Dream Vacation: Brazil

I decided to complete this assignment because I love to travel and I love Pinterest! This assignment is called “Create Your Dream Vacation On Pinterest!” and it’s worth 3 stars. The details of the assignment can be found here.

This was easy for me to do since I am so well-versed in Pinterest. I decided to make my dream vacation to Brazil because I’ve always heard that it’s beautiful. I think that this trip would definitely be possible for me one day. My husband, El Jota, also loves to travel and would love the nightlife that’s present in Brazil. And Brazil has everything that I love to: beaches, shopping hiking, native culture, etc.
A couple different things are required to make this become a reality. First off, is money, but that’s not really a problem for Jota and I…our last name is Dinero. Another thing necessary, however, is a passport and a visa. This isn’t a big obstacle either because I already have my passport and still have lots of time left on it. Some things that aren’t exactly required but are strongly recommended include vaccinations, knowledge of a different language, and Brazilian Real.
There are 3 recommended vaccinations. They are for Yellow Fever, Malaria, and Typhoid.
It would be very helpful to have a basic understanding of Portuguese, however, is not necessary since most of the people there have a basic understanding of English. Or it wouldn’t be very hard to find someone who did.
The Brazilian Real is their form of currency. This isn’t too complicated to get and is available at currency exchanges. It’s just a matter of getting it done.

A lot of things that I pinned have not only have amazing recommended places to go, but travel tips specifically to Brazil. This was so helpful!! I really hope that this Dream Vacation can one day become a reality.

I actually created two boards. One is specific to this Brazil trip and the other is a general travel board encompassing tips on flights, safety, packing, and how to plan.

Dream Vacation

For one of my assignments this week, I chose to do the assignment Create Your Dream Vacation on Pinterest, that was submitted by Haley Eckhardt.

The assignment is to,” Create A Pinterest Board Of Your Dream Vacation This is an assignment for dreamers! If you don’t already have a Pinterest account, create one! Next, take a moment and contemplate where you would want to go. A vacation does not necessarily mean you have to select one place to travel to. It can involve a variety of locations. Start off by creating a “board” for your dream vacation. All you have to do to create your board is click the “create a board” option on your main profile page. You could title it “My Dream Vacation,” like I did, or come up with something more personalized. You can select a category, such as “travel,” if you want, but neither a category, nor a description, are necessary to continue. Next, try plugging keywords into the search box on Pinterest for cities, countries, specific landmarks, attractions, etc. and “pin” your favorite images/travel blog links/recipes/etc. onto your new board! To pin, hover your mouse over the image and a red “Pin it” button will pop up in the top left corner. Go ahead and click on it. **The purpose of these pins is to give Pinterest subscribers access to a variety of recipes, photography, travel guides, blogs, literally EVERYTHING digital. Next, Pinterest will ask you which board you would like to pin it to. Make sure you select the board you created for this assignment. You can either keep the description the pin came with, or create your own! Completely up to you. And lastly, just click the red button again, and you will have successfully added your first pin! Congratulations! Keep searching and adding pins until you have developed a solid amount of things to do/see/eat on your dream vacation! Next, embed a link of your “Dream Vacation” Pinterest board in to a blog post and write out a brief summary of the trip you desire. It’s up to you what you want to write about, but some ideas would be:

– Talk about if you feel like this trip will be possible for you someday, why or why not?

– What is required for your dream vacation to come true? (Don’t just say money, do your research.)

– Do the place(s) you plan to go have a different native language? If it’s an exotic trip, are there legal requirements, such as shots, visas, etc.?

Really get to know your dream vacation– maybe it’ll happen someday!” This assignment is worth 3 points.

I have an obsession with Pinterest, I love Pinterest. I have over 10,000 pins. When I saw that there was an assignment having to do with Pinterest, I quickly got started. I also LOVE vacations, especially planning them. I am so glad that Haley E. submitted this assignment. It has been a dream of mine to go to Bora Bora, Tahiti. I absolutely LOVE tropical vacations. Bora Bora is exceptionally gorgeous. The water is perfect and everything is beautiful.

I hope that this trip is possible in the future because Bora Bora is truly unbelievable. Maybe my next big family vacation can be in Bora Bora since my parents would like to go somewhere tropical. Who knows!?! A lot of things would be required for this vacation to actually happen. First of all, I would need the money. I did find a couple of articles on Pinterest how to save money on your Bora Bora trip!

I would also need time off from school or my job. I would have to work a lot in order to save up enough days for this to happen. Saving money for this trip is a must. Awesome packing tips for this trip are also necessary! I found a few tips on Pinterest!

There is also lots to do in Bora Bora, so I would need to save for those excursions.

Week 9: Web Assignments

Web Story Telling:

dominos

The web story telling has proven to be the most difficult part of this weeks assignment pool.  The initial link given for mozilla was not functional so I in turn attempted to download firefox and used the firebug application which was cautioned to make link codes disappear.  The kinks of this are very finicky.  I attempted to take the Domino’s interface and manipulate it into the fictional business my friend and I have jokingly developed.  This pizza place serves anything you can ever want, on a pizza, ‘no matter what is the guarantee!’. (We even have a jingle) I am still working on developing this.

Character Resume:

The character profile I created is below, in the form of a resume of a fictional character based off of the culmination of women from Bravo’s Real Housewives of Atlanta.  I feel these ladies have the most sass and their dialects and slang terms are so different from the language I am used to speaking. They make fascinating character studys’. Ms. Rubella is a recent divorce who is lookin’ to make an entrepreneurial debut with her settlement money, honey.  She is bold beautiful and has very little actual work experience but comes from a very artistic background and education.

Pintrest Vacation Board:

It has been a long time dream of mine to live in Hawaii so naturally I had an easy time finding inspiration for my first trip there.  Everything from the hairstyle to the car I will be driving are in my board.

First things first, let’s make a plan

Well, Bev likes to make a plan. I don’t want to say that she’s a control freak but….. I’ve gotten to know her a bit recently and, well, she is.

To catch you up, Bev took me on a trip recently. I don’t know how she found me, or where she went after the trip, but we really tied up some loose ends following that strange Bev’s Buddies program

Bev insisted that we create an itinerary while we were on the plane, and she recommended we use Pinterest. As a visual aritist, I enjoyed learning about this medium and working with the different imagery as a visual representation of our trip. If I’ve learned anything, it’s that Bev’s not that bad a person, and with a little planning, a mysterious trip can be pretty fun.

Mariah and I had a lot of fun collaborating on this assignment as well. She really took the lead here, as I knew nothing about Pinterest. However, I helped with looking up ideas about what we could do in Bali and what content to feature on our board. Collaborative assignments are really great for that reason: everyone brings different ideas and skills to the table and you walk away with something you might not have been able to make on your own. I’ve really enjoyed the different assignments we’ve been able to incorporate into this story as well.

Bali Adventure with Damon

Bev here. After the radio show, Damon and I made up and talked things out. We decided to go on a trip in order to work things out. He just wanted to get up and leave right away, but I was like woah woah woah Damon, slow it down. So I was like First things first, we need a pinterest board (yah, sometimes I can be an annoying petty girl- back off before I stick secret service on you).

So we made this board. It’s AWESOMEEE. Screen Shot 2015-03-12 at 10.19.17 PM

It has all the things we are going to do:

– make some salsa
– stand in some foundations
– sit on the ocean without being in the ocean
– eat some actual food that is wonderful
– sit at random bars and meet people.

This assignment was really interesting. For our character it is a lot of fun and I’m sure she would be able to go on the trip. For me, it probably isn’t in my future.

When it comes to completing this Jonathan and I sat down and figured out where we wanted to go. We knew we wanted to develop our characters a little bit more and this was how I figured it would work best. I love Pinterest and he loves planning so it worked out perfectly. I took to Pinterest to start pinning all things bali. I usually don’t use Pinterest that often, so it’s always like a break from my hectic schedule when I get to use it. Additionally, it was really fun to watch Jonathan try and figure out Pinterest and click on random things. He just kept sitting around clicking random things and watching what would happen (I think he might have pinned some weird things to my other boards just to mess with me). Overall, I feel like this project was definitely a successful one if you are looking to expand on your character. I was three stars!

Create a Pinterest

This assignment is worth 3 stars. Originally it was create a vacation but, I am helping prepare for my cousins wedding so I figured why not kill two birds with one stone. I did work for this class and helped prep some ideas for my cousin.

A HUGE part of Brooke preparing for her time on the runway, she had to think of what outfits she wanted to show off, what hair styles she wanted the girls to have and how their makeup would be done. These were all the thoughts I had while I was creating the “Clothes over Bros” board on Pinterest.

I already had a Pinterest before completing this assignment, so I just added to my many boards, a new one of what preparations needed to be done and decisions needed to be made for Brooke’s big day. I went through many hairstyles and makeup ideas and decided which ones would look best and work best with the clothing that was going to be shown on the runway. I also added some outfit choices that would be shown off. Once I found the pictures I wanted to add to the board, I clicked on the “Pin it” button, and then chose the board I wanted it to go to, which was the Clothes over Bros board and clicked okay. It was as simple as that, and I am sure the board of Brooke’s ideas will continue to grow as her days come closer to the fashion show week she has always waited for.

I did the assignment “Create Your Dream Vacation” where you imagine your vacation and put it together on Pinterest.  Never having an account there before meant I had no experience at all with “pinning” things onto a virtual bulletin board. Beatrice’s Dream Vacation

Hiya! For part of the final project, I decided to make a Pinterest for Beatrice. One of the web assignments was to make a pinterest board for her dream vacation. Now Beatrice works very hard so I decided to pick something that was still in the states for her, and DisneyWorld is a great option. So from there I just found some good tips and trick on what to pack while flying down to Orlando. Luckily there is transportation provided to and from the Disney owned resorts, so I didn’t included a rental car. I picked Animal Kingdom Lodge for their hotel, partially because I’ve always wanted to stay there. Then I went through the 4 main parks in DisneyWorld; Magic Kingdom, Hollywood Studios, Animal Kingdom, and Epcot. These are personally my favorite parks and I pictured Beatrice and her family going during the winter so the water parks are closed during this time. Then I picked some tips and tricks on how to navigate each park. I really like planning a vacation using pinterest! It was fun to think like Beatrice and figure out where she might like to have travelled. And with her kids too. That was my main point was to plan something would be family friendly.  You can check the board out over here!
