Season 4 Bleep Sesh

I decided to complete the bleeping assignment during week 11/12. It was a fun assignment but took some patience and time to make it good. First I decided what scene to use. I used the opening scene from season 4 episode one. This was when Snoop went to the fake home depot to find a nail gun. He didn’t just walk in. He decided to bring his old one in on his shoulder. I thought it was hilarious because he got so many weird looks but could care less. Better than that was when he was talking to the employee. At first it was a normal conversation then Snoop starting saying how he saw a nail gun tear up a guy and the employee looked clueless. Snoop just laughed it off and told the guy he wanted the gun. Then he gave the guy $800 to pay for it and it only cost like $690. Snoop just walked out of the store showed his partner and started rambling about how it was the Cadillac of nail guns.

Anyways, to complete this assignment first I downloaded the link from youtube.

Next I decided to bleep out the sound using audacity because I feel more comfortable with that software. So I ripped the sound off of the youtube clip using an online converter. Then I found a “beep” noise on youtube and used that as my sound. I watched the clip and listed everytime snoop cursed since he was the only one who really cursed. Then using audacity I silenced those areas and added the “BEEP” in.

Then I put the audio clip with the video clip in windows movie maker, matched up the audio and visual and the film was completed. It took a lot longer that this may seem but it as a lot of patience trying to get the right parts silenced and the “Beeps” sounded good. Hope you enjoy it:

Take Me To Australia

For the Where Do You Want To Go? assignment I created a video montage of pictures and video clips. I would love to go to Australia one day. After creating this assignment I decided to look into the cost of some of the things I would like to do if I go to Australia and let’s just say I am going to need a lot of money as well as a lot of time off. I used windows live movie maker to create this video. I started out by doing some research of different things to do in Australia. First I looked at things in Sydney then Australia as a whole. From swimming in the Great Barrier Reef to watching the sunrise and set at the Uluru Rocks there are so many amazing things anyone could do in Australia. I found pictures online of the different places and then decided to add so video into it as well. I have video clips from the Great Barrier Reef, The Twelve Apostles, and The Sunrise/Set on the Uluru Rocks. I did not like any of the sounds from the clips so I muted all of the and then added my own music. To download the youtube videos I used en.savefrom.net which worked very well. Sometimes it gave me trouble saying the link was invalid or not available and I would just refresh the page and it would work. For my music I just went for music that sounded cool and fit the pictures or video clips. I added in some transition animations to create my final product. Now I just need the money to take me there. Donations are welcome!

The Party Don’t Start ‘Till I Walk In

Darcy Arrives GIF

Created in Adobe Photoshop

These GIFs were made for the Say it Like Peanut Butter Assignment from the DS106 Assignments site.

The first version here was made using Adobe Photoshop. Here are the steps I took to make this GIF from the movie Pride and Prejudice:

1. I imported my video clip into Photoshop using the import video frames to layers option.

2. Next, I opened up the timeline at the bottom of the screen and selected New layers Visible in All Frames in the small Timeline drop down in the upper right corner of the timeline.

3. After that, I cropped all of my frames by clicking on the first frame, holding down Shift and scrolling to my last frame and clicking on it to select all of my frames, and then using the Crop Tool (5th tool on the side tool bar).

4. Then, I resized all of my frames by clicking on the first frame, holding down Shift and scrolling to my last frame and clicking on it to select all of my frames, and then resizing my image under the Image tab and selecting Image Size.

5. I then deleted a bunch of unnecessary frames by selecting several of the frames on the timeline and clicking the trash button at the bottom of the timeline in order to make my final GIF file size smaller.

6. Lastly, under the File tab I clicked on Save for Web… and selected the Optimized version as well as made sure it was saving as a GIF (drop-down under the Preset drop-down). I did not play around with any of the other settings.

New Assignment: Color Schemes from The Wire

I created a new visual assignment where you take pictures of color schemes from The Wire that appear in real life. While you can definitely set the shot up, I decided to try and find instances of red, yellow, & blue together while I was walking back from the ITCC.

Here are some of the pictures I took:

2014-10-09 15.06.13

Red, yellow, & blue are pretty apparent in this shot of the fire hydrant and paint marking on the street.

2014-10-09 15.08.02

Not only is there red, yellow, & blue on the yellow car, but there’s also a red dumpster and blue porta potties in the construction site. There’s also a bit of the green/ red contrast we’ve discussed before that you can see with the green cherry picker against the red brick of the new student center.

2014-10-09 15.10.13 HDR

This is a pretty simple, but lucky example of the red, yellow, and blue color scheme. It’s three cars lined up on the street.

Since all of these pictures were taken on the street, I could easily see these shots appearing in an episode when they’re out on the street watching people. It’s very subtle, but if you’re looking for it, you’ll find it.

Cedric Daniels Giraffe

Daniles Giraffe copy

Lieutenant Daniels is tall and thin and reminds me of a giraffe. So here is Cedric Daniels with a giraffe body.

Scarface…featuring Omar

This is one of my favorite movies adapted into a book. I thought Omar would fit perfectly just from the title alone.

What’s The Difference?

For this assignment we had to take a picture of something then take another one where we change something around in the picture itself. I decided my cork board on my desk would be the perfect place for this! I Have a lot of pictures and memories on this board so I figured it would be kind of tough to figure out what was different about the two pictures! Here is the first one!

Now this next one might be tricky to find what I moved around.

Favorite Lyrics

3 1/2 star finished! This assignment was a lot of fun! I was supposed to find my favorite lyric and add it to a photo. While scrolling through the assignment page, this caught my eye just like my story map did. As I started brainstorming what I wanted to do for this assignment, I realized that I didn’t have just one favorite song. I have a few favorite songs. So I set off to find the perfect pictures to go along with my 3 favorite songs. After I found the pictures I went to a photo editing website called PicMonkey. This site really helped when it came to adding the text to the picture. I used iPhoto to edit the pictures themselves and PicMonkey to add the text and the borders. Below are my findings!

This first lyric is from a song called The Ghosts That We Knew, by Mumford and Sons. This song is my all time favorite song. I just get a good vibe while listening to this song and the lyrics are very well written. I took this photo this weekend while I was on a retreat in Maryland. The views there were incredible! After I added the text to the picture in PicMonkey, I was playing around with the different borders and I came across one that made it look like a polaroid. I thought this really added a great touch to the picture.

I took this picture when I was on a vacation in Vermont over the summer. We were driving through mountains to the resort we were staying at during the week. I thought this picture would be perfect for my next song, Trouble. I chose the next song because this band, American Authors, is one of my favorite. They are a band from Brooklyn, New York. I was fortunate enough to see them in concert over the summer so that’s where I really began to like them. You can check out the video over here!

This final picture is from my mission trip to Nicaragua over the summer of 2013. We were at the beach over on the Pacific side of the country. There was a storm just holding off over the water. This picture was a product of that wonderful storm. I decided to use this picture for the next lyric, Between the Raindrops by Lifehouse. I decided to use this one because I felt like it wasn’t too rainy but there was still a hint of rain. Like that even though things seem bad, it will always get better. I like this lyric because its like there is someone with you on that bad time as well.

I really enjoyed making these photos and I really enjoyed taking those photos! I like to take pictures whenever I can because I feel like I can freeze a moment in time. I hope you guys enjoy these photos!

The HOTTEST new album from Pseudosetia…

WOW!  This assignment could not have turned out any more hilarious!  I decided to do the “An album cover” assignment and man-o-man was it funny!  The assignment had a link to a random wikipedia article, a random list of quotes, and a random list of flickr pics from the last 7 days.  The idea is to have the wikipedia article be your bands name, the last 4-5 words of the last quote be the album title, and the 3rd image on flickr be the album art.  This combination is too good to be true.  If I ever saw an album with cover art like this there would be absolutely no hesitation.  I would buy that in a heartbeat.  Enjoy folks…

Color Splash

This assignment had to do with focusing on one color in a picture. I used a picture taken a few years ago on one of my trips to St. Thomas. It is a picture of a bottle of Captain Morgan and a bottle of Cruzan Rum. The blue in the Cruzan Rum is focused on because blue is such a predominant color of the island. The range of blues you see are so wide. They vary with everything you look at. From the blues of the skies and ocean/sea to the blues of the liquor bottles, it is beautiful.
