Piano Lessons

This radio commercial came out of an assignment that requested the creation of a commercial advertising a product we would like others to know about. In order to work this into my group’s radio show, I made a commercial for my character, Danny Keys, whose only real goods and services is his piano-playing. So, I figured who doesn’t like a good piano lesson?

I may have cheated with the audio a bit on this project. Instead of compiling audio from Freesound, I went ahead and used an audio clip from Purple Planet, which has royalty free music available for free download and usage with the appropriate credit. The background music in this commercial is their “Piano Bar” composition, which was too perfect to pass up for this assignment. I would love to be able to make this kind of musical mix at some point, but for now I thought it would just be more productive to use the resources available to me. The composition was layered with the spoken piece in Audacity.

The Lassoing Lady Commercial

I chose to create a radio commercial in honor of my character, Mrs. Dean, who is a hardworking homesteader’s wife. She not only works out in the fields with her husband, but she cooks, cleans, and knits and washes clothing in the home, because being a homesteader is an extremely self sufficient job. I created a Western Boutique as a place to treat herself. She always works so hard to support her family and she deserves to be paid back for that sometimes. Hopefully her family will hear this ad and want to splurge on her.

For my boutique, I thought of a name for my store and then I wrote out a script. I chose to play an instrumental version of Taylor Swift’s popular song “You Belong With Me.” I wanted to play this song in the background, because it is very western sounding with a little girly edge. It would really help promote my cute little boutique.

Beer & Burger Mondays!

For this assignment, we had to create a commercial for a business or product. I decided to create one for the saloon that is in our radio show and promote burger night on Monday’s! In order to complete the assignment, I used Audacity and youtube. I downloaded the background music from youtube and then imported that to Audacity. I then recorded what I was going to say, that was the hardest part! Just trying to come up with what I wanted to say. After all that, I uploaded the file to Soundcloud! This assignment was worth 4 stars towards our 10 total for this week. Keep a look out for this in our radio show coming soon!

SCRUB-A-DUB-BUB

For this assignment I had my character Sally voice a commercial for a cleaning product she uses. It was once her clean, pristine saloon’s well kept cleaning secret that is now out for sale at her saloon, Tumbleweed. Made with her secret cleaning ingredients, Sally claims that it cleans anything and everything! Listen below to hear more about Scrub-a-dub-bub! I chose this assignment one because we need a commercial for our radio show and two I thought a cleaner for a saloon owner would be the perfect product to sell. The audio you hear in the background is from freesound.org

This assignment is worth 3.5 stars.

Make Your Own Radio Commercial!

When you are driving in the car and a radio commercial comes on you might start to tune the radio out. But, if you were the person selling what the commercial was offering would you want people tuning it out or listening intently? Well, I would want people paying attention to my commercial! So, for this audio assignment pick a product or business you would like to promote and sell! Use a audio recording software such as soundcloud to record your commercial. Add in background music, edits, and provide full information of the business/product/services you are advertising. Try to create a radio commercial that grabs and maintains the audiences’ attention. On the side, write why you chose the object or business you are promoting and the process you used to create your commercial.
