Pack your bags, we’re taking a trip!

This assignment was really simple but I had a lot of fun doing it. For 3.5 stars, the assignment required me to create a Pinterest board and pin to it all things that reflected my dream vacation(s).

pin1

The pins on my vacation board range from Disney World to climbing Mount Kilimanjaro to road-tripping across the United States. I know it’s only a matter of time before I make these dreams into realities. Traveling has always been something I’ve been interested in and I do plan to actually take all the trips I’ve pinned to my Pinterest board.

Some of the specific posts on my Pinterest are:

Travel guides for Disney World which is at the top of my list of dream vacations.

pin3

A guide on how to travel across the United States without spending a lot of money.

pin4

And lastly, a list of parks in Canada that are great vacation spots. I included this one because my dream is to travel outside the country and I figured it’d be start in the country closest to home, our neighbor to the north, Canada.

Pinterest Dream VayKay

The assignment was to create a Pinterest board of your dream trip. I have always wanted to visit/live in Australia. So I made my Pinterest board about a trip around Australia. I figured I would probably travel around Australia when I live there for after grad (in an ideal world), so that would eliminate the main cost of getting over there and back, as well as vaccination needed. So I focused more on where I want to go and what I want to do. I also already had a Pinterest so all I had to do was create a board which I titled: DS106 Dream VayKay. This is what my board looks like:

Some of my pins were:

Top 25 things to do in Australia and New ZealandP1

From this post I really liked the Blue Mountains, the Great Ocean Road, the Sydney Opera House, dive the Great Barrier Reef, get up close and personal with animals, and cave of wonders. Most of the items on this list were also pinned on my board individually. Such as:

When I clicked on this picture I was directed to a website about the Wave Rock Festival held at this venue. The people who put on the Wave Rock Festival gave out personal and portable ashtrays in order to stop people from littering cigarette butts.

P6
Lake Hillier, pink colored lake located on Middle Island, one of the largest of the islands and islets that make up the Recherche Archipelago, Western Australia.

On top of all the cool places I found I also found a lot of fact sheets and travel tips. There were also tons of lists of where you should visit, what is only in Australia, etc.

Pinterest is a great source for cute ideas involving travel, fashion, cooking, basically anything and everything. However sometimes information gets misconstrued and you end up thinking an image is something when it’s just been falsely captioned so you have to check the webpage that is linked with the picture. With my Pinterest board I have my plans in tack for where I want to go, how I’m going to get there, and how to save money doing it. Here I come Australia… after I finish school and stuff.

I Think Dreamy Things as I’m Waving Goodbye;

I would love a vacation. Consequently, I’ve planned a life time of vacations on pinterest. This made this assignment quite easy.

So, my wanderlust board. I’ve been adding to this board for years. I would love to travel some day and explore the “hidden coves” of the world. So, naturally I planned it all out so I can dream and wish.

My board has 50 pins (and 80 followers!!!) of various beautiful locations around the world. A lot of the locations are in Europe/Asia. I already have a passport that’s valid, so I could just go, but I would need money to get there. I could backpack across Europe, then hop on a train to Asia I’m sure. I would need a translator for some countries (I speak German so I think I’d get by in Germany). Knowing me, maps would be needed prior to leaving the country; I would need to plan exactly where I was going and how to get there. Hotel’s would need to be booked, money would need to be exchanged, and I would definitely need to know the power outlet situation. But, I think it would be totally do-able. It would probably take a year or so to complete the entire trip, but it’s something to dream for!

My Digital Trip to Australia

For my first web assignment this week, I decided to complete Create Your Dream Vacation on Pinterest! Super fun and exciting since I’m already an active user/participant in the Pinterest world. With PInterest, you can create boards on your profile for common topics/themes such as food, crafts, vacations, etc. Then you search through the search bar the specific items you want to find, or you can browse through the general sections available as well. After you find a picture you like, you can click on it and follow it to the original link/website, or pin it to your board for later! It’s a genius idea for finding and saving recipes and outfit ideas. I was already familiar with the layout of the website, so all that was left became deciding where I wanted to go on my dream vacation. For years now, I have always wanted to travel to Australia! Pictures from this place are gorgeous, and the area is filled with rich culture and delicious food. It also strikes me as a place teeming with endless amounts of activities and tourist destinations. I would find it hard to believe that upon visiting Australia, one would be bored and find nothing to do. Below, I will embed a link to the board I created for my virtual trip to Australia and all of the essential information one would need.

My Dream Vacation

  1. Culture of the Aboriginals (family life, art, etc.)
  2. Destinations & Traveling Tips
    1. the Outback
    2. the best beaches
    3. pink-colored Lake Hillier
    4. the Great Ocean Road
    5. National Parks
  3. Popular restaurants & recipes
  4. Fun/Unique Facts
  5. General Tips/Info

I feel that by looking at the Pinterest board I created, most people would be able to come away with a general sense of what a vacation to Australia would be like. Unfortunately, my board does not take into account the logistics of the vacation (save for the pin on traveling to Australia on a budget). But, the pins I compiled showcase the beautiful scenery and culture available to someone considering a vacation down-under! This was an incredibly fun assignment for DS106, and it only makes me want to travel to Australia even more than before!

Dream Vacation on Pinterest: Dancing Greeks

Create Your Dream Vacation on Pinterest!  (3 stars).

This web assignment required me to create a Pinterest board. (I already have a Pinterest, its a few of my favorite pastimes). We were to add “pins” to a board that represent our dream vacation!

I chose my vacation to be to Greece. I have always wanted to go there, and I always see amazing pictures. The architecture, the views, and the water always blow me away. It is truly a historical and beautiful country!

So my board is called “Trip to Greece”

Screen Shot 2015-10-20 at 3.38.16 PM

I always have thought that Mykonos would be such a beautiful island. Before this assignment, I already had SO many pins relating to Mykonos. Then, I started pinning and one of the pins had plenty of gorgeous pictures that I would love to see in real life! This pin especially made me excited to visit Greece! Here was the website attached to the pin:

Also, besides visiting the beautiful island of Mykonos, I also want to explore other places! So I searched for some other places too. I pinned a pin with the title of “Top 10 Places to Visit in Greece

sdfsdfds

Another big vacation thing is FOOD! I don’t know much about Greek food, but I looked up different pins. I found the top foods I have to eat while in Greece! They all look yummy!

All in all, I really think I will visit Europe, because I love to travel, and have never visited Europe. And then, my number one place to go would be Greece! It is so beautiful and I am excited to see the culture there. I hope to go someday after college, and hopefully save enough money to make it there when I have time! Also, I would have to find transportation, especially if I want to visit the different islands in Greece. They speak Greek, so it might be hard to communicate.

I really liked this assignment! It was cool especially because Pinterest is a new blogging site and its one of my favorites. So this was a perfect assignment for me! Pinterest does have an aspect of storytelling, as I just told my story of a dream vacation. People will view my board and see what I plan to do and where I want to go!  Also, you can create so many boards with fashion, homes, food, and much more. It’s so awesome to go view other people’s boards so you can see what story they are trying to tell too.

I hope I get to go to Greece soon! Here is my Dream Vacation Board!

Around the United States in 80 Days???

For this web assignment from the assignment bank I had to create a Pinterest board displaying my dream vacation. For my dream vacation I will be driving, and flying, to all 50 states and visiting the capital building in each state. Therefore, on my Pinterest board I pinned pictures of all of the capital buildings for each state and the capital building in Washington, DC. I would love to take this trip in the future with my fiancé before our wedding, if we can afford it. My cousin and his wife did a similar trip to this but only did the eastern states in the US and said that they wished they could do all 50 states. I thought it was a great idea and they seemed to have a lot of fun so hopefully I will be able to do a trip like this one day.

My Dream Vacation- 3 stars

I have always wanted to go across the Atlantic to see Ireland, Scotland, England, and some other fascinating places.  I made a board on Pinterest to show all the places I find interesting.

The different kinds of landscapes are mesmerizing.

Vacation Of A Lifetime

Web Assignment:

Create Your Dream Vacation on Pinterest! 3?

I need a vacation. Planning and creating this agency website has taken a toll on me. I think Ireland would be a good place to go. I still have some family there. They may be pretty distant, but they are still family. I’ve been to Ireland before and I loved it. It’s the perfect getaway from big city life. Me and Brian love being able to travel back to the lands where our ancestors grew up. So while I was working oh so hard on the Tunes Squad’s website I just happened to make an awesome Pinterest Board of my favorite vacation.

For this assignment I made a Pinterest account for my character. I then looked at many different boards that showed off the pretty places to go in Ireland. I reblogged many different things about Ireland and then embedded the link to my board into this post.

My Dream Trip

For the Dream Vacation on Pinterest Web Assignment, I created a Pinterest board through Kayleigh’s Pinterest account detailing my dream vacation that I eventually would like to take to Japan. I first became interested in Japanese culture as I was learning the Japanese language during my time as a student at the University of London. Then when I moved out here to San Francisco, I learned much more about Japanese culture that I became interested in, the festivals, popular travel destinations, and the absurd amount of cats.

I have no particular order in which I would like to do things, but I definitely want to visit each of the places mentioned for a specific reason. Also, this could either be a trip I take alone or Sarah and Sasha could come too if they are interested. In Tokyo, I’d like to go to a cat cafe, go to hanami, also called cherry blossom viewing, and to go shopping for myself and for souvenirs for friends. In Kyoto, I would visit the Infinity Cafe and figure out which types of Japanese tea I prefer. The place I want to visit the most is Fukuoka Island, where semi-wild cats roam freely across the island and it would be so much fun to be surrounded by dozens of cats. There is also a similar island filled with rabbits called Okunoshima. To take a break from the more relaxing parts of the trip, I’m debating on visiting/investigating Aokigahara, the “suicide forest”, where multiple people enter each year and never return alive. If this venture proves to be too dangerous, I also plan to explore Hashima, an abandoned coal mining island off of the coast of Japan, which is a completely abandoned city which once held thousands of inhabitants. Finally, I would visit Kinokawa City to see Tama, the cat train station master and walk through the Wisteria Flower Tunnel at the Kawachi Fuji Garden in Kitakyushu, Japan. Of course, this vacation is still only a concept at best and will need much more thorough information before becoming a reality.
