Scenes with an Impact

Scenes with an Impact

For this assignment I used scenes from 10 Things I Hate About You, Pretty in Pink, and My Girl. All three of these scenes/movies had a different effect/impact on my life. I really don’t have a lot of life changing effects from movies, so I’d say they altered my perspective on life, made me think about certain situations differently. For this assignment I recorded myself in audacity speaking about the different scenes and then imported them in to movie maker. The clips I downloaded with YTD, converted them to MP4s, edited them with Streamclip, converted the edited versions to windows media files, and then imported them in to movie maker. I added transitions and titles before them to give a little background as to why I picked them. At the end I explain in more detail my decisions for picking the scenes that I did.

Screamy SuperCuts

Supercuts are a serious of clips which highlight a sertain aspect/clique/theme/line which is overused or just frequently implemented in a piece of media.

For my supercut I chose True Bloods Ginger. For those of you who have never seen True Blood, I watch it because I find it to be funny… though I don’t think it was meant to be that way. A common thing for Ginger to do is scream… at everything… always. I tried to tell a story of the day in the life of Ginger, opening the bar, dealing with guests and the varies vampires she works for.

Spaceships

In honor of Firefly’s 10th Anniversary of it’s cancellation I decided to do a tribute assignment to them in the Genre/Song Mash up. in this we were to take clips from varies TV shows/movies that exhibit a similar aspect and set it to a popular song of today.

For Mine I chose Alligator Sky by Owl City and did a science fiction style spaceship motief featuring shots of Serenity, the space ship from Firefly. I thought the song lined up perfectly with the shots, and I tried to capture the emotional bond between Captain Reynolds and Serenity. Clips include many shots from star wars, star trek, Firefly and others. I hope you enjoy your flight, ad remember to be good to your ship.

If you tie a lemon to a rainbow

A Word. . . A Picture. . .A Story

For this assignment I I picked the first seven words that came in to my head; lemon, rainbow, tie, nose, window, if, loser. I have no idea where those words came from, but they were there so I used them. As per the instructions I Googled each word and picked one of the first ones that came up. I then imported them in to Windows Movie Maker and created title slides in between the photos to help my story along. I used the speed up effect so it didn’t lag too much. My story kind of came out of no where, its more of a poetic piece.

Is That A Ghost?

This was originally a picture I took in Upstate New York. I used Photoshop’s new content aware tool to change the opacity of the subject in the center.  (Click the picture to see it larger, the details are great.)

Montage

A photo-montage of “La Playa da Carmen” (Mexico). Basically I took five photos and rotates and moved them around until they fit.

You Can’t Sit With Us! One Quote a Day

“You can’t sit with us!”
The idea of the one quote a day was to take a movie quote and say it with our own tone. I know we aren’t supposed to say where it came from, but I can’t help myself:

I tried to make my voice sound more “disgusted” instead of angry like Gretchen’s. Overall, this assignment was pretty fun.

We’ve Found Your Match

In this visual assignment it was our task to take a picture of someone close to us and put them next to their celebrity look alike. My brother just happens to look similar to Ty Diggs. He always hates this comparison so it will be quite the laugh when he sees this blog. I simply went onto “Paint” program and copied both pictures side by side and saved it as one file. This assignment is found on the Ds106 VisualAssignments

Venn Pop Culture

I created this in paint.  I chose the categories funny, sports, and rich.  For frich, I chose Kevin Hart because he is my favorite comedian, and he’s obviously rich.  For forts, I chose Peyton Manning because he is one of my favorite football players, and I love his commercials, I think they’re hysterical.  For Srich, I chose Tiger Woods because hes always talked about and he’s the most wealthy athlete in the world.  For the blend of all of them, I chose Shaq, because he is a very famous athlete, hes clearly rich, and he is hilarious.

Lords Of Dogtown

Lord of Dogtown trading card? I think YES! Lord of Dogtown is a classic movie about boys trying to make it big skating. I picked a scene where several of the main characters are “shredding” or skating a drained pool. I used picmonkey.com to create this trading card. I gave the picture a boarder to create the card look. I then added some words and the name of the movie to make it legit.
