The one assignment that we all had to do this week was recreating the Foley assignment that we made during audio week. Then we each got assigned thirty seconds of the video to make up our own audio for and this week we had to take audio and add in back in with the video to make a bit of a different story.

For my audio clips I choose to use Karissa’s, for part two I used Brooke’s, for part three I used mine, for part four I used Kristen’s, and for part five I used Cole’s, and for part six I used Kaitlyn’s. After picking my audio clips I went ahead and downloaded them to my computer. I then ripped the youtube video from above from keepvid.
I then imported the video into iMovie. I then muted the volume volume of the original video. I then imported each of the thirty second sound clips that I had originally downloaded. I then added them in on at a time making sure to line them up side by side. The first five fit perfectly without issue. The sixth one was a little bit funny though. I had to push it back a few seconds to make it fit correctly so there is a small amount of dead space before the final clip.
I then added in a title sequence for my clip. I decided to add my title in on top of the picture to have it flow well. I then added credits. I credited both myself for making it and everyone whose parts I used. I then went back and added the sound back into the parts without sound. I had considered using my own music but I had a hard time finding something that fit well.
Overall this wasn’t too hard of process. I think I had dreaded it a bit more than I needed too.

The video assignment called Sports Mashup, which called to create a video mix of a bunch of great moments in sports history, was a lot of fun and got me pumped up to go out and do something! This assignment was one that I got prepped for a couple of weeks ago. I found all the videos on YouTube and chose which parts of those videos I wanted to put in my mix. The sources for all the videos are found in my original post.
I decided to go a little out there and not do any football moments, because I feel like that sport is the most common one to get pumped about. Instead, I chose snowboarding, rugby, parkour, soccer, and boxing. I used keepvid to download each YouTube video and then opened them in MPEG Streamclip. Once I trimmed down the part of the video I wanted to use, I exported it as an avi file and opened it in Windows Movie Maker. To get rid of the audio, I muted each clip and added in a song by Deadmau5 called “Ghosts n’ Stuff.” I used Audacity to trim the audio and create the fade in and out effects, which I uploaded into Windows Movie Maker. I first heard this song in a documentary called The Art of Flight and knew it would be a good one since it got me pumped up and excited to be watching these amazing snowboarders (by the way, I really recommend watching that documentary!).
As for each clip I chose…I love watching Shaun White snowboard, so it was a no brainer to me to put some of his stuff in. I also thought it was a good one to put first since the action was immediate and you could see him do several tricks. If you know anything about soccer, you know Wayne Rooney has a golden foot and has so many amazing videos of his goals already on YouTube. I had to choose a goal that would keep none-soccer fans interested, so I chose one that was more than just kicking the ball into goal; it has him doing a backflip with it. As for boxing, I only know a few boxers, but when I watch boxing movies and there’s a knockout, I get super pumped so I put in a clip of Sergio Martinez knocking out Paul Williams with one punch. As a rugby player, I couldn’t do a sports mashup without a clip of a great try by a world class team. It shows that you have to not only be fast, but also an accurate kicker and have good predictability of a ball shaped like that bouncing around. Finally, I saw a video of this guy, Damien Walters, on Facebook a while back, and couldn’t resist putting him in. His longer videos are really fantastic and I could watch them for hours. It’s amazing what he can do.
Finally, I uploaded the video onto YouTube et voilà!

One day during her first year, while walking in down one of the corridors at Mercury, the Fandom Princess heard loud noises coming from her favorite East Wing library. She paused, as did Ghost, but then instantly sprinted towards the sound of the noise.
Ghost ran right behind her and when they got to East Wing library, what they saw made both their mouths open wide. There were pixies, little tiny cream ones (the bad kinds, mind you) flying all over the room. They were taking over the bookshelves, they were lying out on the tables, and the students all just stared in wonder and slight terror.
“Well, this is peculiar,” the Princess stated and looked around for a professor who could hopefully solve the problem.
Not finding one fast enough, she rolled up the sleeves of robe and said, “Well, I guess it’s up to me.”
Ghost was the first one to charge in, barking loudly. The pixies responded in a flurry, turning and flying right towards the window which they had flown in from. The Princess began to clap her hands loudly in a specific rhythm and yelling at the top of her lungs, “Be gone, naughty pixies! Shoo! Shoo! You’re messing up the books!”
One by one, cluster by cluster, the pixies began to fly out of the library. It had taken only a few moments, but when all the pixies were finally gone from the room, all the students began to clap for the Princess’s smart tactic.
When the professors finally made it, they all smiled widely at the Princess.
“You are indeed quite a clever darling,” they said. The Princess merely smiled.
I found this video assignment title, A word… A picture… A story, intriguing while I was browsing and trying to find out which next assignment I wanted to do. The assignment called to pick between 5 and 10 random words and put them together in a video in order to create a story. This was more up my alley than anything else to be honest because it had to do with words, and I am a writer, so obviously, I love words and identify with them better to create a story than anything else.
So, first I had to randomly pick words. But I know me. I knew that I couldn’t randomly do it because I would think about the words that I was going to pick too much. So I had to find some sort of objective way to do this, some way that wouldn’t allow me to have any choice in what the words that I picked were.
Thus, I went to my good friend Google, and searched for a random word generator. The first hit brought me to this website, Random Word Generator, where I could pick between 1 and 8 words that would be generated for me! Nice, huh? But because I’m me, and still couldn’t just sit with the list that it gave me, I refreshed the list 3 times (that was my number limit) and determined that whichever it landed on would be the words that I would have to work with. So, my words were as follows:
So, now that I had my 8 words, I had to figure out how exactly I wanted to put them together in the video. You know, how to make it tell a story and all that jazz. I struggled a bit at first, mainly because the English major in me panicked at the lack of verbs. But then I remembered that this didn’t necessarily have to be a sentence, it just needed to creatively tell a story. So I worked on rearranging the words in a way that would tell a story.
I guess I’ll tell you all my train of thought first, and then go into the actual video that I made to go along with it. I figured the beard could represent the man that would be the main central figure of the story, and that he lived in the forest and owned a pet parrot. While exploring this forest one day, he found a motel immersed in the shadow. Upon entering the, obviously, ancient motel, he found a strange and eery coffin, located next to a large vase, and a jewel encrusted crown, all seemingly belonging to the same person. And, to this day, the place remains a mystery to him. Here’s the end product!
After creating my hypothetical story, I then did the Google search where I looked for images that went along vividly with the word as best that it could. After finding the images that I believed best encompassed the word (as you will be able to see in the video below) I then put them together using Windows Move Maker. I saved it, then uploaded it to YouTube, and then boom! The assignment was completed! Pretty neat. Since I had a great time, I also decided to use this as a tutorial! I hope it helps some people, especially that website if you’re like me!

I took each video from YouTube using the PwnYouTube bookmark. Downloaded the best quality MP4 I could. Then I opened them all up in Adobe Premiere Pro. I didn’t have a plan at first for which part of the video clips I wanted to use for the one second I had. After cutting Dangerous Minds, Dead Poets Society, and Lean on Me, I started to see a pattern so I put them in an almost conversation.
The little girl asks, “Are you going to teach us anything?”
Then Michelle Pfeiffer screams, “MOVE!”
Robin Williams, “Well, come on!”
Morgan Freeman, “To learn.”
Hillary Swank, “To graduate.”
Okay, it’s not perfect, but I think it’s a nice coincidence!
That should be the goal of any inspirational teacher, though. Moving your students to learn and to graduate!
For this assignment, it required to make a tutorial for Mom, or someone who just isn’t familiar with a piece of technology. About three years ago, my grandma started her own company and usually has my mom do all of her paper while she manages. However, in the past year, my mom decided to get her a laptop so that she could do some of the paper work on her own. What a waste of money that was because all she does is play solitaire on it. Her excuse? That WE never showed her how to use it! So lately, we’ve been making the effort to show her how to use certain parts of her computer. Last week, she called me complaining that she’s tired of Safari messing up her e-mails, and i reminded her that she has an app that helps her send e-mails! So I took it upon myself to use two birds for one stone: get some star’s done while showing my grandma how to send an email. I used QuickTime Player, which has this really cool option to record your screen while doing audio as well. I messed up a couple of times because I didn’t realize there was an option to record audio (i thought it just did it by itself) but I finally figured it all out! The steps were pretty cut and dry, but I managed to show my grandma how to send an e-mail now! The best part is that this is a video, so she can come back to it whenever she forgets..And now she has no excuse for not knowing how to send an e-mail! What a five cool ?’s this was!
One of the assignments I picked was Where are they now? Just ’cause I couldn’t resist picking one of my favorite casts and totally morphing them by picking their futures! For this, I used iMovie and Google images to my fullll advantage! I picked one of my favorite movies, How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days but definitely got silly with it. I use the billboard theme to make it fun and the song Good Riddance to make it somewhat nostalgic. Basically, Andie (Kate Hudson) dumped Ben (Matthew McConaughey), and although she is still reallly hot, while getting her dream job, he lost a bunch of weight and became obsessive. He’s been arrested 4 times for stalking her, funny how he turned into the obsessive one! Jeannie (Annie Parisse) became a total fashion mogul, and now travels all over the world but she still keeps in really good touch with Andie, her BFF. Tony (Adam Goldberg) ended up owning the company that he, Ben and Thayer worked for, as well as coming out of the closet! His boyfriend’s name is Rodolfo; they own two houses and a poodle named Elenore. Michele (Kathryn Hanh) remains funny as ever! Except now she shares her humor with her husband, who never takes her for granted like the douches in the movie. Finally, Thayer!…Quit his job because it wasn’t the same to him with Benjamin and he became a rent-a-cop, mostly to help Ben stalk Andie but keep his cover about it.
