as many new people as possible. Luckily, I have met many of these characters recently, including the Red Reaper.

After leaving from work, I would like to have a nice, big dinner somewhere in town. As I talked about in a previous post, one of my favorite spots is the local diner, where I recently met Victor Barethean.

Finally, after a long day, I would head back to my house, and relax a bit before heading to bed.

For this assignment, I planned out what would be a perfect day for my character Edward Creeper, and then found images that corresponded with them. I included two other characters from ds106 to make it collaborative.

Bucket List

The best assignment I did this week was a Bucket List which features the host characters from my radio show group.  The visual assignment asked for a collage of pictures representing things you want to do.  I was able to use it to say I would see Felicia’s Clown Show, Listen to Scott’s Edward Creepy Radio Show, Watch Gussie’s Red Reaper Movie, and have my fortune told by my own host character Esmerelda.  I was able to use the show posters that each member of the radio show made last week.  It was a perfect way to show off our teams host characters.  Hope you like it!

Camp Poster

Another assignment to showcase the host characters is this Camp Poster project.  Would you attend a Fortune Telling Camp with Esmerelda?
