I managed to find this old advert for a vintage Cadillac in my Google image search. It’s actually a 1962 Cadillac 60 Special. My gosh these cars were huge. And at a cost of $6366 in 1962 this model designed to be the cheap line from Cadillac would cost you approximately $47,330.00 in our present time. But hey gas was much cheaper then. Anyhow enough of this product, if you want to read you can check it here. For this GIFT I actually watched Michael Smith’s tutorial on how to do so using Pixlr, which is a good online free image editor. I still like to play around with it but I think I’m starting to fall for the magic of Photoshop, as I continue to learn both. So anyhow what I did was to crop out the bottom half of the poster to use the pic of the car and discard the rest. I then used the curves as shown in the video which gave it a smoother rather than grainy look. I then used the polygonal lasso tool to outline as closely as possible around the the image and then inversely cut it away from the original background. I then used the box blur set at 1 which gave the car a restored look as well as fill in the background around the image black. This helped as it showed all the white areas around the car that I missed and needed to erase. So then I was able to zoom in till about 300% which allowed use of a small eraser tool, then a large one for around the the car. Finished product as follows.
