Adapt an Artist’s Work

Adapt an Artist's Work
Norman Rockwell is one of my favorite artists. In this painting, Rockwell is trying to imply during the early 20th century that the United States still is a strongly Christian country. This is evident, because all the shops are closed, and the family is in their “Sunday best.” On the contrary, this shows how much society has changed. Shops are hardly ever closed on Sundays, and seeing a whole family actually dressed up and going to church is almost a rare sight. I now apply this work to the change we see in American culture in just a century.

Fontanella Live

Fontanella-LifEhAsOpeNedBeForeyoU

I remember doing those Album Cover you make from randomly generated things, a ton of different methods of doing this and getting the album/artist name and the artwork. I feel really lucking with the picture and album name I got I feel like the homeless man packed up with his garbage bag suit case moving away I feel like for him Life really may have opened before him and he is moving towards it. The band name Fontanella wasn’t that interesting which is part of the reason I put it up in the sky portion of the photo and got it to kinda look as if it were the clouds. The color and font of the album name “Life has opened before you” i tried using the redish orange lights reflecting in the trash bag and put that look into the text. the font I choose becasue it seemed like something you could find on one of those cardboard signs the homeless often use. i toyed with the coloring, shadows and lights. I made the portion he was walking towards brighter and the part behind him more shadowy to illustrate the moving forward to better options and opening up. I had a lot of fun with this assignment and was very pleased with how it turned out, even though it didn’t even take me that long to actually do. the Entire thing was done in Picasa by Google.

Manipulate Dem Der Colors YO!

Visual Assignment Star-Count: 10

This one was simple but fun.

I simply took the picture, threw it into GIMP and messed around with the color filters for a while. I tried to use the web-based photo editor Pixlr but the website that hosts it was acting all funky.

Guard Life.

Guard

Having a little too much fun with my new app Color Splash, thanks to the Splash the Color visual assignment. It’s a little guard tube keychain and my guard whistle on my keychain. I used the ColorSplash app for the iPhone and Picasa for the zoomed in effect as well as tweaking the shades and hues and everything. I like this picture because being a lifeguard has been such a large part in my life for the past 4 years, being my first job and everything.  It was a lot of fun creating and playing with the colorsplash app, as is evident by the 20 pictures on my photo that I did with this app today.

Real Life to Cartoon Collage

Since I was at my friend’s house for the Photo Blitz, I started looking at Visual Assignments to complete. My friend has depictions of chickens all over his house, and chickens all over his backyard. I took a picture of one of the chickens that had just been bullied by a rooster, and she fell on her back, and then I took a picture of one of his many chicken depictions in his house, and uploaded these pictures to Photovisi to make a collage, and then uploaded the collage to Flickr to share.

Extra-Ordinary

Huntor!

Half Man, Half Scare Crow. Though I didn’t do his make up myself I really liked this photo.  It was his makeup for Cornstalkers in Halloween Haunt which I think made him look pretty extraordinary. I used the app ColorSplash on my iPhone to do the black and white with the colored regions in the make up and eyes (really just cause I have the app and wanted to use it more)

My Dream Car

dreamcar

Dodge Viper

This car makes me feel fast, and classy because of the black and white. If I had this car I think I would be invisible, going from lane to lane, cutting others off and not making a single scratch on my car.

I went onto Google and found my ideal dream car, which for me is the Dodge Viper! I saved my image onto my computer and uploaded in into Flickr. Here is the site from where my photo is from.

1 Star- Illustrate 106

For the final star, here is my DS106 Illustration!

DS106

This one was particularly easy.  I wanted to do something with spelling out 106, so I looked around my room and found the coins.  Easy, time efficient, and… well easy!

10/10 Stars achieved! Bonus round unlocked!

Meet Me at the Corner of…

SpringLakeX

One of my good friends live on Spring Lake Drive, which is a very interesting road because it crosses over itself. I took this picture for the Unlikely Intersections assignment. It took me forever to figure out, What would be an unlikely intersection and went through road names that I knew off the top of my head and couldn’t for the life of me figure it out. I eventually just pulled up mapquest and looked at the street names around me… mostly just a bunch of roads named after trees (though if I had access to the gated community I would have had some great pirate themed intersections). But then I remembered my friends neighborhood and this crazy intersection, I mean seriously how often do you see an intersection of the same road?

Gigi the Giraffe

One of the random visual assignments I chose to do was Buddy.  For this visual assignment we had to take our buddy some place with us and take a picture of it.

For this assignment I chose to take Gigi out for an adventure!  I decided to take her to Target to go shopping with me. I chose to put Gigi in a cart, and put a seatbelt on her to make her look more like a “person.” I thought this would give the picture a more realistic feel to it.

Gigi

For this picture I actually had to play around with the zoom to get a better quality picture, and also do the auto enhanced to make that picture that much better.

I also like how the red cart really makes Gigi stand out and look really pretty.  I actually made this giraffe my first semester at UMW.  I stuffed Gigi myself at the winter festival and she wears a shirt that says “Some people just can’t handle the heat.. University of Mary Washington”  I thought it was so cute and I decided to leave the shirt on her during this picture because it makes such a huge statement.  It’s almost like with anything in life, some people just can’t handle certain situations.
