Visit England!

Minimalist Travel Poster inspired by the film Pride and Prejudice. I love the scenery in the movie. The lighting, the colors, the various shots. Its all so beautiful. So, I tried to replicate it the best I could while keeping it minimalistic. I tried to replicate the colors and the iconic tree in the distance that is often seen in the movie. I created the background myself using Gimp and found an oak tree silhouette on the internet.

My Autobiography Cover (2 stars)

For this assignment, we had to create our Autobiography cover page using any software we wanted. This was worth 2 stars and here it is….

I chose the picture I took when I was at the Semain Mountains in Ethiopia because A. it was something I will never repeat. B. The scenery was sooo beautiful that it felt unrealistic and finally, even though society tells you to live a certain way …doesn’t mean you can’t create your own reality. Thus, my title would be …My Reality.

Radio Show T-shirt (2 stars)

To help promote our radio show this semester, I decided to go ahead and design a tshirt for this part of the assignment. It was worth 2 stars and this is what it looks like…

Our radio stations, Senioritis106, will be focusing on the activities…troubles…difficult times…Our seniors might have during there last year of school. And since majority of us are seniors, we could relate and thus, would make our radio show even worth listening to.

How I created this picture: I took a picture from online, i.e. the “ignore responsibilities and lie on the floor” image. Then customized my own t-shirt at customink.com.

Radio Show Promotion and Contribution

Our radio show is coming soon, and what better way to promote it! .  For this assignment I chose to create a poster to show the theme of our radio show.   I used Photoshop to change the lighting of the picture and to also add font.  This assigment was worth 2 stars. I used PicMonkey to change the contrast,  brightness, sharpness.  I made the picture darker in order to add a little bit of spookyness since the theme is Autumn/Halloween.

radioshow

My contribution:

For the radio show, our group will be doing an autumn theme, and when we think about autem Halloween comes to mind!  My group will be talking about Halloween as well as sharing funny and scary stories, and a little bit of safety.  As part of my contribution to our group I will talk about the history of Halloween on our radio show.  I will use sounds to go along with the facts of how Halloween started and hopefully sounds to make it spooky too!  I’m really excited about this project.  Another thing I will be contributing for my group is that I will call in on Monday October 22th, to ds106 radio to talk about the our radio show!

What Culture Means To Me (2 stars)

Culture is defined as the quality in a person or society that arises from a concern for what is regarded as excellent in arts, letters, manners, scholarly pursuits, etc. Coming from a very cultural background…this assignment was more of a reflection/appreciation of what I have, because not everyone can say that they have a culture.

ETHIOPIA

These are pictures I took this summer when I went back to visit Ethiopia after 5 years. I took a road trip to the northern part of ethiopia and finally got to visit my tribe (the different tribes my parents were apart of). It was a great experience and helped me realize that I come from a very beautiful country with a lot of cultural backgrounds

How I created this picture: Took my pictures and edited them on bighugelabs.com

Warning Labels (3 stars)

Everything these days have a warning label. Some make sense while others actually tell you that the product you’re about to use cause more harm than help. This is what I came up with…..

Coming from the procrastinating queen, I wait to do EVERYTHING last minute. I swear I try my best to do things on time, but it’s like the little voice in my head wants me to have all this pressure while I complete an assignment. Therefore, this warning is not only useful for those who procrastinate on assignments but is a warning for all who live everyday life as if tomorrow is promised.

How I created it: I took a picture, uploaded it on the Picasa software, then finally used bighugelabs.com to complete the picture.

Light Switch Art (3 Stars)

The light switch….Simple but yet has so much that can be done with the metaphor (The plate). For this assignment, I chose to do a picture that portrayed most men in college. Here it is…..

YOU TURN ME….

When I thought about this assignment, I was at first going for the simplistic, “The mind” with the lightbulb and everything. But after a while, I started thinking, all my guy friends could ever talk about was how some chick was turning them On/Off with the way she looked…talked…ate…etc. THUS….this was a perfect depiction of what their little brain goes through when it does all those difficult decisions.

How I created it: I drew a picture of a half naked man….cut the middle section out so it can fit the light switch….then took a picture via Windows Phone. Afterwards, I uploaded the picture on my macbook and edited it via picasa software.

p.s. DON’T JUDGE ME….cause you know it’s the truth!

Album Cover (3 stars)

This assignment was 3 stars worth and I honestly did my best to make a cover…..I don’t even sing/play an instrument/ or Dance.

This Album includes all the songs you’d like to hear during that Last Minute Cram     Session. Midterms are around the corner and everyone knows that it’s REALLY stressful, SOOOOO….why not pop a CD instead of a Drug to help you concentrate on the works that need to be accomplished.

How I created it: Took a normal picture (via windows phone) then edited it on Picasa.

What is this?

 What does it mean?!

Smiling Peanut Anyone?: ds106 radio show

Richard Elzey- Smiling Peanut

Listen to ds106 radio!! This is my poster advertising our radio show. I wanted something kind of quirky and a little disturbing, and I think I got that. I see our radio show as being a little eclectic, kind of weird, but still pretty cool. I love the weird roadside attractions that are all over America and want to feature them somehow in our radio show, and so made a poster expressing that desire.
