For this assignment I decided to go about it a different way and use a different meme creator than the one given I saw a few of my friends use in the past.  http://on.fb.me/FB-Generator. (I hope that’s ok).  I chose this one because I like how this one is not as focused on a given subject, and used pictures that I’m tagged in on Facebook that I don’t necessarily have saved on my computer.  I felt like thesepictures in this meme pretty much represent me and what people think I do.  Some are a little more accurate than others.  Under the category what my boss thinks I do was probably the hardest one because I am currently not working, but I never had any pictures from when I was working over the summer.

Alternative Book Cover

Take a title of a well-known book and re-design the cover to suggest something entirely different. For example, the book cover for Cormac McCarthy’s The Road (an apocalyptic novel about a father and son facing the end of the world) is reframed as a feel-good book about effective parenting (see image). For this assignment I once again used the book The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins. For the cover I went to Google Images and found this image of someone waiting for food that was probably hungry.  I then used Photoshop Editor to add the title and author’s name.  Now the Hunger Games looks more like it’s about being hungry and having food than being about living in a postapocalyptic world and having children ages 12-18 fight til the death in the annual Hunger Games.  I chose this assignment because it really relates to the phrase “don’t judge a book by its cover”  I know when I go into book store to look for books I kind of judge a book by its cover.  This assignment shows that if you don’t read the back of the book a cover can be really misleading.

If Movie Posters Told the Truth

For this assignment I used the movie Marley & Me.  This movie came out during Christmas 2008 and is based on the book by John Grogan.  I found a google image of the movie poster, and then I opened the picture up in paint to add the words to it.  I went to see this movie  in theaters around new years, not having read the book and I swear by the end of the movie everyone in the theater was in tears.  I know I was and I don’t usually cry during movies I see in the theaters.  So for this I changed the top part of the movie to: “This Christmas, be ready to cry”  instead of “This Christmas,  heel the love”And changed the title from Marley and Me to “The Saddest Movie You Will Ever See”  Below the movie title it said: “Life and Love with the worlds worst dog” And I changed it to “this is particularly sad for all dog owners”  The one time I saw the movie in theaters was the only time I have seen the movie.  It was just too sad to be seen more than once.

On Monday October 1 our Radio Group 1 met for the first time.  It was really nice to meet in person because then as a group we decided what each of our contributions would be to the project.  For our show we are going to be talking about Halloween, the history of it, as well as share some personal stories that we have experienced during Halloween.  My personal contribution to the group is to work on the conclusion of the radio show which will be talking about safety trick-or-treating, as well as what people should consider while going out on Halloween night.  I’m really looking forward to getting a start on this radio show.  We also decided as a group to meet again to do one introduction to our radio show.  As a group we still haven’t picked a name but this week we are planning on mass tweeting our ideas and then deciding on a name.  For now below is my design assignment poster for our Radio Show.

DS106 Radio

Come up with an aesthetic for ds106 radio. If you were to create a shirt, bumper sticker, poster, etc. what would it look like? See WFMU as an example/inspiration.

This is a 2 star assignment

To start this assignment I went to Google Images and just searched for anything having to do with Autumn and Halloween.  It is then where I found this picture below.  I choose this picture to represent our group because we are not just going to tell scary stories but also funny ones as well.  I thought this picture didn’t represent being too scary but also have more of a fun kind of theme to it.  Since we haven’t thought of a name yet I decided just to use our Twitter tag #ADAAM we’ve been using to communicate.  I then used Photoshop Editor online to add the text into this image.  When we decide on a group name we agree on I will then change the text in the poster.
