Instruction:”Some professionals believe the language we use on social networking sights is different from everyday language. They say this because of the words like g2g, ttul that we use on a consistent basis over text messaging, aim, and Facebook messenger. Write a short paper on this topic. Be sure to include some of the saying we use, which one’s you understand and don’t understand, and most of all discuss if social networking language is in fact different from our every day language.“

At first instruction says, “g2g” but I don’t understand what g2g means, so I checked on the internet.
and I found out this page.
You can know a lot of internet slang words in there.(and eventually I understood g2g means gotta go.)

Actually I use internet slang a lot.for example I know,
tmrw=tomorrow.
w/= with.
2=to.
4=for
u=you
r=are.
lol=Laughing Out Loud.
BTW= by the way.
asap= as soon as possible.
cuz=because like that.
(by the way, when I saw lol first time, I thought two ‘l’s are hands and ‘o’ is head and I misunderstood that lol means hands up).

Those are very comfortable because some of SNS have a word limit like twitter. In twitter, you can type only 140 words, so if you write long sentences, you need slang in order to make it shorter than usual. Also, I use those slang when I take a note. when I have to take a memo from lecture and professor dose not write anything on the blackboard, I use slang because I can not write everything as fast as professor’s speech. So, we can make good use of slang in your own life. And I don’t think this is not different from the language which is used in our real life. 2=to 4=for u=you r=are, are based on pronunciation. When we look at the word form, that’s totally different, but as long as those are based on primary word’s form or pronunciation, we can not say those are different.

However, It has a big problem. Spelling. I make a tons of misspelling, look at my previous sentences, probably you can find so many mistakes out from my articles. slang is not the only reason why I (people) make a misspelling, but it could be one reason and that might be a big problem for the future. SNS are really popular now, and children use SNS and they use slang. Children will have a misspelling more than people who do not use internet slang.

Reason why I made this picture is I think this shows one of the future of the internet. Now, you can download pictures, books, music, movies and so on. you don’t have to go book store, CD shop, movie theater. You can get every information on your computer, you don’t even have to go outside. Your life will be comfortable more than now. However, sometimes its illegal. And if everyone will download everything (illegally), publisher could not get money and they will go out of business and culture die off.

Therefore, when I made this picture, I thought the future of the internet and I would like you guys to think about it.

I Can Read Movies

I did the ds106 assignment “I can read movies” where you create cover art for a book adaptation for a film you like. One of my favorite movies is the 1995 Japanese animation film “Ghost in the Shell“. It deals with cybernetics, existentialism and some badass robot fights. I think it would make a pretty good novel. As a matter of fact, the film was based on a Japanese comic book.

To make the cover art, I took a photo of a mannequin and, using Gimp, painted it’s shadows dark green. Then I painted the rest a lighter green to make a kind of contrast. This also evokes a kind of early computer screen. I added the Kanji text by copy/pasting it from wikipedia into the text box in Gimp. I wasn’t sure how to add a worn out, sort of used effect like in some of the other “I can read movies” coverart assignments.

I decided this category because this is new to me.I chose this assignment, Fan Fiction Picture, which requires to “Take the name or title of your favorite band, song, movie, or tv show and display it in the form of photography. You can take as many pictures as you want, but have your photos capture the band, song, movie, or tv show you pick. Be creative and have fun!”

I used the picture from google, and I attached it. I copied the code of the YouTube and I attached it on this page, then the movie is appeared. Before I do this assignment, I do not know how to attach the YouTube on this page, but I remembered what we did on flicker section. We copied the code of picture and paste on the HTML. As a result, the photographic appeared. I used the way for doing this assignment.

The story is that I like the movie. I think most of the people can learn something from this movie. When I watched the movie, I though this is for “Rich” people, but a short time later, I thought we all know this situation would have to happen someday. We just feel unrealistic. After I watched, I must enjoy my life because life is one-time-only, and I do not want to have regret for my life. I strongly recommend this movie to think about LIFE.

This is first assignment for me, and I was intrested in the assignment because the assignment requires to combine the two assignments which other students posted. And I chose the above pictures because I though the picture each will be match perfectly.

For my third ds106 assignment I decided to do the web assignment section called “Google Maps Story” I decided to do this assignment to introduce korea more and also talk about korean army as well.

This is the area where i served about 50% of my military service in. I was in the DMZ called GOP (General Outpost). There isn’t many people you get to see here and the place is very quiet. We are far away from the city and the only building is the building we live in which consist of about 35 people. In the Korean Army you dont’ get many vacations but the ones you do are golden and are very memorable.

This is my home. If people have ever been to seoul they will know about gangnam. I live around 20-30 minutes away from there. I’ve lived here for about 7 years and have many memories of the place.

Well when i was out i decided to go to the beach. We drove here at midnight and we ate shellfish and clams with a little bit of alchohol and afterwards i went into the ocean because of the alcohol..

Still these memories will stay with me forever. I hope these pictures interested you and if you have any questions about korea come and ask me!

For my second assignment I chose to do a design assignment called “Word” and directions for this assignment was to not using any colors try to represent the meaning of the word through manipulating the word itself.

I chose upside down because I first thought about making the word look upside down but decided that it wasn’t creative enough so i decided to have each word turn toward becoming upside down.

I opened up photoshop and first time each letter to spell Upsidedown. Then putting them in a row I rotated using ctrl+t on each letter to make it seem like the word is slowing rotating 180 degrees.

I think the picture explains the word well and this assignment was a blast and learn some new skills for photoshop

Section 3 – First DS 106 Assignment

For my first assignment for this section I decided to do Time Lapse Composite which is in the Visual Assignments section. The point of this assignment is to make a photo of a place and a thing that demonstrates motion and time. The example given for this assignment looked like this…

This photo shows a picture of airplanes departing in the runway. When looking at the picture i thought of many ideas but soccer came to mind the most so i decided to do soccer.

The shooter is Steven Gerrard, a midfielder for Liverpool. It shows him shooting and I edited to make it so that the ball going in all directions.

Directions – I first found a picture of Gerrard shooting the ball from a distance and then also found a picture of a ball. I opened up adobe Photoshop and edited the balls size so that the ball fits the picture. Pressing ctrl+t allows the program to edit and then repeating the process of copy pasting and moving the picture to appropriate places.

It’s about time you thought about the big question: What do you want to be when you grow up? Design a postcard from where and what you will be 10 years from now and write a message to your current self.

This was a bit tricky–I used the same background, covered it, added a script layer, and then pasted on a piece of a painting I did a long time ago. I’ll let you guess about the “mood” and the “meaning” and all of that for yourself though
