Which Steadfast Sleuth are you?

BuzzFeed Personality Quiz (3 stars)

So perhaps I am a bit conceited in believing others would be interested in this for our agency. But I thought it would be interesting to create a personality quiz on BuzzFeed to see which Steadfast Sleuth people would be. Something fun for our agency to have, since our line of work is typically pretty depressing.

The actual process of making the quiz wasn’t too difficult. The steps were fairly self explanatory. You just followed BuzzFeed’s directions. The difficult part is coming up with the response answers and the questions. I chose to make 7 questions, some noir related and some not. I really enjoyed coming up with the different answers for myself and my colleagues, but it was challenging to write a description for all three of us. It was also challenging to find different pictures for each question to include. I hope that people are as interested in finding out which Steadfast Sleuth they are as I am.

I Like What I Like And Hate What I Hate

This whole internet thing is so very exciting. I decided to try the thing called, “pinterest”. Quite entertaining I must say!

What a great forum to show people what you like in the most.

Here is the link to said pinterest page: https://www.pinterest.com/yellowgold13/victoire-absinthe/

(note: I am to tell you that this was “super easy and actually more enjoyable than most of the assignments done so far because, well, the creator got to look at nice pictures and call it homework.” there. I’ve done my duty. I’m going to get a cocktail.)

Will Work For Lipstick

I have finally put my writing talents to work and have created a resume for you all to enjoy. I must say, the one page format was rather limiting, and unfortunately I could not include ALL of my banking experience. However, if you must, go look at it.

Also, as a word to the wise, I have relocated to New York City- it would appear that I now have a position at a small, family owned company. How quaint! It’s called, “Hit Me.”

My pretty resume can be found on the website. However, here are my credentials for now.

They have a website at: the1agency.wordpress.com

Isabelle McIntosh-Storify

I picked this 2 Star project in order to give the background of my character.  I thought it was an excellent way to develop her character.  I used Storify and I illustrated it with pictures I have posted on Flickr.   I tried to embed it but it wouldn’t work.  Here is my link.

Resume my Résumé

It’s hard to keep one’s secret a secret. Especially when creating a résumé (3 stars). I am an accountant by experience and actually have my CPA, but that’s not my true passion. My passion is to feel someone’s life in the palm of my hands and being able to take that away or choose not to. But when it comes to business, I must keep my accounting reputation and make myself look like the professional that I am. I attended high school where I grew up in Boston, Massachussetts. I spent 4 years at Monument High School and then after graduation I decided to move to New York and attend New York University where I began my accounting journey. After graduating college, I realized I liked New York so I decided to stay there and start my own accounting firm. It went great for about 7 years but then I met someone who has changed me in a way that I didn’t know was possible. I met Victoire and I just want to be around her so when she moved in with a few of her friends, I thought I would tag along so we didn’t have to separate. It turns out that these ladies and me really know how to run a business. That’s my source of income now…an agency called Hit Me. It’s a wonderful business, I’ll tell ya. I am able to showcase my skills and I can’t complain about that.

Hit Me Questionnaire

The agency is called Hit Me and for now that’s all you need to know.

This Web Assignment is called Pop Quiz (2 stars) but I put a little spin on it. Instead of making a “quiz,” I made a questionnaire that is for the clients of our agency. There are 7 questions and the answers of the questions will determine whether or not we will take that client in.

As per the assignment suggests, I used PollSnack to create this informative “survey.” Now there aren’t 3 separate outcomes but there are technically 2. They are just unknown to the taker until after the fact. The outcomes are either they are taken in as one of our clients or they are denied for reasons that will not be disclosed.

This questionnaire will help us narrow our clients down to a select few who will not turn on us in times of fear and who will hopefully come back and do business with us again.

I was not able to embed the questionnaire into this post so here is the link for it…

Feel free to take it yourself, but don’t be butthurt if you don’t get a text message….

Veronica Smith’s Resume

3 stars

Veronica Smith Resume

Veronica Smith, an intelligent, talented, successful lady for her time. I first began working when I 11 on my family farms. I worked there until I graduated high school and began working at the Hideaway lounge. During that time I did some small work with the United Service Organization with radio advertisements. I am now have a new job at the Stars and Stripe Bar in New York! I’m ready to make the move!

I based Veronica’s resume off of the jobs I had for her already. I added the family farm job and played around the years to make them accurate for someone born in 1920. The organization style I took out of my own resume. I went with this font to create a type writer feel since she is in 1942. This to me was also simple yet professional, and a proper length for a women of 22 years old. I elaborated in more detail what Veronica did at work. I also added some duties other than singing, like managing, to prepare her for the Agency. She is a smart girl and singing is only one of her many talents…

I uploaded the resume using Flickr, it was difficult trying to upload the Microsoft word file or any other image because of it pixelating.

My Resume

For my first assignment this week I made my resume for three stars. I used Microsoft word and I got to tell you it is damn hard to make a resume when you have been working for the same organization for over 30 years. The only experience I have is with the Atlanta police department and I have never had to apply to another job before. I actually do not even remember how to make a proper resume because I honestly thought I would never need to again. Is it okay to talk about your girlfriend in your resume? Eh whatever Blair is my sugar momma (as of now) so she deserves to be in it.

Below is a link to get to my resume but below that is an embedded link from flickr if the main link does not work. Let me know what you think!

Week 9: Web Assignments

Web Story Telling:

dominos

The web story telling has proven to be the most difficult part of this weeks assignment pool.  The initial link given for mozilla was not functional so I in turn attempted to download firefox and used the firebug application which was cautioned to make link codes disappear.  The kinks of this are very finicky.  I attempted to take the Domino’s interface and manipulate it into the fictional business my friend and I have jokingly developed.  This pizza place serves anything you can ever want, on a pizza, ‘no matter what is the guarantee!’. (We even have a jingle) I am still working on developing this.

Character Resume:

The character profile I created is below, in the form of a resume of a fictional character based off of the culmination of women from Bravo’s Real Housewives of Atlanta.  I feel these ladies have the most sass and their dialects and slang terms are so different from the language I am used to speaking. They make fascinating character studys’. Ms. Rubella is a recent divorce who is lookin’ to make an entrepreneurial debut with her settlement money, honey.  She is bold beautiful and has very little actual work experience but comes from a very artistic background and education.

Radio Show Evaluation:  I found these shows to be an excellent way for me to have stimulation while at my desk job. I enjoyed them alot.

“The radio show I listened to was “The Fifth Dimension Twilight Zone” created by Fairuz

http://ds106.us/2013/03/17/spring-is-for-radio-shows/

  • Quality of audio sound: The volume was consistent and moderately edited. The sound of both the spoken components and the integrated clips from other sources were clear, and free of noises not needed?  During one part in the show when one of the girls was speaking she had a sort of summer time cricket noise happening in the background which I wasn’t sure was on purpose but I liked it and thought it added a warm feeling to the audio.
  • Quality of audio editing – use of effects like the highly recognizable “Twilight Zone” jingle was great. Transitions were clear and quick, cognitively they could have possibly been a bit more streamline but that is the most criticism I could offer.
  • Use of sound effects- Like the appropriate usage of background noise or music was perfect and light-handed.  Not overdone or left anything to be desired.
  • Use of music- The use of music was complementary and not distracting at all.
  • Does the show have a structure? Is it cohesive or does it feel stitched together?
  • The whole show was done with a great amount of drama and a generous amount of allusions to pop culture. It told many stories in an effective but not overly forced way. These was a great flow; every segment was just long enough to draw the listener in but not too long as to bore them.
  • I would rate this radio show a 5/5
  • My favorite part was the reel of Will Ferrell Quotes from his many movies. As well as the satirical usage of ‘Twilight’ mellowdrama as a manipulation of the shows comedic and serious vibe.”

Daily Creates:

“Dream Staircase

An Eerie Equinox

Written by Caroline Cotto on March 20, 2015 4:57 pm

Though it may be the first day of spring
I don’t mind
Mother Earth holds off on the sunshine
For one last rainy fling
Because the weather will turn, all in good time
I don’t mind

Daily Creates are always good at poignantly challenging me either emotionally or creatively, both put me outside of my comfort zone which I believe is a fundamental part of growing as a person.

The first assignment I completed was the ‘Dream Staircase’, which was the most introspective posts I have made thus far.  The most difficult part was realizing my true dream which is not a specific event or a certain job role.  Since my upbringing and recent life has been a constant cycle of turmoil and relief I believe the one thing I dream of most is mental, financial, and physical stability, which could be found in any geographical location.  The steps that lead to completing this goal are pretty straight forward, once I realized what my ultimate dream was.

The second assignment was to write a poem about how we feel about rainy days.  In my opinion the most beautiful things in life come from a juxtaposition, contradiction, or ironic pairing which is either metaphorically or visually complementary.  Having a gray and rainy first day of spring is the epitome of this, therefor I used this opportunity to revel in it.  My words don’t always come to me, especially in an eloquent or poetic manner.  I felt by keeping it short and sweet I was able to get my point across pretty well.

I am looking forward to what next weeks daily creates will bring!”

4. Symphonic Savannian Acoustics: Video clip of street performers in Savannah Georgia singing “Lion Sleeps Tonight”.

Above are three of the four unused media I uploaded to the Phonar shared dropbox.  I try to title my pieces with a play on their true message.  My reasoning for taking these pictures or capturing these moments was because I observed them having a unique dynamic.  Whether that be a juxtaposition of an underwater like installation placed on the ceiling or the romantic backdrop of a season displayed behind a romantic gesture of ‘love locks’ in Cologne Germany.  All of these media sources were initially suppose to be integrated into the ‘Design Blitz’ assignment. They didn’t make it into my Flickr album because I found more suitable representations for the assignment. “
