A Photo Safari

For this assignment, we had a fifteen-minute window to take as many photos as possible which we thought would apply to a list of certain topics or ideas. Some of the topics seemed vague to me, which didn’t exactly help since those topics could be interpreted differently by different people. I understand that it was part of the assignment to interpret these subjects differently, but I still feel like it could be worded more clearly (e.g. “Take a picture that represents joy.”, and “Take a photo that makes an inanimate object feel alive.” )

Most of those images from the album were from Destiny 2, but the ones I feel most satisfied with are in the gallery next to this. The first four I was satisfied with (from Destiny 2, at least) are from the Last Wish raid – the first picture from when I was loading in, and then the three after that lead up to the first boss fight from the raid, Kalli the Corrupted. The one not from Destiny was the chocolate cake my sister made for my great-aunt’s 88th birthday, based on a recipe from my mom’s coworker when she worked at Monticello.

King’s Rule – Spubble

This is the first photo I thought would be perfect for this assignment when I saw it. This was taken this past Thanksgiving, right before dinner was served in November. One of younger brothers had left a few of his cars and toys near the kitchen. My parents had asked me to clear away a the few of them, and I had placed the track of one of the cars travels on ontop of my head as a hat. My mother and younger brohters had thought it was really funny and I struck a pose with my crown.

In order to complete the Spubble assignment, I downloaded and utilized used the piZap from the GooglePlay Store from my Samsung Galaxy S3 Tablet. I had easily uploaded my photo to the app and cropped out a little bit of my brother and mother on etither side of me. I was then able to go to the side bar on the right hand side and select the sticker icon, where I added and set the size of the speech bubble. I then added text to the speech bublle tapping the “T” icon and inputted my very true and accurate statement. I had the option of changeing the color and font of the text, but I had only opted for changing the font to a much more suitable and appropriate

Spubble

Spubble

For this 2 star assignment, we had to create a Spubble, which is one photo but with a caption or thought bubble that represents something completely different from what the image suggests. I decided to have a serious face on for when I am focusing on something, yet my caption was related to my love of music and listening to something I really enjoyed – “This song is my jam to be honest.” I felt it pretty easy to get done, though I do not enjoy taking pictures of myself, which made it more annoying to do, for lack of a better word.

Photo Reflection

Duck’s Eye View

I was walking around my moms deck looking for things to take pictures of when I came across this metal duck that she has as a decoration. I thought it would be a cool picture to make the duck look like it was longing to go back to the pond. This is where I had to get pickier with the pictures because I took about 20 that I didn’t mind but then I had to look at how well the picture focused on the actual duck and I noticed that the pictures just looked like it was a picture of a duck. So I went back and took some more pictures, this time trying to get the camera to focus on the duck while leaving the pond a bit blurred. This was good for depth to show that the pond is just out of reach for the duck. I used the rule of thirds for the placement of the ducks head. I think this was a good use of the rule of thirds because it made it look like the duck was staring out onto the pond.

Drop ‘Em In The Bank

Gambit Camp

For my second visual assignment (worth 3.5 stars), I decided to make a fictional camp based on the game mode Gambit in Destiny 2, which came with the Forsaken expansion. I decided to go with this because it seems any time I load into a game of Gambit by myself, my teams is usually either really good and knows what they are doing, or has no idea what to do in the game mode.

I pictured the camp as a class to teach people tips and tricks about Gambit, as well as how to play the most effective part on your team, whether that is invading or blocking the other team from banking. I found the assignment fairly easy, since I just had to crop the background, add text to the image, and then border that text in black to make it visible against the dark background. The worst part about it was finding the background image of the Gambit logo.

My Favorite Photo

Sunset at the beach

This is a photo of my friends and I climbing on rocks in the distance with the sunset behind us. This was taken in Deltaville, Virginia. I love the colors of the sunset and the way that the water comes into the photograph in a U shape.

It is also a very good memory from my time in high school when nothing was really important and I could just enjoy the company of my friends. I have also done a painting of this photo because of how much I love the colors of the sunset.

5ive Frame Story

For the Five Frame Story I used my Bearded Dragon, Dr?k, as my subject. With a Game of Thrones theme, Dr?k, wants to be King of the Dragons but the Blue Dragon is the reigning king. After Dr?k shows a little fire breathing the Blue Dragon abdicates the throne to him. Dr?k is now King of the Dragons and shows his superiority by standing on the body of the Blue Dragon!

Heraldry

For this three-star assignment, we were supposed to go to jointherealm.com and make our own coat of arms and house words for a fictional noble house, like from A Song of Ice and Fire, better known as Game of Thrones. However, I have designed heraldry on my own for campaign settings for Dungeons and Dragons, and I had several SVG files for charges stored on my laptop, as well as a color palette from wappenwiki, a wiki designed to explain heraldry.

I have made heraldry for the various campaign settings I have created for tabletop games like Dungeons and Dragons. Because of that, and because of what I knew about the Rule of Tincture, I felt like the assignment was incredibly easy. The actual blazon for this coat of arms would be “Azure, two chevrons or.”

My Spubble

I had to search high and low for a photo of me where I am not just posing. This photo was actually taken from a video my sister took right at the time they announced that UMW Men Track & Field Team won the CAC Championships. We were all very excited. My Spubble text idea came from me just ordering tacos for dinner.
