These are all the assignments I completed .
There were a bunch of memes online showing Obama holding the gun the wrong way. They also had pictures of him holding random objects. I thought it would be funny if he wasn’t holding anything at all. It would also be easier on me because I am a noob at photoshop.
This week we were to complete Gift assignments. I missed the class which gave lessons on how to create a gift. So naturally, I managed to figure it out. This is to the best of my ability, and as the semester proceeds I am sure that I will master my crafts.
The picture below was found on a google search: Old Gerber Advertisement. (According to DS106, Old Advertisement is worth 3 stars. So I will be completing all 20 stars worth of Old Advertisement.) As the week progresses, I will be adding more photos.
In order for me to do this assignment, I used pixlr, google, and good ol’ knowledge to get the job done. Enjoy the Gerber Face!
Because I am in love with stringed instruments, I cropped an old advertisement add: Cigarettes vs. Violin which is 3 stars added.
Because I just started to become aware of make-up and the pro’s and con’s to how it affects the skin when it comes to beauty, I definitely needed to find an old advertisement on Cover Girl’s own…. Ms. Banks.
After completing the cover girl picture, I definitely was not impressed by my work. It looks so blurry and unsatisfying.
When you think of old advertisements, you HAVE to think of Coca Cola, and the famous bottle!
I’ve become a girly girl, and I am definitely using this blog to share different sides of who I am, to those who are interested. Another material thing that speaks “MaiTai” is fragrance. I found an old advertisement of Chanel that was a MUST to post. This fragrance is very popular, and it speaks sophistication.
This photo below came from a very inspirational ad. It reminds me of where woman come from as far as being able to work, and become more then what society forced us to be.
All of these photos in this post were based on old advertisements and complete 15 stars. In total (so far), there are 18 stars that I have completed.
So since I have completed 18 stars, I wanted my last 2 stars to be different then the rest, but still reflects who I am. So I decided to do a Visual Assignment on “We’ve Found Your Match”. This visual assignment was 2 stars. So I used it to complete my 20 stars in this project. In this case, my best friend is my boyfriend: DJ QueSM (I’m trying to keep his real name discreet). I’ve decided to incorprate him in this assignment, and tried my best to find his celebrity look alike. Give me your thoughts! 
This actually took a really long time because I had to Erase the original background. While erasing all I could think was I wish Photoshop worked on my computer.After I took santa out of his original pic I though it would be funny if he was getting robbed. I used pixlr to do the whole thing. Even though I didn’t like that I had to erase the whole background it was a lot of fun making this pic.
This animated GIF is built using another graphic gift I made from a 1983 Montgomery Ward Catalog of the boy on a three wheeler. Once I cleaned up the PNG, I was trying to think of how I might race this three wheeler. But before I decided to run down Bambi, I first set out how to animate the wheels, as it would look silly if they stayed static. This GIF of a wheel was a good resource as it basically illustrated that some motion blur and a couple of different versions would likely do the trick.
I think the front wheel did alright, but the back wheel looks a little static. The funny thing was once I chose the clip from Bambi, I didn’t need to worry about the wheels anymore. They ended up getting covered by the snow.
I love the old animation techniques where there are clear background, character, and foreground. Typically the background and foregrounds are static paintings and only the character is animated. But in the case of the snow scene there are these beautiful painterly splashes of snow in the foreground animated.
Fortunately these splashes of snow were fairly easy to select with the magic wand. These became new foreground mattes over the three wheeler as it trucked across the frame.
These mashups end up taking a lot longer than I expect, but I’ve really enjoyed pushing myself to get better and better with animation. Hope you dig it.
