Un Chiste

So in my attempt to make you laugh I told a joke in Spanish. I have an awful Spanish accent, so to anyone who listens to it and is a native Spanish speaker I apologize and please forgive me. I recorded myself telling the joke using audacity.  I chose a Spanish joke because Spanish is really the only other language other than English that I am familiar with.

Storytime

For the Suess it assignment I recorded myself reading One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish by Dr. Seuss. Like most Dr. Seuss books I loved the rhyming and flow of One Fish Two Fish the best. Like most people I do not like the sound of my own voice, and it is not helped that I have a cold and sound all congested and pathetic, but I wanted to push myself in a direction that I have avoided these past two weeks which was recording myself speaking.

Audio Assignment 5

My last audio assignment was worth 3 stars, bringing my weekly total to 12 stars! woohoo!

I used these sounds: door opening, creaking steps, heavy breathing, gunshot, and a scream. I got all of these sounds off of freesound.org. I watch so many scary crime shows (like NCIS, Criminal Minds, Law and Order) so I always have scary dreams.

Here’s the audio:

I actually have had nightmares very similar to this, the ones where you wake up and your heart is about to beat out of your chest. It’s pretty bad that I watch the shows before bed too, so that doesn’t help me all that much. I edited the sounds together in audacity and then exported it as an mp3. I also deleted the door closing part of the file from freesound instead of using it. I love how easy audacity is becoming!

Audio Assignment 4

This here assignment was worth 2 stars : weekly total at 9 stars.

I just wanted it to sound natural, so I recorded it on the spot, to help with the gathering of thoughts that often happens right at the drive thru. Everything is funnier when you start talking more southern, so I had a hard time being serious. I recorded this on my built in microphone on my laptop and then uploaded it to soundcloud. I had fun coming up with different requests and crazy things to ask, like how fresh is your frozen beef?.

Audio Assignment #3

I love poetry, so I loved this assignment. It’s only worth 1 star, which maybe should be worth more, but oh well.

I read Daddy by Sylvia Plath. 1. I love Sylvia because she’s brilliant and we have the same birthday (oct 27). 2. My dad is not involved in my life and this poem aptly sums up my feelings.

I recorded myself with my built in microphone in my laptop. I then uploaded it to soundcloud (it might have taken a few tries at recording with rhythm). The poem can be found here.

I love audio assignments and this one was probably my favorite. I also read poetry for the roadtrip radio show. I love the rhythm that comes with reading poetry. The words take on their own meaning and spoken word is SO powerful. To recite this poem was liberating because people always ask about my dad, but I never really tell the truth. This poem is my way of declaring I’m done. So thanks ds106.

Audio Assignment 2

This assignment was relatively easy for me to do. I used this as a guide and it made the assignment a lot smoother, so thanks  Chanda!

Here is my finished product:

I imported the track into Audacity, because sadly, I own the track (hahah, but I love Andy Samberg and the gang). I then tried to change the pitch and tempo myself. That failed. I did as Chanda suggested and changed only the pitch to 110…GOLD! I played it and it sounded definitely chipmunk-ified.

How did I pick my track? Well, I knew I wanted to do a Lonely Island song, because I am a huge SNL fan, and what’s funnier than a little dirty humor in a chipmunk voice. I was going to do the one, I Just Had Sex, featuring Akon, which is a hilarious music video, see here:

But I thought I needed to make it more appropriate, so I chose the Creep, featuring none other than Ms. Nicki Minaj!

Here’s the Creep music video:

I love the lonely island because they are so talented and so good at writing songs that challenge the way we think about song lyrics and toeing the line of appropriateness. SNL gave them a great platform and they are just so daggone creative, that I’m jealous!

This assignment was worth 3 stars: 6 stars for the week so far.

Audio Assignment 1

This assignment was a lot of fun! I read from Mr. Brown Can Moo, Can You? I was lucky enough as a child to have a mother who loved to read to us in different voices and emphasize sounds and such.

Here’s the reading:

It was worth 3 stars and really pretty easy to do. I recorded myself on my built in computer microphone. The only problem is that it spits out the audio in a really weird format. I found something online that allowed me to change the format to a mp3 super fast, and it worked! I then uploaded it to soundcloud.

I chose this book because it is so different and so exciting to read. If anyone else was going to do this assignment, I would recommend picking a book that is pretty diverse and allows for creativity. My voice is not the most pleasant sound to me, but I was having a lot of fun making the noises and prompts that it wanted me to do. Yes, it also probably gets obnoxious, but oh well! I love it!

Super Bass?

Not anymore. Using Audacity I changed the pitch on Nicki Minaj’s Super Bass to get the chipmunk sound. I chose Super Bass because I think Nicki Minaj is ridiculous  and thought it was funny how even more ridiculous she sounds chipmunk’d.

3 stars

Morphing the Voice

I said a knock knock joke in Audacity and then changed the speed to make it slower and I echoed the end. I found the knock knock joke on Google. The joke is  Knock Knock! Who’s there? Honey Bee. Honey Bee who? Honey Bee a dear and get me a soda.

The Berenstain Bears To the Rescue

As a child I loved The Berenstain Bears so I decided to read a book called The Berenstein Bears to the Rescue. I found the book on google and I hope you enjoy it!!
