John Legend once said, “We should care about what is going on in the world.” For this assignment, I basically had to get an image, my favorite lyric, and combine those two together which should represent the same thing. It should be similar to each other. The lyrics should stood out to it and this one I did, it completely stood out to my friends and I completely. This took place after my graduation in June 2014. It was the best moment after getting our diplomas and my principal telling us we are official graduates. The best feeling ever.

To do this assignment, I basically used my graduation picture. I imported it in paint. I clicked the Text box. Put my favorite lyric, “We are the champions, my friends, And we’ll keep on fighting ’til the end.” from the song We are the champions.  Then I added the Segoe Script font to my text. To describe this lyric for this picture, my class we worked hard and we’re going to keep working hard in college till we graduate from college and get a good job.

My final assignment I completed was the “My Favorite Lyric.” I chose lyrics from the song American Kids by Kenny Chesney. I like the song as a whole so it was tough to choice a specific part that I wanted. After looking for some pictures to show the lyrics I found one that I really like so I had to use it. I used Word and Paint to put the lyrics on the picture. I used 3 word boxes to put the lyrics here. Hope you like my picture.

Inspired by this small assignment, I decided to see what if it would look like if I had a house on Mars. I used this image of the Martian surface taken by the Curiosity rover, and an image of a window pane found on google, and GIMP as the editing tool. I set the window image as a layer over the Mars photo. I also used the “float image” tool to adjust the Mars background to the part of the picture I felt was the prettiest. I then merged the two layers together, and cropped out everything outside the window pane selection. And I’m left with, what I think, is a beautiful view of a Martian backyard.

Note: It’s probably bets not to open your window like this.

I liked this assignment because I thought that it was a nice way to learn the tools available within a  free editing program like GIMP. I took a photo of my backyard, and decided to focus on the blue of the pool.

While the image might not look like much in terms of color emphasis, I figure this would serve best to teach others how to repeat this process. I used the free selection tool in GIMP and manually outlined the borders of the pool. I then went into “Select > Invert” to invert the selection to encompass everything BUT the pool. Then it was a matter of simple going into the color tool, and turning the saturation slider down to 0. And there we have it! If one would want to encompass multiple objects, it’d probably be better to use separate layers for each object.

Meems once said, “Love is like Lemons.” So I remembered Professor Groom telling that we had to make two assignments I think and I made one assignment for now. It’s a fun assignment. Just be creative. Close the blinds from where you are and try to make a creative picture of it. Then take the picture. That’s what I did. The question to everyone is, what is that bright thing from outside?  (Hint: It isn’t the sun) Here is my picture I took from my phone:

When I actually thought that I made an assignment, I was just like clapping to myself a job well done.

This assignment was a little bit tricky for me, it was hard to find two of my pictures to correspond with each other. These pictures were both taken on my vacation in Kentucky. Creating a panorama on your own can be very tricky.

Process:

First, I had to find two pictures that somewhat correspond with each other. Then I uploaded them into Pixlr. I had a hard time trying to connect them. So I used the blur tool to soften the edge of the pictures. Then I just clicked random sections, and put a different filter on different sections. Then I saved it and uploaded it! I am impressed how the colors turned out but I wish i could blur it together more.

For this assignment, I focused on McNulty. He is very easy to find mirror scenes of because they portray him always the same throughout the episodes.

I thought about who the show focuses on more, McNutly came to mind first. Of course, they show McNutly drinking a lot.. McNulty and Bunk are always drinking together so I went back and found pictures of him and Bunk. I noticed that a common area they drink was at the train tracks. They have been doing this season the very first episode together and it has only progressed throughout the seasons.

In episode 8 of season 2, the opening scene is McNulty on the pay phone calling his wife. Then at the end of the episode he is calling the prostitute service.

Process:

I thought about who the show focuses on more, McNutly came to mind first. McNutly is always portrayed drunk, but I wanted to dig deeper and find something else in common. I found the fact he drinks with Bunk and where it typically is.

I then took screen shots of the scene and used PicMonkey to make a collage and add the writing. I also brightened some of the images because it was too dark to see. Then I just added the text and changed the color.

Chris Rene always say, “Got to love life.” It’s true, you only live once so why not love life right now? I’m loving life right now. I’m going to a good school, made tons of new friends, eating as I usually should, and having fun. Especially working out and I use this every time I play a basketball game and it’s a basketball.

The assignment that I had to do is basically take a picture of an everyday object and make it look larger than life. I took a picture of my basketball. I used my cell phone to take the picture. Everyone knows that I love basketball so much. I played since I was a little kid.When I started playing, I just loved it when I started making my first few shots at my old elementary school. I still play basketball now. I’ll never stop playing basketball. One of my favorite quotes of all time: Rudy Tomjanovich said, “Never underestimate the heart of a champion!”
