Will Smith once said, “We all want to be in love and find that person who is going to love us no matter how our feet smell, no matter how angry we get one day, no matter the things we say that we don’t mean.” So this particular assignment, when I saw it I was interested in doing it. A friend was laughing at this assignment and I was like:

 

So all we have to do for this assignment is multiply myself in one picture. I used a previous program that we can edit for our GIF but this time I’m using it to create my picture which was not that difficult as I expected and that was GIMP 2. All I did was put my Samsung Galaxy S4 Active on my desk and I took pictures multiple times.

When I used GIMP 2, I first chose an image that I would use as my base map. Then I did my way by copying the other picture and then pasting it as layers at my base map (Edit->Paste as->New Layers), I afterwards knew where I was in the picture so I basically got myself into my base map picture by using the Rectangle Select (Tools->Selection Tools->Rectangle Select).

I exported it as a JPEG first and then did it one more time the same process over again. I followed a Youtube video that explained the concept of doing it and it was useful! After I finished it, I was so happy I just had to have this moment like Gus:

In the picture it shows that I’m trying to sleep in different places but I’m so hungry that I can’t sleep and went to get some Swiss chocolates to eat.

This assignment really had me deep in thought.  What would be my perfect day?  I hit google images to try to explain to everyone what my idea of a perfect day would be….

My perfect day would begin with a view like this from my bed waking up next to my husband…

(after adult time starting a perfect day :))  We would have breakfast in bed..

Time to put on my swimsuit and head to the beach…

Can’t forget my bucket of corona.

Later after basking in the sun for most of the day and swimming, I will be ready for lunch…

CRABS and Beer!

After filling myself, take a nap under my umbrella back at the beach.  Listening to the waves…

While the kids build sand castles and play in the water…

After a perfect day at the beach,  it’s pizza and movie for the kids while my husband and I head out for dinner and dancing.

After the kids are asleep, Time to end the perfect day with more not PG adult time in our own suite…

  Now That’s a perfect day…

 

This assignment made it easy to ease on into visual assignments. As always I picked to do a picture of a cow. I thought they were just incredible cute pictures!

 

Process:

I googled pictures of cows and cow art. These two pictures are similar, so I picked them.

Then I used PicMonkey to create a collage, which was very straight forward!

For this assignment, I get to demonstrate what my perfect day is! I loved this assignment because it allowed to just daydream about my ideal day. This was actually very hard to think about, there were so many options!

Hike

In Indiana, the State Dune Park, there are these amazing dunes, which are just basically huge mounds of sand to climb. Over Thanksgiving Break last year, we went on a hike there, it was just an absolutely breathtaking view.

So.. my dogs are my babies, I am wrapped around their finger! They know whenever I grab my keys to run straight to the car and I can never say no to them! We go byebye at least 4 times a week.. One just will not go back inside until she goes, so sometimes I’d trick them by just going down the street.

Journey to Somewhere 3.5 stars

For this assignment, I decided to journey to St. Thomas. Much of my ds106 profile is centered around my trips to St. Thomas because I’m a frequent visitor. My family owns a timeshare on the island so we spend two weeks of our summers down there. It’s such a beautiful island, if you ever get the chance to visit, you should!

To complete this assignment, I first rummaged through my vacation photos. It was so hard to narrow it down to only 9-12 because there is so much to see! I then used Windows Movie Maker to put the pictures together. Finally, I added some music to set the mood of being on the island!

Apophenia 3.5 stars

I had a lot of fun with this assignment. It was one that required a lot of creativity, but I am good at that! I asked my roommate to lay some objects out for me while I wasn’t looking. She chose a roll of painter’s tape and a roll of yarn. I then took a picture and created 5 things out of it. I used a the DoodleBuddy app on my phone to draw the pictures on top.

 

You’re Doing it Wrong 3 stars

For this assignment, I went on one of my favorite websites, TheChive, to find the photo. TheChive is a website that has albums of pictures. A popular album they put up is actually called “you’re doing it wrong.” The picture I found is of a bag of sugar that says “sugar free.” When I saw this, I laughed because real sugar can’t be sugar free. I’m sure some idiot fell for this thinking that particular bag of sugar was healthier than another one. When I see things like that listed on food products, I never know whether or not to believe them, because facts can be misconstrued in so many ways!

 

My third visual assignment I completed was “Splash the Color.” This one was not too challenging once I found the right tool on Photoshop. It probably would have taken me a lot less time if I just Googled it, but I like figuring things out on my own. There is a tool on the Photoshop on my computer called “smart brush tool.” Once you click on that you get a drop down box of different choices. I found the “Reverse – Black and White” option and used that to complete this assignment. I chose the picture of Baltimore City for two main reasons. First, since we are watching The Wire and it takes place in Baltimore and secondly because I am a huge Ravens fan and its football season. I removed the color from all of the picture except for the Ravens Stadium. For those of you that do not know the City when you go to it from the south up 95 (which turns into 395) the Ravens stadium is the first thing you see. Right next to the Ravens stadiums is the Camden Yards (Orioles Staidum). I think it is pretty cool having both of Baltimore’s sports teams stadiums right next to each other and at the front of the city. Anyways, here is my “Splash the Color” of Baltimore City.
