Here is a warning poster that I have created for the visual assignment “Create A Warning Poster”.
Here is the warning sign assignment that is three points. I wanted to do something funny and literal so I took and interesting warning image and explained it literally.
For this assignment, we were asked to create at warning sign for something of our choosing. I decided to do something relatively goofy and make one of those “danger beyond this point” warning signs, but located at the end of the universe. I looked up some of those types of signs, like the underwater cave ones, and tried to mimic the format. They’re text heavy, outlining the dangers of the area beyond the sign, with some symbolic imagery. I did the same in my sign, but instead of an image symbolizing death, I used a singularity funnel to symbolize something more vague and ominous when leaving the universe.
There are so many warning posters out there, so the assignment “create a warning poster” (3 pts) immediately intrigued me. I wanted to create a warning poster for something that doesn’t actually happen (that I know of), and as I was staring at my computer screen for inspiration, the idea suddenly hit me! You see posters to not swim in shark-infested waters, so what if surfing on the net could bring some similar physical harm. The longer you sit at your computer, the more likely you will meet an undesirable end. The silhouette of a shark coming out of a computer wasn’t very impressive, so I settled on a sea creature with an unmistakeable shadow: an octopus! Here is the result:
To create the images here, I cropped pictures of an octopus’s tentacles until it was small enough to look like it was coming out of the picture of the computer. The last picture took some work because I also had to cut the person out of the picture and crop it so just the legs were seen. It took some miniature adjusting, but I finally got the images to not stick out at weird angles and such. All I can say is I hope my computer is not infested, because I will be taken by the octopi in minutes! I suppose the internet already sucks you in, so maybe these octopi are actually an invisible force that makes you waste time playing games online instead of doing homework! In that case, these posters should be distributed as quickly and widely as possible.
This warning goes out to all of those that may be working too hard, for them to stop and relax. The only person that can stop this is you.
(3stars) http://assignments.ds106.us/assignments/create-a-warning-poster/
For this assignment we were asked to create a warning poster for something elaborate and/or never present. This was my creation!
This Visual Assignment is worth 3 stars. It is all about Creating a Warning Poster. Basically what you had to do is create a warning poster for whatever you wanted. I decided I was going to make one that was posted outside of my character Blair’s house. I had mentioned that she had a foxhound named Copper who was VERY protective of her and her family. You can read a little more about Copper in my 7-character Story from week 2. I decided to make this warning poster in order to scare away intruders. Here is the final product:
The making of this poster was not hard at all. Now I downloaded GIMP thinking I would be able to do everything on there. Turns out it isn’t as straightforward as I thought. However, I’ve been using Word for who knows how long, and it hasn’t failed me yet! I was able to use the publisher in order to make this. I started out with the words, and I downloaded some new fonts from DAFONT. If you’ve never used this website, you are totally missing out. Well after I figured out what I wanted my poster to say, I needed to find a picture of a fox hound. Now while fox hounds don’t necessarily look super scary in real life, the outline could be somewhat intimidating. I then decided he would look scarier with blood dripping from his mouth.
I then added the top and bottom border. The bottom is basically the same paw copied over and over. The top is just googled dripping blood. I thought that it gave the poster a scarier effect. I stuck with a red and black theme for a few reasons. Last semester in my Elementary Literature Class, I learned that red is a statement color, and that it very important in the picture world. I felt as though carrying that to this class would be a plus, and I plan to try and use that throughout the semester. To be honest, I would not want to go anywhere near that dog, and I think Blair’s point is taken away from this VERY accurately.
This makes me at 5.5 stars with 4.5 to go!
(Also with 3/5 towards Blair.)
Visual Assignment:
I chose this assignment because I saw so much potential for it. So, I figured I would make a warning for one of my favorite subjects…
So I present to you the final product…
So for this assignment I looked up zombie pictures on Google. I finally found this one. So then I worked a little magic in Paint, and Bippity-Boppity-Boo I had myself a zombie warning sign.
