Jimbo’s Perspective

Sitting alone at a nearby pub was Jimbo. Having just had one of the most exhausting days of his life trying to help out Buck with apprehending Crazy Joe Shooter; he needed to have a drink to calm himself down. Then he heard loud shouts and hollering talking about Buck’s heroics that they had heard about. They couldn’t believe that all this time, the unexpected gun was the son of the sheriff.

That’s when they spotted Jimbo, and immediately ran over to talk to them about what had transpired earlier that day. Jimbo couldn’t care less that they wanted to his side of the story, but he thought it would be a good idea to tell them the real story. Instead of the tall tale that they had heard of Buck Smith becoming a monster that went berserk and killed everyone in Train Man Inc. So he described what really happened when him and Buck Smith went to Train Man Inc. to apprehend Crazy Joe Shooter.

Jimbo described how he and Buck Smith snuck into Train Man Inc. without being noticed. Then peacefully confronted the CEO of Train Man Inc. who gladly told them of Crazy Joe’s whereabouts in a local greenhouse down the road. So Jimbo and Buck got on their horses and headed to the greenhouse. As they opened the door to the greenhouse, they saw Crazy Joe starting to run away and they shot at his leg to stop him from getting away. What they didn’t know was that the gases in the greenhouse were flammable. So as soon as Buck shot his gun, the whole greenhouse blew up with Crazy Joe still inside.

The whole crowd was shocked and couldn’t believe that this whole incident was an accident. They all thought that Jimbo was trying to mess with them; so they went on back to loud shouts and hollering “Buck Smith should be Sheriff, he killed all those man to grant justice to Crazy Joe Shooter.”

Little did they know, that Jimbo was actually telling the truth about him and Buck accidentally killing Crazy Joe in a greenhouse.

Writing Assignment – Your Character’s Past

Rose Oakley

Rose was an orphan. She never knew her family or their fate. She never cared to learn of them. She figured if they couldn’t be there for her then, they couldn’t be available to her any other part of her life. The orphanage was tough. It made her realize she couldn’t trust many people. She didn’t have very many friends.

The one friend she made was Maureen, a young western gal who owned her own Saloon. Maureen was a good influence upon Rose, working and helping her out at her Saloon was the only “honest” work Rose had ever completed. The first time Rose ever stole something was from another one of the orphans at their home. She stole her shoes purely for the reason that she wanted them. Rose mainly makesĀ a living off of traveling the rails and performing petty theft. She isĀ always looking for that next big opportunity, but so far it has never presented itself.

Due to her illegal activities she’s been pursued by marshals and sheriffs from each town she visits. She doesn’t quite know how to lay low, and is always doing something to get her into more trouble.

Currently she is traveling from town to town, looking for the gig that will grant her the big bucks.

Writing Assignment – Your Hopes, Dreams, And Fears

In 10 years, I’ll either be in a ditch or living the high life. Ain’t no way I’m letting the law get ahold of me. Either the years of running from the marshal’s will catch up or I’ll have made it big time.

I’m fearful of the law. I’m fearful that things won’t turn out for me. It’s hard being on the road, no specific place to call home. That’s where hitting it big time comes in. Hopefully by then I’ll have hit a big bank (or even a couple little ones) and I’ll be able to buy myself a new identity and a permanent home. Hopefully I won’t have to run no more. Here’s to the future.

Burger Night

Well now that the murder of Johnny in our town has been resolved and life has started to get back to normal, Tumbleweed Saloon has opened back up for business and I (Agnus) start working again tomorrow. Before I started back up I wanted to have dinner with my good friend Talie to catch up and see how she was doing, so we attended burger night at Tumbleweed Saloon. The saloon is known for their burgers. I had the tumbleweed burger, which has onions, pickles, lettuce, tomato, cheese, chipotle mayonnaise and an over medium egg. This is their home style burger and most popular and also happens to be my favorite. Talie ordered the BBQ burger which comes with fried onions, cheese, lettuce, pickles, and barbeque sauce. Both burgers come with a side of fries, which are to die for. Tumbleweed Saloon has some of the best burgers in town so I knew it wouldn’t disappoint.

For this assignment we had to describe our meal instead of posting a picture on instagram, which seems to be the fad today. We also needed to integrate our characters so I chose to describe Talie & Agnus’ dinner one night at the saloon. This assignment wasn’t too bad, just trying to find the right character and coming up with what to say was the tricky part. This writing assignment was worth 4.5 stars.

Attempted Murder Status Report

In this assignment, I had to create a status report to summarize findings for the public. This was a good assignment for my character of Buck because he is currently investigating the shooting that happened in the sound effects assignment where an Indian man known as Mr. Blackhawk was shot and someone rode off on their horse.Ā

To fully summarize the findings, I created a status report which I thought police create when investigating a crime where they state the evidence found and how the evidence was gathered. From

When creating the arrest warrant, I had to think about what evidence would be found and who would be the prime suspect. I tried to come up with the most western redneck name I could think of first, and then thought about evidence that would clearly point to the suspect. What I came up with was finding a ditched gun in the surrounding crime area that had the suspect’s name on the gun. Then to make it more of an open and shut case about who shot Mr. Blackhawk, I added witnesses to the crime that were heard in the sound effects story screaming.

After stating in the report what evidence was going to be present and describing how Buck gathered the evidence; I wanted to state the theory that Buck had, at how things actually went when the crime was committed.Ā

The assignment was easy and fun to be able to create, and it made me feel like I was adding to the storyline Ā involving Buck Smith going after Crazy Joe Shooter because he committed the crime of attempted murder against Mr. Blackhawk. Hopefully in a future assignments I will be able to finish the storyline of the Unexpected.

The Wild Seven Haiku

Going off my previous post, here’s a haiku to build on The Wild Seven a tiny bit, from the point of view of Crawlston

The Wild Seven

The Seven Character Story Treatment assignment seemed perfect for using the class’s various characters. Classic teamup movies where wildly different characters must form a cohesive whole is also such a common trope, so this just seemed too perfect to pass up.

The job was impossible, steal the entire wealth of the Quinada gang from right under their noses. The same Quinada gang that had just wiped out an entire U.S. infantry base for that same wealth barely two months ago. Who had brought them together, none were certain, but each had gotten a letter telling them just what they needed to hear to get them on the job.

Kyle Masala, an ex soldier in the army who knew many of the men the Quinada gang killed who wants to see their spirits put to rest.

Jacali, the Apache tribe who can guide the groupĀ to the Quinada gang’s holdout to briefly get away from her husband and because the mysterious benefactor promised protection from U.S. encroachment for her tribe.

“The Unexpected Gun”, the son of a sheriff who secretly helps his father take down criminals, despite nobody knowing he’s the fastest gun in the west, the letter was explicitly addressed to him to heed the call and reclaim the gold.

Merrel Shale, the gambler who could stay calm in any situation. This endeavour was sold to him as the biggest gamble of his life, enough gold to set him for life, and all he had to do was get the group in.

Andy Slupek, the bank robber. Despite eluding the bounty hunters seeking the fortune put on his head, the same letter that found everyone else found him as well. The greatest heist in history, making even the sum on his head seem paltry in comparison.

Agnus, a bar tender out to save her bar from debt, when she overheard the group talking about their big plan, she gave them a simple ultimatum, cut her in on the deal, or the gossip wheel would start churning.

Richard Crawlston, a gaunt old undertaker who arrived with no letter, but a derringer and a carriage big enough for the seven of them.

Together, they form the Wild Seven, to clash with the Quinada gang is their destiny.

Mrs. Dean’s Childhood

I chose to completeĀ the assignmentĀ on my character’s childhood.

I decided to do this assignment after I found, ironically, another Kelsey’s, from our class, character. Her character is a horse. It instantly made me think of pets and how influential pets can be on a child’s life. In result, I decided to make her character,Tripp, my character’s pet. I loved the creativity in making her character an animal. It is very unqiue compared to eveyone else’s in the class and I wanted to acknowlege that.

For some reason I could not get it so embed so here it is!!

When my character, Mrs. Dean, was young she was a tomboy. She loved to get her hands dirty and she loved to play outside with her brothers. Her mom owned a ranch so she was passionate about animals and she always dreamed of having a horse to call her very own.

When she was about nine, she was playing out in the woods and she heard noises from across the way. She made her way to a wooden fence… and there she was… a beautiful thoroughbred Morgan horse (Mrs. Dean really knew her horses). An old man in a cowboy hat was brushing her mane as she drank water from a galloon tub. She looked majestic in a way Mrs. Dean had never seen, but she also looked sad and lonely. Little did she know the horse was sad because she was separated from her family when she was born. Mrs. Dean fearlessly ran up to the man and asked about the horse. The man allowed her to pet it and said that her name was Tripp because she was awfully clumsy. That made Mrs. Dean giggle. She said, ā€œI’ve always wanted a horse of my own.ā€

The old man said, ā€œhow about I make you a deal? If you come clean and feed her when you have time, I’ll let her be your pet and you can come see her whenever you want.ā€ She was thrilled.

Everyday she came and washed and fed Tripp just as she was told, she even got to sattle her up and ride her sometimes. Over the course of the years, they became friends, best friends, and even family. They had a special bound and Mrs. Dean loved her very much. Tripp was there for the good times and bad and Mrs. Dean would run to see her every time she was going through something. It was her place of refuge.

Though when Mrs. Dean grew older and had a family of her own she had to move away from Tripp, she still cherishes her as an irreplaceable memory and tells their stories to her children, to encourage them to make a friendship of a lifetime too. She says there’s nothing else that can compare to it.

Dear Tate,

If you have opened this, that means we have been married for twenty-five days today, and that we are celebrating our anniversary by renewing our vows. I want to start off by saying thank you. Thank you for loving and caring for me until now and for being my best friend.

When I first immigrated to the United States, I found it difficult to make friends, and to get myself out there. But you, you were my first friend. You pushed me to my limits and always encouraged me to follow my dreams. We even had the opportunity to open our own saloon. Together, we purchased a home, and settled down.

Tate, I don’t know where I would be without you. Again, I want to thank you for everything including your laughter and personality. You make me happy everyday and will continue to do so until the end of time. I love you, Tate. Happy Anniversary.

Love,

Riza

I created this assignment because I incorporated Riza, my Western character, and her husband, Tate. In this letter to her husband, she is expressing her love for him on their anniversary.

NOTE: This counts for 4 and 1/2 stars towards the 10. Find the original assignment here.

Dear Tallie

I chose to complete theĀ Dear Mom assignmentĀ after I read about Natalie’s character, from our DS106 class. Her character, Tallie, was tough and hardworking. It reminded me a lot about my character. This gave me the idea to writeĀ a mom letterĀ to her character as if she was my characters mom who taught my character, Mrs. Dean, all these qualities that they have in common.
