This assignment was to create a Brady Bunch image using family or friends. Picked people for this one was a breeze because my family is already sort of a Brady Bunch. I have one child from a previous marriage, in the bottom right, my wife has three, all on the left, and we have one child together. We also have two cats, Shadow and Flame. (know the reference?)
Putting the photo together was fairly simple. I chose  photos of each of us, it was at this time that I realized I have almost no good photos and that maybe it is time to actually invest in an SLR camera. Cell phone tech, at least in my phone, just isn’t cutting it yet. After choosing the photos, I just had to crop, remove the background, and place them into the image. I used the natural angles of the photos to make them look as proper as possible in the boxes and chose a family arrangement that made sense like the original Brady Bunch. The font, although not as good as my apple original I used for something yesterday, was a pretty good Brady imitation. There are thousands upon thousands of fonts out there and searching for something like Brady Bunch font is sure to return some results.
So, what I took from this is that I need to spend time getting better photos that can stand as photos for their own sake rather than just poorly shot visual representations of memories.Since I learned about the basics of photography a visual design class, I have always wanted to get more into it, but I still have not done so. Canon Rebel, here I come… maybe.

So, this was fun to make. Meet mi familia. Friends that became family.

Here’s my version. 

The squares on the periphery are of all close friends with myself in the middle. From left to right descending from row to row their names are Mike, Sami, Elizabeth, Alieh, myself, Akeem, water, Mike (with Chad and Emerson), and my dog Buster. I would’ve included my immediate family, however they wouldn’t all fit in the squares. Unlike the Brady bunch kids, including myself we only have three brothers in the family and no sisters.

I used my iPhone to create the collage using a free app called Collage. It was really easy. I copied all of the pictures off of Facebook then loaded them into Collage. With minimal effort a collage was born. Mimicking the brady bunch collage this one is different in that I include more than just people.

I’ve never cropped two photos together. So I figured how hard can it be? It was fairly challenging.

I couldn’t really figure out how to change the opacity of the cyclist. That was the hardest part of this assignment. I poured over online articles and came to the conclusion that without an image editing program I couldn’t really control the opacity. So that was pretty frustrating. I tried playing with everything else that I could control and came up with the image seen above.

In the future if I had access to a more sophisticated photo editor, I’m fairly certain the finished product would be more realistic.

The Lazy Bunch

This assignment overall was fairly easy, the hardest part for me was trying to get my friends to actually do it! Hence the name, The Lazy Bunch. I took individual videos of each person and then used an app that makes pic stitches for videos and just inserted them where they were supposed to go. I then added audio to play the Brady Bunch theme song. Looking back on this, I wish that I made everyone go for the same amount of time because I was not able to figure out how to loop the video so some people stop before others and it’s not that long. Overall, I am happy with the turn out and had fun completing the assignment!

For this assignment I chose to create a collage of my family because 1) I already have a bunch of photos of them, and 2) they’re pretty cool

I chose to do the We’re the Real Life Brady Bunch assignment, not only because I created it, but because people mentioned in their posts about it that they found the assignment much more diffucult than they had originally anticipated. I had intended it to be not super easy, but not super difficult, so I wanted to try it out myself.

I used a website called befunky that made the task a lot simpler. I merely had to crop and style my photos and title how I wanted them until I got the perfect fit.

I named us “The Basketball Baes” because I wanted to stick with the B alliteration like in “The Brady Bunch,” but also because these are my best friends and we all play basketball together and we all call each other bae as a joke because we are together constantly.

This is what I guess you could say is “my” family if you consider the people related by blood who live in the same house with me. Now many of you may be wondering why I put my in quotation marks well because to me, family doesn’t mean you have to have the same blood or be biologically related. To me, family means someone who you really do care for. A friend could be considered family if you both genuinely care for each other.

To create this assignment, I had to stalk my family on Facebook so I could get pictures of them. Then I used PicMonkey to create and design the collage to my liking. It was pretty simple actually. Finally, I uploaded the image to Flickr. I decided to name us “The Tueros Familia” because first, our last name is Tueros, and second, familia means family in Spanish and since we are Hispanic, I thought eh why not?
