This is my first gif. The wiggle stereoscopy! It took me a couple of tries, I eventually got it. It seemed like forever. I felt bad using something from inside again, but it was 6am and I had nothing else better to do before my chem lab. My love of coffee mixed with with my enjoyment of critical thinking game. I thought it was also fitting given what was on the mug itself. I’m really happy with this one! Photography is my strength so I’m excited to something different with it. I’m normally just a good standard composition kind of guy. I need to open the door to other possibilities with editing. Definitely the most fun visual three star this week.
Just some good clean fun with Obama’s face. I’m sure he wouldn’t have it any other way. Not one of Dave Chappelle’s best movies in my mind, but he is always entertaining. I edited this in GIMP using the lasso tool and it fit right in. Almost too well.

See, what did she have to kick in down the ladder for? A ll the poor guy wanted was a cup of sugar! People these days…
For those that don’t know this is a screenshot from The Twilight Zone “The Invaders”. He just got of his little flying saucer that landed on her roof or in her attic. He’s shown himself for the first time, with no previous malintent, and she kicks the poor fella down the ladder. If she just said “Hi” the whole episode could have been avoided and it wouldn’t have been a battle to the death.

Wanted to show the Invaders have arrived in my graffiti post. This is my favorite type of generic alien, so I thought I would incorporate it into the invaders posts. I cut the alien out in GIMP and downloaded a graffiti font from here.

For the better part of forever, more accurately described as a few years, we’ve been in a near constant state of war on a variety of fronts. Regardless of how your feel about the causes, justifications, rationatales, outcomes, etc one thing we can all agree on if how pervasive the coverage is. Images of the various wars and military operations have touched every form of media possible.
With that in mind, I watched the Twilight Zone episode “The Invaders”. [WARNING THERE BE SPOILERS AHEAD]
A simple country woman lives at home until she hears a startling noise. Upon investigation a tiny UFO has landed on her roof. She attacks the tiny spacemen as they exit the vessel. It is reveal that these “space men” are in fact the US Air Force sent to invade a foreign planet. Pretty fitting theme even in today’s society.
This episode originally aired in 1961…which got me thinking: How would the media react if this event happened shortly after the Bay of Pigs invasion.
I bet it’d be something like this:
I referenced a scan I found of a Newsweek magzine from April 1961. As an interesting aside, the magazine cost $0.25. 25 whole cents. Makes you wonder what a magazine will cost in another 52 years.
The geek in me would like to point out that at teh same rate of inflation as the last 52 years newsweek would cost $99.06 for a copy. However, in doing that research I learned that after 80 years in print, the last hard copy of Newsweek was printed in October 2012!
Holy crap am I late getting that memo! It’s now an online only platform (except Europe who still has access to print versions). Fascinating.
