Radio bumper

So the assignment was to make a quick radio bumper for ds106 radio. I didn’t have too much trouble recording the audio in audacity and had a bit of fun editing the vocals in FL studio. I changed the pitch a bit and equalized the sound in an attempt to make my voice sound more “radio friendly”. I then used a sample I found on freesound.org and used FL studio to layer the vocals over the sample. I used a volume automation clip to dampen the sounds from the sample while the vocals are playing.

Call me a radio host..

One of our assignments this week was to create a radio bumper forĀ DS106 Radio. Ā After tweeting along with the audio films the other nights, I was playing with a few ideas about how to develop this bumper. Ā Long story short, after listening to all the excellent posts from other students, I tried to think a little outside the box. Ā I used mine with an older-style hip hop type beat and different, funky lingo to make it fun. Ā Hope y’all enjoy!

My Epic DS106 Bumperā€¦.

This is my DS106 Bumper for Noir 106. It is about 18 seconds long. I use my best raspy voice with jazz playing in the background. Short and Sweet. This was one of my favorite assignment for this class so far.

Bumper Stars

Here is the radio bumper that I made for ds106 radio! For the background song I chose “Retrograde” by James Blake because it has kind of a haunting, eerie feel to it that I feel like fits well with noir. Then of course I have voice-over done by myself. Let me know what you guys think!

This Bumper is Bumpinā€™!

Granted, I have probably heard thousands of radio bumpers in my lifetime from many different radio stations, I was oblivious to their official name, as well as, the process involved with making one. When tasked with creating a bumper for DS106 radio, the prompt states: Now that we have a #ds106 radio up and running … Continue reading This Bumper is Bumpin’!

DS106 Radio Bumper

This is my first radio bumper for DS106 Radio, so of course I tried to make it as cheesy as possible. I recorded my voice three times, played around with the pitch and then followed it all up my laying down the background music.

Easy little assignment, but this was quite enjoyable as well as the other audio projects.

Music Used:

Bumper To Bumper Radio

This Audio Assignment is titled “Create A DS106 Radio Bumper” where everyone in the ds106 class this semester was required to create a radio bumper for ds106 radio. I never knew that this had a definitive name, I just thought the bumper would be called a radio station advertisement. I’ve heard them many times before on music stations and news stations, but didn’t realize the planning that went into basically creating a tagline for a radio station. I decided to make the bumper have brass instruments in the background as a voice introduced the radio station as the louder audio. The instrumental audio starts and ends the bumper on louder notes to catch a listeners’ attention, while the instruments soften around the voice audio so listeners can hear the message of the bumper. I recorded my voice in Audacity for the radio bumper as one audio file and cut it into two so each section would have more emphasis and feel more suspenseful with music in between and surrounding each voice clip. I deepened the pitch and slowed down the speed of the instrumental clip to heighten the feeling of Ā suspense of the bumper. I felt that this radio station’s focus on mystery and noir audio shows would be best conveyed in a serious and intense bumper, rather than an over the top and boisterous bumper. I edited my voice clip and an audio clip from freesoundĀ Ā in Audacity, uploaded the MP3 file to soundcloud and embedded it below. This was a very creative assignment and I can’t wait to see what direction other people took their radio bumpers in.
