Venn Pop Culture

Venn Diagram

Here we had to make a Venn Diagram, and chose characters that had things in common and put one together. I cam up with main subjects of Bad, Good, and Mischievous characters. The Minions from Despicalbe Me display both good characteristic but are also mischievous. Angelica from Rugrats is both Good when she is around her parents but bad when left with the other kids to play. The Grinch, although becomes good at the very end, he is bad at first and mischievous. Lastly, I chose Jerry from Tom and Jerry because he is a good character, however can be bad and mischievous to Tom. I created this in the program Paint.

NYC’S NEW ICE AGE

edited truthful movie poster

I found a movie poster of the movie The Day After Tomorrow. I opened it up in artweaver and used the stamp tool to get rid of the original title of the movie and then added in my title name that tells the real story of the movie. I named it NYC’S NEW ICE AGE.

Promoting Ds106 BOOT-CAMP

Promoting ds106 BOOT-CAMP

I found a propaganda poster of Rosie the Riveter saying “We can do it” on google images. Then opened the image up in artweaver and added a text box. In the text box in navy blue color I typed in Ds106 Boot-Camp. Encouraging student that yea the start to this course is a bit overwhelming but WE CAN DO IT!!!

Truth about Movies

The Young One

The Young One

I took the poster for the movie The Lucky One and retitled the movie The Young One. I also added a description to it saying I stalked you down, but lets be real I’m too young for you. I saved an image of The Lucky one onto my computer. I then opened it onto the program Artweaver and used the stamp tool (clone tool) to edit out the Lucky one which was written on Zac Efron’s shirt. I then added my own text in Red and White onto the poster to create the new movie The Young One. This is one of my favorite movies, but honestly I wish the main actress was younger, kinda ruined the movie for me haha.

Dr. Seuss Remix

DR. Seuss remix

I edited this in the program paint. As a child this was one of my favorite Dr. Seuss books. So I used this and added in the yahoo search engine logo and the Smiley face that goes with it!! I got the three images off google search engine. Then I opened them up in paint, I then put the yahoo over the “blue fish” and the smiley face over the “the blue fish picture.” After that I used the eye droplet tool to color the white spaces from the yahoo word and symbol with yellow so it matched the book. Lastly I cropped it!

Danbob Chalpants

Danbob Chalpants

This is my friend, in his naked and chubby prime, Dan. (Some call him the Stay-Puft Marshmallow, or the Michelin Man, or a plethora of other things).

I decided to use this picture for this assignment because I am sitting right next to him, and he inspired me. To achieve this look, I uploaded a picture of him to Picasa and added the “comic book” effect, and the “poster” effect, and played around with the settings until it came out looking like this. Then, I emailed it to myself and uploaded it to flickr.

The origins of Danbob Chalpants:

He was hatched from an egg–albeit a rather large egg. His superpowers are being able to stomach any and everything in sight. On a normal day he eats upwards of 10,000 calories.

Computer Books For Kids

Mozilla Firefox

Here we had to take a well known children’s book and turn it into a computer book. This struck me because the example photo is of Dr. Seuss’ book Oh, the Places You’ll Go to Oh, the Places You’ll Google. I thought that was really creative and cool, so I wanted to give it a shot. I Googled imagined children’s books and found the cover of The Lorax. As soon as I saw that cover it reminded me of the Mozilla Firefox because of the trees in The Lorax picture. I saved both images onto my computer and reopened them onto a program called Artweaver. Which is much like Photoshop. I cut out the Firefox with the lasso tool and pasted it on top of the actual Lorax. Then I recolored the trees and added the text The Firefox to replace The Lorax. I think this assignment allows a lot of creativity. Depending on what story someone uses some of these could be really funny.

Tunachu, I choose you.

This was an absolute blast. A great one to finish my 15 stars with!! I grew up playing pokemon, but now I have graduated to a more mature hobby of saltwater fishing. Using my Pokecard I was able to combine my two hobbies into one. Check out Tunachu!!

Wait where did that come from?

This one being a three star gave me a little bit more trouble at first. Once I figured out the scene I wanted it was a matter of finding the right material cropping it for my use then trying to fade it in to look natural. All using Pic Monkey! Do you see it?

What is that?

On the Cover of Teen Magazine

So with the upcoming election and all the idea of a politician to grace the cover with Justin Bieber was a given. I went online and found a suitable background and then a picture of President Obama to overlay on it. Using Pic Monkey, I created a new teen cover magazine. President Obama is Biebs Number 1 fan can you pass his quiz?
