5 sound story

I used free sounds to get my five sounds and then used audacity to put the sounds together in a form of a story. The story is a person drinking water and then leaving his porch to go on a run in the forest. At the end of his run he is breathing heavily and then walking back.

My Own Ring Tone!

Sticking to my harry potter mood from my soundtrack assignment! Using Audacity, I extracted a ring tone from the waves of several songs and created what I believe to be an interesting ring tone that is not obviously from Harry Potter, with strong waves and interesting repeat! Test it out then Use it!

Enjoying a cooked meal

This 3 star assignment was to conduct a story with five sound effects. This assignment was easy for me as I have done it before creating a story of a day at the beach. This time however, I chose to create one of my favorite activities: cooking and enjoying my meal afterwards! I downloaded sounds from Free Sound and opened them into audacity, I think put the sounds together to create my story. First I cut up some vegetables, after which I turn on my stove to boil water and add my spaghetti and vegetables that I cut up. I then, Take out a plate for myself, and sit to enjoy the lovely meal I just made for myself :) .

Good Times, Bad Times Song Story

This assignment prompted you to tell a story with a song that reminds you of it. I went through my itunes play list and came across this classic song by Led Zepplin Good times, Bad times, and I immediately began to reflect on time spent with a cousin of mine who introduced me to Led Zepplin. I used Audacity to record the story and change the volume on the song and my recording. I am not going to give much more about the particular story you have to listen. Enjoy!

Movie as Radio

I loved this assignment. My favorite movie soundtracks of all time are the Harry Potter movies. So I went about formulating how I was going to bring the magic of harry potter in to an under 10 min track. First, I choose to do the most recent Harry Potter movie (Deathly Hallows pt.2) and I took the soundtrack that I already owned and started picking pieces and parts that I felt were paramount to its success. eventually, I picked the songs I wanted and began to break them down using audacity, editing, cropping, fading, and intertwining to make for a seamless audio track.

I hope you enjoy the music as much as I did creating it.

EARTHQUAKE remixxxx

I used the program Audacity to change the speed of the song. I used the song EARTHQUAKE by Labrinth ft. Tinie Tempah. I didn’t have much trouble figuring out how to change the speed because I am used to using Audacity now. When I was done changing the sound it made me laugh because the song sounds funny. It was fun to change the sound of the artist’s voice to chipmunks!!

Talking over dinner time

This 4 star assignment made me nervous but at the same time, I wanted to try it out. We had to act as 3-4 different people and have a conversation together. I decided to act as a sister, brother, and Asian mother. I tried at first recording myself onto Audacity but I kept messing up. So then I wrote down a script for myself. Once I did this, it was much easier. I tried to make the sister sound like a little girl, and the brother to sound like a typical brother with fast answers and questions. The Asian mother I tried with an accent and using a typical seen where moms just want to hang out with their kids, but they always want to leave and hangout with friends. After I recorded myself I uploaded the mp3 file into SoundCloud.

Chipmunking up music

For this 3 star assignment, we had to take an artist and make them sound like the famous chipmunks. As soon as I saw this assignment, I was excited to do it, because I loved the Alvin and chipmunks songs as a kid. I chose to recreate the song, One More Night, by Maroon 5. I created this new track in the program Audacity. I recorded the track onto Audacity and then went to > Effects, >Change Speed. Here I messed with the speed making Adam Levine’s voice into a chipmunk.

It’s Morphing Time

For the “Voice Morphing” assignment, I told a joke (but I’m not going to tell you what joke, I’ll leave that up for you to interpret because it may or may not be controversial). To get my voice like this, I used a couple of different features on Audacity. I lowered my pitch, slowed down the time, added the echo effect, and the wobbly effect (can’t think of the actual name of it) and let it ride. It doesn’t sound anything like me, which is the premise of this assignment. After editing my voice to indiscerniblity, I exported it and uploaded it to my SoundCloud. Check it out.

Forever Studying

From the first week that we wet our feet with audio assignments, I thoroughly enjoyed the “Sound Effect Story” assignment, so I took it upon myself to make another one. This sound effect story uses five different sounds. Two different breathing sounds (for the sigh at the end), some classical music in the background (because I like to listen to classical music when I study), a page flip sound, and a slurp for the sound of someone drinking coffee. I got all my sounds from freesound, and edited them (clipped them down) together to create my story. I think it does a good job of capturing the stressfulness of studying. (Fitting because that’s all I feel like I have been doing for the past 4 weeks).
