This assignment was worth 4 stars. The goal was to use Pinterest and create a board with your ideal room. Here is the link to the original assignment: http://assignments.ds106.us/assignments/create-your-own-room/.  I am an avid Pinterest user, so I had no problem completing this assignment. I created a board for my ideal kitchen. I pinned a few different pictures of light blue cabinets that I liked as well as a kitchen table, some storage containers and paint/color samples. This was one of my favorite assignments and I hope to do more using Pinterest.

Ideal Kitchen 

For this assignment, you had to create a fake status update for someone. This assignment was worth 3.5 stars. I picked George Washington, his twitter handle was, @biggwash.  I used the website Twister to make this fake account. It was very simple, you just had to type in the information you wanted and the website did all the work. I made his tweet about when he crossed the Delaware in 1776.  I probably laughed a little harder than I should have.

For this assignment I decided to create a search engine for students. I couldn’t figure out how to change the Bing logo, but I went ahead and changed all the other text on the website. This assignment wasn’t too hard so I give it 3.5 stars. If only a search engine like this actually existed! Perhaps that’s the next million dollar idea. X-ray Goggles is a really cool tool, I plan on using it pretty often to remix other sites!

I decided to do the Three Moon Wolf story for my last web assignment. I had to go to the comment sections of a product on Amazon or Ebay and write a story about the product. I found a t shirt on amazon that had a picture of a giant sloth climbing the Empire state building like King Kong. I immediately knew this would be a good one. I wrote a story about The sloths heroics and contributions to society that in no way helps the sale of this t shirt. When I was thinking of what I wanted to do I tried to be as sarcastic as possible and create a ridiculous story about a giant sloth, which wasn’t very hard. I tried to tied other famous animals like King Kong and Airbud to make the story seem real. As for creating the story, I basically just looked at the image and wrote the first thing that came to mind. I was surprised at how many people do this for fun. There was a lot of funny stories on the products on amazon. It’s almost become it’s own art form.

For my first web assignment I created a buzzfeed quiz to see what Parks and Recreation character you are. I always thought these quizzes were fun and Park and Rec is one of my favorite shows.  I tried to come up with random answers so people wouldn’t be able to answer them to get the character they want. I liked doing this show because the characters all have their own different and distinct personality. I didn’t get all of the characters, since there’s so many, but I got the main ones. Overall, I thought it was a fun assignment and finally got to make one of those quizzes I always take when i’m busy procrastinating.

My first assignment was worth 3.5 stars, but I am going to claim that I did 4 stars worth of work. I put quite a bit of time in this one!

My job was to create a Facebook and Twitter for a person who was not around for the social media craze. I chose Alexander Hamilton, because I am obsessed with the Hamilton soundtrack and feel like I personally know him.

First I created the Fakebook Page for Hamilton using the fakebook tool. Check it out!! I created these sites while listening to the soundtrack, so that’s where the inspiration came from. I searched for pictures of all of his friends on his page, added posts, and researched some background for his profile. I thought this page is pretty funny but actually informative.

Next, I created a fake Tweet for Hamilton. I used the twister tool. When Hamilton’s affair with Reynolds took place in 1791, he published a pamphlet explaining himself and clearing his name from improper speculation. However, if this incident had happened in 2016, perhaps he would have tweeted about it:

This activity was time consuming because of the research I had to do, but it was a lot of fun.
