Use an image editing software to create a logo for your webpage. The logo should have some type of text involving the name of your website. Try to remember how things like rhythm, color, and texture, can be used effectively when you create the logo. Add the logo to your webpage. If your Web site’s theme allows it, you can add the logo to the page under “customize” in the Themes tab.
You have to create a poster that describes a popular song while also using an image of yourself, without telling us what the song is.
It’s kind of a mix between the minimalist assignment and the 4 images one movie assignment using the Noun Project, except you have to put yourself in it.
Recently on Pinterest I discovered some images of designs people made out of barcodes. Turn a simple. boring barcode into something interesting by using an image of a barcode and forming a different object or design. For examples, look here.
Create an infographic that visually explores a movie (or a series of movies). Click and zoom in on the featured infographic to the left that explores the Mad Max trilogy. In this example the infographic looks at all the key aspects of these three movies, including their respective box office success, kill count, the price of fuel in the UK, US and Australia at the time of the films’ release, the weaponry used and the iconic vehicles that made the films stand out so much. This brilliant example intrigued me, and I couldn’t resist turning it into a ds106 design assignment.
The heck with Milk. Got DS106? Design a new poster based on the Got Milk? ad campaign. Create your own from scratch or riff on one already out there. For your fun and further enjoyment download a version of the original Phoenix American font used in the campaign.
Since 1985, the American Library Association (ALA) has tried to sell reading books as cool by showing celebrities reading their favorite books. You can read about the history of this promotional campaign here. Experiment with this tradition, introduce a celebrity with a book who hasn’t been recognized yet, but should be. Or use the poster you create to poke fun at a public figure, or do something else all together. have fun.
Creating invitations for different events says a lot about what is going to happen. Make an invitation for either any event, whether it occur or not. Pick an event from a movie even! What does the invitation say about the event? Get creative

Movies are often based on books. Not this time. Design a book cover that is based on a movie. DO NOT use an image of the actor/s. Try to find or create imagery that captures the essence of the movie without using the actor’s picture.
For this design assignment, you will first need to pick one of your favorite persons from a tv show or movie–make sure it is someone with LOTS of character that displays their characteristics frequently. This is important; it should be something that defines them (i.e. Sterling Archer, from Archer). Next, create either a book cover, or a smartphone app icon, or the like. Add some text that says “How To [insert the name of the character you choose here]”. Make sure you tell who this app/book teaches the user/reader to be like. (NOTE: it doesn’t HAVE to be an app or a book. Get creative with it. What else can you come up with?)
