For my other visual assignment I did That’s Not What I Expected ,3 Stars.
I took this picture in my kitchen. This object was on counter which I think is pretty. I took this picture from my iPhone and I zoomed in. It was hard to focus on the object. It took a couple tries to capture the picture. Comment if you think what it is.
I originally chose this assignment because of my childhood. While we were in the car, my brother and I would come up with crazy games to kill time. For one example, my brother and I would zoom in on pictures and try to stump each other on what the pictures were of. Sometimes it worked, sometimes it didn’t. Either way, it was a great way for my brother and I, who were constantly butting heads with each other, to be able to compete through something simple. My mom was sure okay with some peace for once. So reading this assignment was a little nostalgic in a way, and I wanted to do it.
Before I even started the assignment, I first was thinking to myself, what would I like to take a picture of zoomed in? I didn’t know what to take a picture of. I wanted it to relate to something about me, like some sort of aspect in my life that would be there forever. As I was thinking of this, I thought of it. I could take a picture of something that was practically going to be with me for the rest of my life in one form or another. Something that supports my major, and what I’d always use in practically every part of my future teaching career. Could you guess what it is through this photo?

It’s a calculator! I chose this because I thought I could easily stump people through the reflection in the glass. I tried to make sure I got as little of the edge as I possibly could, but just enough for people to notice it’s there. Tell me if you got it in the comments below!

This is a picture I took in my room. I have a stand up fan that thought looked cool up close and would be hard to guess what it was.
Can anyone guess what this is actually a picture of? I’ll give you a hint… it’s found in kitchens, but not all kitchens. I found this assignment very fun. It did not take long at all, all you have to do is take any object and take an up close photo!
Growing up, I loved ISpy books. They were big books filled with page after page of close up photos of random objects laying on a surface. Each page had a riddle with items to find in the photograph. It sounds easy but sometimes the close up photos made a simple object look like something unrecognizable.
That is the point of this exercise, That’s Not What I Expected. The directions ask that we take a close up picture of an everyday object and post to see how many people correctly guess what it is. I used my iPhone and tried to get as close as possible to a very familiar object. It was challenging to get the camera to focus properly at such a close range. I experimented with holding the camera at different angles. This is the final result.

I thought a close up of the rough and textured tree would be a fun object to take a photo of! The colors and shapes within the tree are very unique, and when I first took the close up photo, I almost thought it could be mistaken for a moth wing. It was simple enough to get a close up of the trunk as it was in the natural light and was easily picked up on my iPhone 6 camera!
Out of all the visual assignments this week, this was one of my favorites as it was quite easy to take and fun to decide which objects would have a creative close up texture for a picture!
For my second Visual Assignment, I picked the Close-Up Photo. Here is my mysterious close-up picture. Can you guess what it is? Comment if you got an idea!
It took me some time to figure out what to take a photo of, because there are so many choices! Once I decided on the object, I put the Zoom feature on the camera on my phone on high and snap the photo.
